The health literacy of hospital patients has become a very important issue, especially in the face of emerging infectious diseases. The design of and measures used by hospitals, however, have not yet taken into account whether patients can develop their health literacy through the process of medical treatment. Hospitals should take on this role as part of health education programs.
A cross-sectional survey was conducted at pre-admission testing center patients waiting to be hospitalized in a regional teaching hospital. A purposive sampling method was used to recruit 406 patients via self-administered questionnaires.
Among the 406 participants, 36.1% had adequate health literacy. There were significant differences in age, education attainment, and history of chronic diseases for health literacy. The ability to find and judge information on health was lower. Watching health-related TV programs was positively correlated with health literacy. Health literacy, health promotion literacy, and understanding inf programs and simplified materials may be useful and even necessary.
As global aging progresses, the health management of chronic diseases has become an important issue of concern to governments. Influenced by the aging of its population and improvements in the medical system and healthcare in general, Taiwan's population of patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) has tended to grow year by year, including the incidence of high-risk cases that pose major health hazards to the elderly and middle-aged populations.
This study analyzed the annual health screening data for 65,394 people from 2010 to 2015 sourced from the MJ Group - a major health screening center in Taiwan - including data for 18 risk indicators. We used five prediction model analysis methods, namely, logistic regression (LR) analysis, C5.0 decision tree (C5.0) analysis, stochastic gradient boosting (SGB) analysis, multivariate adaptive regression splines (MARS), and eXtreme gradient boosting (XGboost), with estimated glomerular filtration rate (e-GFR) data to determine G3a, G3b & G4 stage CKD risk factosults of this study, it is recommended that education as the socioeconomic status should be an important factor for CKD, as high educational level showed a negative and highly significant correlation with CKD. The findings of this study should also be of value for further discussions and follow-up research.
The five prediction model methods can provide high and similar classification performance in this study. Based on the results of this study, it is recommended that education as the socioeconomic status should be an important factor for CKD, as high educational level showed a negative and highly significant correlation with CKD. The findings of this study should also be of value for further discussions and follow-up research.
Improving organizational performance for firms in developing countries like Vietnam by huge investments in technological innovation is not feasible, because the majority of firms in these nations are small and medium size, with a lack of capital, resources, and R&D capabilities. Given the important role of change capability for organizational performance, the purpose of this paper is to investigate the impacts of transformational leadership (TL) on organizational performance via the mediating role of organizational change capability in cases of Vietnamese enterprise.
Based on the cross-sectional design method and empirical data, this study applied analysis of moment structures (AMOS) and structural equation modeling (SEM) to inspect the link between the latent variables in the proposal research model through the empirical data gathered from 302 participators in 125 Vietnamese firms.
The findings of this study show the significant and positive influences of TL on organizational change capability and organizational performance. Importantly, organizational change capability significantly mediates the influence of TL on operational and financial performance.
This study contributes to filling the gaps in the literature and advancing the insights of how TL fosters specific aspects of change capability for improving two crucial components of organizational performance, namely operational and financial performance.

