To evaluate whether anthropometric data can predict anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) sizes on magneti resonance imaging (MRI) in Asian population.

Reconstruction of ACL has been performed over a decade ago. Recently, more individualized ACL reconstruction is performed taking account of each patient's ACL characteristics. However, there has been limited study regarding ACL sizes in Asian Indonesian population. This study aimed to evaluate the role of anthropometric data in ACL sizes using MRI in Asian Indonesian population.

A series of 531 knees from 420 patients with knee pain and intact ACL confirmed by MRI study. Length, width and inclination angle of ACL were measured using a T2-weighted sagittal MRI 3.0 Tesla Magnetom Skyra. Height, weight, body mass index (BMI) and age were recorded. Multiple regression analysis was used to determine relationship between the anthropometric data and size of ACL measurements.

To compare the effects of remifentanil versus fentanyl during light sedation with dexmedetomidine in adults receiving mechanical ventilation (MV) in the intensive care unit.

In this retrospective cohort study, we compared the use of remifentanil versus fentanyl in adults receiving MV with dexmedetomidine sedation. The primary outcome was the proportion of time under light sedation (Richmond Agitation-Sedation Scale score between -1 and 0) during MV.

We included 94 patients and classified 58 into the remifentanil group and 36 into the fentanyl group. The mean proportion of time under light sedation during MV was 66.6% ± 18.5% in the remifentanil group and 39.9% ± 27.3% in the fentanyl group. In the multivariate analysis with control for confounding factors, patients in the remifentanil group showed a significantly higher proportion of time under light sedation than patients in the fentanyl group (mean difference 24.3 percentage points; 95% confidence interval 12.9-35.8).

We measured this variation in the photoperiodic time-measuring system underlying reproductive diapause in Drosophila montana, using a Nanda-Hamner (NH) protocol. None of the study strains showed diel rhythmicity in female diapause proportions under a constant day length (12 h) and varying night lengths in photoperiods ranging from 16 to 84 h at 16°C. In the northernmost strains (above 55°N), nearly all females entered diapause under all photoperiods and about half of them even in continuous darkness, while the females of the southern strains showed high diapause proportions only in the circadian 24 h photoperiod. Significant correlation between the strains' mean diapause proportions in ≥ 24 h photoperiods and critical day length (CDL; half of the females enter diapause) suggests at least partial causal connection between the traits. Interestingly, females of the northern strains entered diapause even in ≤ 24 h photoperiods, where the night length was shorter than their critical night length (24 h - CDL), but where the females experienced a higher number of LightDark cycles than in 24 h photoperiods. Methods. A total of 15 piglets were included. In each piglet, three circular stapled end-to-end anastomoses were made in the small intestines. Two were interventional and one was a control. On POD 10, 20, or 30, the anastomoses were subjected to in vivo intraluminal contrast study, and the index for anastomotic lumen was calculated. The anastomotic segment was resected and subjected to a tensile strength test and histological examination. Results. At POD 10, the mean ± SD value for anastomotic index was .749 ± .065 in control anastomoses and .637 ± .051 in interventional anastomosis (P = .0046), at POD 20, .541 ± .150 and .724 ± .07 (P = .051), and at POD 30, .645 ± .103 and .686 ± .057 (P = .341), respectively. No significant difference was observed in maximum tensile strength and histology at POD 30. Conclusions. The incorporation of a PCL scaffold in a circular stapled end-to-end small intestine anastomosis does not increase the risk of stricture or impair wound healing after 30 days.

To determine the levels of COVID-19-related fear and to investigate fear-associated factors among older people.

This study was conducted with patients aged 65 years and older from the Family Medicine Clinic of Health Sciences University Şişli Hamidiye Etfal Hospital over a 1-month period. A telephone survey was administered to evaluate patients' sociodemographic data and knowledge level on the COVID-19 pandemic and the degree of its impact. The fear levels of participants were determined using the fear of COVID-19 scale (FCV-19 S). Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 15.0. A p value of < 0.05 was considered to be statistically significant.

The study included 315 participants 178 were female and 137 were male. The mean age was 71.5 ± 5.6 (min 65, max 94) years, and 26 participants were living alone. Moreover, 47.6% participants considered they had sufficient information about the COVID-19 outbreak, and 61.6% received information about the pandemic from television and 22.2% from their inner circle.
