World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades can be used to boost the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade, it may increase an item's Mark Level or Rarity, as well as boost other stats.

The process of upgrading gear in The War Within requires a set number of Flightstones and Crests, and each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next one by a set amount.

Item Level

When an item is upgraded, its base stats improve in value. This is the sum of all of its upgraded perks (attack, magic attack and defense). Upgrades to items can be costly, depending on the upgrader and what type of upgrade you choose to do. This is due to the variety of perks that must be altered to upgrade an item.

Item level is a popular measure of power, and can be seen on all item tooltips. It also serves to limit the amount of PvP gear players are able to wear, since PvP is limited at a lower level. Players can view their average level of item on their character sheet.

When deciding whether to purchase or sell gear, players can compare the level of an item. It's a good indicator of an item's quality and the amount of damage it's able to deal. Comparing items from the inventory of a seller can be done using the item's level.

On your PC, you can check the level of the item by pressing ALT or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will show the full description of the item, including its level. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel into chat.

There are a few theories about how the calculation of the item's level is made. One theory is that the level is a numerical value derived from a formula which calculates the amount an item's stats are worth. It takes into consideration the fact that various perks have different value and sockets have gems that increase the value of the item overall. This can lead to a calculated item's ilvl that is often very close to Blizzard's actual level of the item.

This isn't the only thing that affects the value of an item. The location of where the item dropped can also alter its stats. For instance, it could increase the item's haste, or crit rating. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have more value than items dropped in lower-level instances.

Item Stats

The item's stats can be the difference between a good or bad item for players. The game uses a variety of them in various ways to encourage players to play with a variety of weapons, and also to stop one weapon from being "the best." The stats of a base weapon are boosted by the weapon's stat modification, which are themselves boosted by the player's level.

Upgrades to an item can boost its stats. The cost of upgrades is determined by the rarity of the item. A grey or white item, for example, will only be upgraded one time however, items with rare tiers may be upgraded multiple times at higher prices.

Affixes are a different method to alter the stats of an item. They are stat boosters that can be added by the player to an item. The affixes are used to give items additional damage, special capabilities (such as the ability to revive dead or reduce cooling downs) or to distinguish them by naming them.

All affixes are re-rolled at the moment by selecting them in the upgrade window pressing the green button. It will cost a set amount in gold and other items. They can also be used as upgrade gauges similar to other rerolling methods.

Players can choose to upgrade an item with specific stats, or reroll attaches. The possible stat ranges for an item are based on the level of the item, however every item is guaranteed to have at least one stat within that range, unless it's an item that is unique or a God roll from a raid boss.

Another thing that could be changed by introducing an option to upgrade the equipment without rolling the affixes or choosing which stats to boost. But, like base equipment, this would have to be carried out on a per-item basis and the interface for comparing items will not show all the stats that could be gained or lost at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player stacks up to increase the odds of item discoveries, the properties spawned on loot drops and the intensity of these properties. However, it doesn't directly affect damage or ability to upgrade items. It merely gives players a possibility to obtain better equipment earlier in the game and is thus more beneficial in the early game than later ones since most players prefer higher weapon scaling and defenses over raw damage gains.

item upgrades can also increase the chances of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chance that increases with each level and can be further enhanced by using an anti-material, such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons have the default Luck value of 40. These items can be enhanced by golden ingots, spined leather, or oak boards (depending on the item's material type) to give +40 Luck, or to increase the existing Luck of the item up to 140.

Furthermore some items, such as the Hollow weapon, which is infused with Hollow, can be equipped to increase the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5percent. These items are available in the shop or crafted by using the appropriate ingredients.

Item Failure

Upgrades to items are expensive and not all upgrades will succeed. Cash shop items can be used to boost the success rate of an upgrade or to stop players from losing their items if it fails.

The rate of success of an upgrade is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of successfully upgrading that item and can be enhanced by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations to how much the success rates can be improved and the probability of a failed upgrade cannot exceed 100%..

The success of an upgrades is also influenced by the Luck of that item. All items have an average success rate of 25% and every item with Luck increases that chance by an additional 5%.

It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the inventory items, so enchantment glint and other effects may be obstructed by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