The rate of medial meniscus tear (MMT) in professional soccer players is high. There are no studies on objective performance metrics following medial meniscus repair in these athletes.
Examine the impact of MMT treated with surgical repair on performance metrics and career longevity in Major League Soccer (MLS) players.
MLS players who sustained an MMT between 1993 and 2019 were identified via publicly available databases. These players were each matched to 2 uninjured controls by debut date, experience, position, race, ethnicity, height, weight, and body mass index (BMI). Demographic data and performance metrics were then collected for both groups. Matches, minutes, goals, assists, shots, shots on target, duels, and duel percentage won are collectively referred to as performance metrics. Statistical analysis compared demographic distributions and performance metrics between the MMT and control groups.
Thirty-three MLS players who had undergone medial meniscus repair were identified and matched to 66 play at the second year after injury. Their careers were also shorter than those of their uninjured controls.
Balloon-expandable stents are commonly used for the treatment of tracheobronchial strictures. We routinely perform targeted overdilation of these stents 1-2mm on initial deployment to prevent stent migration or allow foreshortening to target airway caliber; however, specific data on the effect of targeted overdilation is unknown.
We used three iCAST stents (6×22mm, 7×22mm, and 10×38mm) to perform the study. We had two sets of each size to average our results. Targeted overdilation was accomplished with Merit Elation balloons.
The 6 × 22 and 7 × 22 stent OD increased from 6 to 11.4mm and 7 to 11.6mm. The 10 × 38 stent demonstrated minimal OD change with overdilation (OD change of 10.4 to 12.2mm). All stents demonstrated significant foreshortening with overdilation (20.2 to 5.65mm, 19.4 to 6mm, and 30.9 to 10.2mm for 6 × 22, 7 × 22, and 10 × 38, respectively). The breakpoint was seen at near twice the stated stent OD (13.5mm, 15mm, and 15mm with 6 × 22, 7 × 22 and 10 × 38, respectively).
We have demonstrated that iCAST stents can increase their OD with subsequent foreshortening during targeted overdilation. This data can help facilitate decisions when selecting a particular iCAST stent for a specific airway application. Additionally, we have highlighted that balloon inflation diameter does not correspond to the actual stent OD during deployment. We believe that this data offers practical information for end-users of this stent type and additional data will be needed to corroborate our findings.

Multiple areas of yellow irregularities were noted on fundus exam throughout the periphery of both eyes, corresponding to lesions at the sclerochoroidal junction on OCT. A diagnosis of sclerochoroidal calcifications (SCC) was confirmed by B-ultrasonography, fundus photography, OCT imaging, and fluorescein and indocyanine green angiography. Systemic metabolic studies were performed, which showed reduced renal function with increased serum calcium; however, SCC lesions in this case were most likely idiopathic. In this work, we report the clinical findings, appearance on multimodal imaging, and systemic associations of sclerochoroidal calcification. Sclerochoroidal calcifications are an unusual clinical finding that tends to be idiopathic, but a focused workup and specialist referral may be warranted to exclude systemic conditions associated with abnormal calcium-phosphate metabolism or hypokalemic metabolic alkalosis syndromes.
Locked pubic symphysis or overlapping symphysis is a rare injury which happens when a pubic bone displaces behind the contra lateral pubic rami. It usually arises from lateral compression injuries. In this case report, we try to share our experience on the operative fixation of locked pubic symphysis and concomitant ipsilateral acetabular fracture.
A 24-year-old male patient presented after a road traffic accident with lateral compression injury to the pelvis. He was found to have locked pubic symphysis, right side transverse acetabular, and right side closed tibial fracture. He was taken to the operation theater 10 days later after he was managed for the additional chest contusion he had. Cyclopamine Successful open reduction and plate fixation of the overlapped symphysis and percutaneous screw fixation of the ipsilateral acetabulum were done at the same time. An intramedullary nail was inserted for the tibial fracture.
Locked symphysis is a rare trauma and even more complex when associated with acetabular fracture. Both situations may happen at the same time and could be managed operatively.

Leading a normal life and managing daily psychological or physical stress is hard for everybody but when a person is diagnosed with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) during a widespread pandemic, the battle is inescapable. This research aimed to explore some positive dimensions that can lessen the adversities of these women.
We assessed all 200 cases of GDM who were registered in the maternity wards of the government and private hospitals of South Punjab, Pakistan. Respondents were diagnosed with GDM during the first wave of COVID-19. Post-traumatic growth (PTG) inventory, Family environment scale, and Partner supportive communication (PSC) scale were used. SEM and moderation analysis was conducted to test the hypothesized relationship among the variables.
Result showed that elicitation of thoughts and feelings (β = 0.109,
-value = 3.501,
= 0.001), effective listening (β = -0.144,
-value = 1.928,
= 0.054), and communication towards partner (β = -0.209,
-value = 4.850,
= 0.005) significantly moderated the relationship between family environment and post traumatic growth.
This research is beneficial for health practitioners because the trauma of being diagnosed with such a disease can be alleviated by the role of family environment and PSC.
