What's more, it's helpful in deeper understanding of BP development and the relationship between BP and mucous membrane pemphigoid (MMP).Aim To compare the clinical and radiological characteristics of osteomalacia and spondyloarthritis/ankylosing spondylitis (SpA/AS) in order to provide a basis for differential diagnosis. Methods We carried out a retrospective analysis of patients who were diagnosed with osteomalacia at the First Medical Center of 301 Hospital (Beijing, China) from January 2012 to January 2019. The clinical and radiological data of all patients were collected; at the same time, we selected age- and gender-matched patients with SpA/AS for comparison. Results We enrolled a total of 76 patients, 38 with osteomalacia, and 38 with SpA/AS. The mean ages of the two groups were, respectively 44.62 ± 14.90 years and 44.85 ± 9.76 years (P > 0.05). Of patients with osteomalacia, 65.79% (n = 25) had previously been misdiagnosed with SpA/AS. In the osteomalacia and SpA/AS groups, there were, respectively 31 and 33 patients with low back pain, 22 and 13 patients with peripheral arthralgia, and 13 and 3 patients with heel pain. ZCL278 Alkaline phoses between these two diseases could effectively decrease the misdiagnosis rate. Background Exertional heat stroke (EHS) is a life-threatening injury that can lead to acute kidney injury (AKI). The clinical characteristics of and risk factors for EHS complicated with AKI have been poorly documented. Methods A retrospective study with EHS admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) from January 2008 to June 2019 was performed. Data including baseline clinical information at admission, main organ dysfunction, 90-day mortality and total cost of hospitalization were collected. Results A total of 187 patients were finally included, of which 82 (43.9%) had AKI. AKI patients had more severe organ injury and higher total hospitalization costs than non-AKI patients. Multivariate logistic analysis showed that lymphocyte, neutrophil, D-dimer and myoglobin (MB) ≥ 1,000 ng/ml were independent risk factors for AKI caused by EHS. In addition, SOFA score [hazard ratio (HR) 4.1, 95% confidence interval (95% CI) 1.6-10.8, P = 0.004] and GCS score (HR 3.2, 95% CI 1.2-8.4 P = 0.017) were the risk factor for 90-day mortality in patients with EHS complicated with AKI, with an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.920 (95% CI 0.842-0.998, P less then 0.001) and 0.851 (95% CI 0.739-0.962, P less then 0.001), respectively. Survival analysis showed that the 90-day mortality in AKI patients was significantly high (P less then 0.0001) and the mortality rate of patients with AKI stage 2 was the highest than other stages. Conclusions EHS complicated with AKI is associated with higher hospitalization costs and poorly clinical outcomes. MB ≥1,000 ng/ml, Inflammation, coagulation were associated with the occurrence and development of AKI. Early treatment strategies based reducing the SOFA and GCS score may be pivotal for improving the prognosis of EHS.Background Retinoblastoma is the most common primary intraocular malignancy of childhood. Despite high survival and eye salvage as the result of various types of therapies, retinoblastoma remains a disease that places a considerable burden on developing countries. Our study attempted to analyse the research trends in retinoblastoma research and compare contributions from different countries, institutions, journals, and authors. Methods We extracted all publications concerning retinoblastoma from 2001 to 2021 from the Web of Science database. Microsoft Excel and VOSviewer were employed to collect publication data, analyse publication trends, and visualize relevant results. Results A total of 1,675 publications with 30,148 citations were identified. The United States contributed the most publications (643) and citations (16,931 times) with the highest H-index value (67) as of February 4, 2021. China ranked second in the number of publications (259), while ranking fourth in both citations (2,632 times) and the H-index (26) ranked fourth. The British Journal of Ophthalmology was the most productive journal concerning retinoblastoma, and Abramson DH had published the most papers in the field. Keywords were categorized into three clusters; tumor-related research, clinical research, and management-related research. The keywords "intravitreal," "intraarterial," and "intravenous" appeared the most frequently, with the average appearing year being 2018.1, 2017.7, and 2017.1, respectively. Management-related research has been recognized as a heavily researched topic in the field. Conclusion We conclude that the United States, China, and India made the most exceptional contributions in the field of retinoblastoma research, while China still has a disparity between the quantity and quality of publications. Management-related research, including intravitreal, intraarterial, and intravenous chemotherapy was considered as a potential focus for future research. We analyzed middle ear fluid (MEF) and nasopharyngeal swabs (NPS) from spontaneously ruptured acute otitis media (AOM) cases occurring in children under 5 years in Germany. The aim of the study was the assessment of disease burden and bacterial etiology in the era of routine pneumococcal vaccination. Furthermore, we aimed to compare isolates from MEF with isolates from NPS and to analyze the Streptococcus pneumoniae serotype distribution. We analyzed MEF and NPS samples in children 2 months to 5 years for vaccination status, frequency of bacterial strains, serotype/emm-type distribution of S. pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, and Streptococcus pyogenes; and intraindividual correlation between MEF and NPS. From 2008 to 2014, MEF samples were collected from 2,138 subjects of which 2,001 (93.6%) also provided an NPS sample. In 851 of 2,138 MEF samples (39.8%), we identified organisms with confirmed pathogenic potential-S. pyogenes 315 (14.7%), S. pneumoniae 170 (8.0%), Staphylococcus aureus 168 (7.9%), H. infl.7% had a PCV13 serotype. Among non-vaccinated children, the percentages were 14.8 and 70.4. Pneumococcal conjugate vaccination has impacted the prevalence and etiology of spontaneously ruptured otitis media among children in Germany. Overall case numbers and pneumococcal vaccine type cases have strongly decreased.
