The Harmonising Outcome Measures for Eczema (HOME) initiative has established a core outcome set of domains for atopic eczema clinical trials. Previous consensus meetings have agreed upon preferred instruments for clinician-reported signs (Eczema Area and Severity Index - EASI) and patient-reported symptoms (Patient-Oriented Eczema Measure - POEM). This paper reports consensus decisions from the HOME VII meeting.

To complete the core outcome set for atopic eczema by agreeing upon core outcome instruments for the domains of quality of life, long-term control and itch intensity.

Face-to-face consensus meeting held in Tokyo, Japan (8

to 10

April, 2019) including 74 participants (47 healthcare professionals/methodologists, 14 patients, 13 industry representatives), from 16 countries. Consensus decisions were made by presentations of evidence, followed by whole and small group discussions and anonymous voting using pre-defined consensus rules.

It was agreed by consensus that quality of life should be m The specified domains and instruments should be used in all new clinical trials and systematic reviews of eczema treatments.Green tea contains bioactive compounds, such as polyphenols, responsible for its health-promoting effects, including antiobesity and antidiabetic effects. We previously reported that ultra-sonication extraction (UE) could efficiently increase the extraction yield of green tea compounds. In the present study, we found that the extract obtained using UE contained higher phenolic and flavonoid contents than that obtained using the conventional method. We therefore considered the extract as a bioactive metabolite-rich functional green tea extract (BMF-GTE), and tested its glucose-lowering effect by generating an adipocyte cell line stably expressing 7myc-GLUT4-GFP. We found that BMF-GTE treatment increased GLUT4 translocation to the plasma membrane. Moreover, BMF-GTE administration attenuated weight gain in mice fed a high-fat diet (HFD). Importantly, HFD-induced glucose tolerance was ameliorated in the mice receiving BMF-GTE. Therefore, we conclude that BMF-GTE worked against obesity and diabetes, at least partially, by enhancing GLUT4 translocation in adipocytes. PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS As green tea is one of the most consumed beverages worldwide, its health effects have been widely tested. #link# In our previous studies, we found that ultra-sonication extraction (UE) has the potential to increase the aqueous extraction yield of green tea compounds compared to conventional extraction techniques. In this study, we examined the biological effect of bioactive metabolite-rich functional green tea extract (BMF-GTE) obtained using UE; we observed that administering BMF-GTE lowered the body weight and increased insulin sensitivity in mice fed a high-fat diet, potentially by facilitating the membrane translocation of GLUT4 in adipocytes. Therefore, this study suggests that the extract obtained with UE had antiobesity and antidiabetic properties, indicative of a potential application of UE in maximizing the beneficial effects of green tea on human health.

Ageing leads to physiological cognitive decline that it is worsened in people with neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease. Despite the ongoing search for a solution to this cognitive decline, no effective remedies have been established. It has been determined that modifiable external factors, such as oral health and occlusal function, prevent cognitive decline.

To analyse the primary interactions between occlusal function and cognitive functions.

Masticatory function is related to cognitive functions. In particular, current evidence, from both animal and human studies, suggests that the activation of masticatory muscles and proper mastication, with natural teeth or dental prosthesis, induces the release of several mediators and the activation of specific brain areas. Together, they result in higher neuronal activity, neurotrophic support, blood flow and the prevention of amyloid-beta plaque formation. Thus, all the components of the masticatory system must work together in order to preserve cognitive function.

Available evidence suggests that oral and cognitive health are more interconnected than previously thought. Therefore, maintenance and adequate restoration of the whole masticatory system are important for the prevention of cognitive decline. In summary, oral and chewing health lead to healthy cognitive ageing.

Existing epidemiological studies have suggested that periodontal disease (PD) may be a risk indicator for colorectal cancer (CRC). However, no formal systematic review and meta-analysis have been performed. Therefore, we aimed to evaluate the association between PD and CRC risk in this study.

We used the PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library and Web of Science to search for related articles published from 1 January 1966 to 16 July 2020. Stata (Version 15) software was used to calculate the total risk ratio (RR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) of the included studies through the random-effects model to assess the association between PD and CRC risk.

Nine studies were included in the narrative synthesis, and seven studies were included in the meta-analysis. Results showed that PD significantly increased the risk of CRC by 44% (RR, 1.44; 95% CI, 1.18-1.76; I

, 55.2%).

We found an association between PD and CRC. PD can be a potential risk indicator for the occurrence and development of CRC, and further studies are needed to assess causality. Hence, effective periodontal treatment could be a valuable preventive measure for CRC.
