This study aimed to develop two deep learning models to improve the diagnostic rate.

We collected 10,593 images from 4005 patients including 2280 patients with chronic atrophic gastritis and 1725 patients with chronic non-atrophic gastritis from two tertiary hospitals. Two deep learning models were developed to detect chronic atrophic gastritis using ResNet50. The detection ability of the deep learning model was compared with that of three expert endoscopists.

In the external test set, the diagnostic accuracy of model 1 for detecting gastric antrum atrophy was 0.890. The identification accuracies for the severity of gastric antrum atrophy were 0.773 and 0.590 in the internal and external test sets, respectively. In the other two external sets, the detection accuracies of model 2 for chronic atrophic gastritis were 0.854 and 0.916, respectively. Deep learning model 1's ability to identify gastric antrum atrophy was comparable to that of human experts.

In the absence of an effective treatment, many off-label agents from the armamentarium of rheumatology are used. Here, from the perspective of a rheumatologist, we will discuss the current therapeutic strategies in critically ill patients with SARS-CoV-2 pneumonia. Thus, we will discuss the agents that aim to target viral entry and its replication into the host cell and those focusing and targeting the inflammatory response. In this setting, many agents have been used with promising results but, not all have been approved by the International Authorities and Institutions. In 2009, the surgical margin protocol was increased from 10 mm to 15 mm. A retrospective review was performed of all patients who underwent treatment for early OTSCC between 2009 and 2016 with a 15-mm surgical margin (n = 142), and these patients were compared to those treated between 1999 and 2008 with a 10-mm surgical margin (n = 78). There was a significant increase in the rate of clear histological margins (P less then 0.001). The rates of close (P = 0.002) and involved (P less then 0.001) histological margins decreased significantly. There were significant reductions in local (P less then 0.001) and regional (P less then 0.001) recurrence rates. This was a retrospective observational study including all consecutive T4b oral squamous cell carcinoma patients treated surgically between January 2015 and January 2016 and followed up until January 2020. The disease was classified as upper disease or lower disease based on the anatomical location in relation to an imaginary plane passing through the base of the retromolar trigone. The prime objective was to evaluate overall survival and prognostic factors affecting overall survival. The projected 5-year overall and disease-free survival rates were 40.7% and 35.6%, respectively. The assessment of prognostic factors revealed that lower disease (lower anatomical subsites), bone invasion, and lymph nodal spread significantly affected survival. Patients with disease in an upper anatomical location without bone and nodal involvement can achieve fairly good survival (projected 5-year overall survival of 64.2%) when compared to the other subsets of patients. However, the effects of NMN on skin pigmentation are still unknown.

In this study, we aimed to demonstrate the effects of NMN on melanogenesis.

NMN was applied to both young and aged melanocytes, and melanin production, protein expression, and mRNA levels were analyzed. A reconstituted human skin model was used to validate the effect of NMN on melanogenesis in vivo.

NMN treatment showed no apparent effects on young melanocytes, however, in aged melanocytes, a marked reduction in melanin production was observed. NMN treatment also efficiently reduced melanin production in a reconstituted human skin with aged melanocytes. Genome-wide analysis showed the downregulation of melanogenesis-related cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP)/Wnt signaling in aged melanocytes. Moreover, NMN treatment downregulated forskolin-induced expression of melanogenesis-related proteins, tyrosinase (TYR), tyrosinase-related protein (TRP)-1, and TRP-2.
