Additionally, Burst SCS significantly increased BOLD signal in the raphe nuclei, the nucleus accumbens and caudate putamen. Tonic SCS did not induce a significant increase in BOLD signal in these areas. CONCLUSIONS In conclusion, active recharge Burst and Tonic SCS have different effects on the intensity and localization of SCS-induced activation responses in the brain. This work demonstrates that active recharge burst is another waveform that can engage brain areas associated with cognitive-emotional aspects of pain as well as areas associated with location and intensity of pain. Previous studies showing similar engagement used only passive recharge burst. This article is protected by copyright. The LSAC is a prospective cohort study of Australian children representative of the population with two cohorts Kinder (birth year 1999/2000) and Birth cohort (birth year 2003/2004). Children in the Birth and Kinder cohort with parent- and teacher-reported ASD prevalence were compared to children without ASD. There were N = 3,381 (66%) responding in the Birth cohort at age 12 and N = 3,089 (62%) for the Kinder cohort at age 16. Quality of life was measured by the Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory, and emotional/behavior problems using the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire. selleck kinase inhibitor Parent-reported ASD prevalence increased to 4.36% [95% CI 3.56-5.19] at age 12-13 years in the Birth cohort and 2.60% [95% CI 2.07-3.31] in the Kinder cohort. Kinder cohort ASD children had more parent- and teacher-reported social problems, and lower parent-reported social and psychosocial quality of life. link2 As expected, parent-reported ASD prevalence continued to rise. The higher prevalence in the Birth cohort may relate to milder cases of ASD being diagnosed. LAY SUMMARY Parent-reported ASD prevalence in 2016 in 12-year-old children from the Birth cohort of the Longitudinal Study of Australian Children was 4.4%, and higher than the 2.6% in the earlier born Kinder cohort. The Birth cohort had a milder presentation with fewer social, emotional, and behavioral problems than the Kinder cohort. Milder cases of ASD are being diagnosed in Australia resulting in one of the highest reported prevalence rates in the world. © 2020 International Society for Autism Research, Wiley Periodicals, Inc.OBJECTIVE To evaluate the effect of a 12-week whole-body vibration (WBV) training program on quadriceps muscle strength, quadriceps thickness, the 6-min walk test (6MWT), respiratory muscle strength and quality of life in adults with a kidney transplant. METHOD Five renal transplant recipients (age 43-52 years; body mass 67.1 kg; height 1.60 m) were examined individually before and after a 12-week WBV program (two weekly sessions, 35 Hz frequency, 2-4 mm amplitude) using quadriceps strength, quadriceps thickness, 6-min walking test, inspiratory muscle strength and quality of life. RESULTS There were no complications during WBV protocol, and the program was considered safe. Two of the participants changed quadriceps muscle strength, and one increased muscle thickness. Inspiratory muscle strength improved in one participant. The distance covered on 6MWT increased for two participants. Most of the subjects (P3, P4 and P5) reported improved quality of life, mainly regarding pain and social aspects. CONCLUSION The protocol improved the physical function and quality of life in some of the patients. However, WBV training prescription should be adjusted according to individual needs. Thus, studying the use of WBV in this patient group is necessary to understand and apply the benefits for this population. link3 © 2020 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.Aqueous zinc-ion batteries have been developed rapidly recently as promising energy storage devices in large-scale energy storage systems owing to their low cost and high safety. The research on suppressing zinc dendrite growth has meanwhile attracted widespread attention in order to improve the lifespan and reversibility of batteries. Herein, design methods for dendrite-free zinc anodes and their internal mechanisms are reviewed from the perspective of optimizing host-zinc interface and zinc-electrolyte interface. Furthermore, we propose a design strategy to homogenize zinc deposition by regulating the interfacial electric field and ion distribution during zinc nucleation and growth. This Minireview can offer potential directions for the rational design of dendrite-free zinc anodes employed in aqueous zinc-ion batteries. © 2020 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. They are often associated with neutropenia and responsive to immunosuppression. The true nature of this entity is not well understood. Some cases are reported as reactive phenomena with very limited experience in pediatric population. METHODS Hematology/Oncology Flow Cytometry Laboratory database has been reviewed retrospectively. Patients with identifiable distinct CD5-dim T-cell population and positive clonal T-cell receptor rearrangement were included in the analysis. Clinical and laboratory data were then reviewed. RESULTS Sixteen cases of children and young adults with increased peripheral blood clonal T-LGL population characterized by dim CD5 expression with wide range of underlying immune dysregulation/stimulation disorders were reviewed. Extended follow up with repeat testing suggested the reactive nature of persistent clonal T-LGL proliferations in this group. CONCLUSIONS Our