However, financial decision-making is not directly assessed in cognitive screenings. Identification of prodromal decline in financial decision-making may help individuals to preserve their financial security and reduce the likelihood of relying on public benefits. This commentary outlines the need for social workers and researchers to better understand the relationship between cognitive health, financial decision-making, and financial security in later life to formulate culturally responsive strategies that can uphold and benefit financial statuses, especially for minoritized communities.Precise identification of Plasmodium species is critical in malaria control and elimination. Despite several shortcomings, microscopy and rapid diagnostic test (RDT) continue to be the leading diagnostic methods. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) is the most sensitive method but its dependency on advanced laboratory and skilled workers limits its use. Here, we compared the diagnostic performance of microscopy, RDT, and PCR in clinically suspected patients from a high malaria burden state (Odisha) of India. The diagnostic performance (sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value) of all three methods was compared using microscopy and PCR as the gold standard. PCR identified 323 (76.5 %) positive cases out of 422 samples, whereas microscopy and RDT identified only 272 (64.4 %) and 266 (63.0 %) positive cases, respectively. The sensitivity of RDT and microscopy for detecting malaria and P. falciparum cases was >80% compared to that by PCR. However, the sensitivity in identifying P. vivax (57.0 %) and a mixture of P. falciparum and P. vivax (18.0 %) was poor. We highlight application of PCR in malaria diagnosis and its benefits in reducing the transmission. This emphasizes the need for incorporation of molecular diagnostic approaches for effective elimination strategies.ABSTRACTThe current study analysed the pacing behaviour of athletes competing in the middle-long track event finals of the IAAF Under 18 and Under 20 World Championships between 2015 and 2018. To examine these issues, researchers gathered survey data from 1955 mine employees from surface stone, sand and gravel (SSG) and industrial mineral operations across the USA between 2016 and 2018, and studied the effects of relationships between justice perceptions, supervisor communication and coworker communication on behavioral safety compliance. Results. Using structural equation modeling, coworker communication partially mediated the direct effects of supervisor communication and justice perceptions on behavioral safety compliance - where the indirect effects were greater for justice perceptions. Conclusion. The results demonstrate the value in formal and informal communication paths to facilitate employee safety compliance; and that enhanced perceptions of job fairness and adaptability enhances coworker communication, further improving compliance in an interdependent environment.Given the increasing popularity of active aging agendas around the globe, the positive and sustainable impacts of welfare services on older adults attracted our attention. Previous studies based on social quality-related theories have examined the effects of different forms of social life mechanism on subjective well-being (SWB) as perceived by older adults. Yet, as evidence continues to emerge pointing to the positive relationship between quality of life and SWB, the present study aimed to incorporate the impacts of three enabling factors of active aging, namely social connectedness, economic support and technology acceptance, in explaining welfare service in terms of satisfaction, needs and awareness, a condition that may also facilitate SWB. The on-site face-to-face survey in Yunlin county was conducted through a rigorous systematic sampling method and ultimately received a valid sample comprising 600 Taiwanese older adults aged 65-101 years (mean age = 76.78 years). Our results showed that social connectedness, economic support and technology acceptance significantly and positively predict SWB among older adults.