observations indicate that clonal T-LGL proliferations in children and young adults are reactive in nature and some can be persistent with an indolent course with unknown consequentiality. Clonal T-LGL cells could be targeting the most prominent immunogenic stressor(s) involved as a control mechanism. © 2020 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.Several studies in humans and rodents suggest an association between impulsivity and activity of the stress response on the one hand and addiction vulnerability on the other. The neural cell adhesion molecule (NCAM) has been related to several neuropsychiatric disorders in humans. Constitutively NCAM-deficient (-/-) mice display enhanced novelty-induced behavior and hyperfunction of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis. Here we hypothesize that NCAM deficiency causes an altered response to cocaine. Cocaine-induced behaviors of NCAM-/- mice and wild-type (+/+) littermates were analyzed in the conditioned place preference (CPP) test. c-fos mRNA levels were investigated by quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) to measure neural activation after exposure to the cocaine-associated context. NCAM-/- mice showed an elevated cocaine-induced sensitization, enhanced CPP, impaired extinction, and potentiated cocaine-induced hyperlocomotion and CPP after extinction. NCAM-/- showed no potentiated CPP as compared with NCAM+/+ littermates when a natural rewarding stimulus (ie, an unfamiliar female) was used, suggesting that the behavioral alterations of NCAM-/- mice observed in the CPP test are specific to the effects of cocaine. Activation of the prefrontal cortex and nucleus accumbens induced by the cocaine-associated context was enhanced in NCAM-/- compared with NCAM+/+ mice. Finally, cocaine-induced behavior correlated positively with novelty-induced behavior and plasma corticosterone levels in NCAM-/- mice and negatively with NCAM mRNA levels in the hippocampus and nucleus accumbens in wild-type mice. Our findings indicate that NCAM deficiency affects cocaine-induced CPP in mice and support the view that hyperfunction of the stress response system and reactivity to novelty predict the behavioral responses to cocaine. © 2020 The Authors. METHODS Publications in the following databases were searched up to December 2018 Cochrane Library, PubMed, Scopus, SPORTDiscus and Web of Science. Both randomised controlled and non-randomised trials, plus cross-sectional studies that evaluated foot sensitivity and balance in adults and/or older people, were investigated. RESULTS A total of 152 studies were found, 14 studies were included and 506 people of both sexes were involved in the included studies. CONCLUSIONS Increased age represented a detrimental effect on foot sensitivity. Most studies showed that decreased foot sensitivity was related to worse balance and/or postural stability. Overweight or obesity was associated with plantar sensitivity, with lower sensitivity and decreased postural stability observed in obese people. © 2020 AJA Inc.We chose to understand the cyclic instability and rate instability issues in the promising class of  Na + conversion and alloying anodes with Sb 2 Se 3 as a typical example.  We employ a synthetic strategy that ensures efficient rGO (reduced graphene oxide) wrapping over Sb 2 Se 3 material. By utilization of the minimum weight of additive (5 wt.% of rGO), we achieved the commendable performance with the reversible capacity of 550 mAh g -1 at a specific current of 100 mA g -1 and an impressive rate performance with 100% capacity retention after high current cycling involving a 2Ag -1 intermediate current step.   The electrochemical galvanostatic intermittent titration technique (GITT) has been employed for the first time to draw a rationale between the enhanced performance and the increased mobility in the rGO wrapped composite (Sb 2 Se 3 -rGO) compared to bare Sb 2 Se 3 . GITT analysis reveals higher Na + diffusion coefficients (approx. 30 fold higher) in the case of Sb 2 Se 3 -rGO as compared to bare Sb 2 Se 3 throughout the operating voltage window. For Sb 2 Se 3 -rGO the diffusion coefficients in the range of 8.0 x 10 -15 cm 2 s -1 to 2.2 x 10 -12 cm 2 s -1 were observed, while in case of bare Sb 2 Se 3 the diffusion coefficients in the range of 1.6 x 10 -15 cm 2 s -1 to 9.4 x 10 -15 cm 2 s -1 were observed. © 2020 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim.BACKGROUND Hepatoblastoma (HB) is the most common pediatric liver malignancy, occurring mainly during the first 4 years of life. Recent studies unraveled the frequent, coordinated activation of Wnt/β-catenin and YAP/Hippo (where YAP is yes-associated protein) pathways in human HB samples. Furthermore, it was found that concomitant overexpression of activated forms of β-catenin and YAP in the mouse liver triggers HB formation in YAP/β-catenin mice. Cyclin-dependent kinases 9 (CDK9) is an elongating kinase, which has been shown to mediate YAP-driven tumorigenesis. The role of CDK9 in HB molecular pathogenesis has not been investigated to date. METHODS CDK9 expression was determined in human HB lesions, HB cell lines, and YAP/β-catenin mouse livers. CDK9 was silenced in human HB cell lines and the effects on growth rate and YAP targets were analyzed. Hydrodynamic transfection of YAPS127A and ∆N90-β-catenin together with either shCdk9 or control shLuc (where Luc is luciferase) plasmids was employed to assess the requirement of Cdk9 for HB development in vivo.
