Given the ex-post facto linear design, the predictions could be verified for each situation by means of logistic regression analyses and Structural Equations Models (SEM). Empirical results lent support, in varying degree, to the proposed theoretical relations. The testing situation was of particular interest. We discuss implications for perfectionism research and for the practice of prevention, education and health care in the university setting. The microsporidium Nosema ceranae is a high prevalent parasite of the European honey bee (Apis mellifera). This parasite is spreading across the world into its novel host. The developmental process, and some mechanisms of N. ceranae-infected honey bees, has been studied thoroughly; however, few studies have been carried out in the mechanism of gene expression in N. ceranae during the infection process. We therefore performed the suppressive subtractive hybridization (SSH) approach to investigate the candidate genes of N. ceranae during its infection process. All 96 clones of infected (forward) and non-infected (reverse) library were dipped onto the membrane for hybridization. A total of 112 differentially expressed sequence tags (ESTs) had been sequenced. For the host responses, 20% of ESTs (13 ESTs, 10 genes, and 1 non-coding RNA) from the forward library and 93.6% of ESTs (44 ESTs, 28 genes) from the reverse library were identified as differentially expressed genes (DEGs) of the hosts. A high percentage of DEGs involved in catalytic activity and metabolic processes revealed that the host gene expression change after N. ceranae infection might lead to an unbalance of physiological mechanism. Among the ESTs from the forward library, 75.4% ESTs (49 ESTs belonged to 24 genes) were identified as N. ceranae genes. Out of 24 N. ceranae genes, nine DEGs were subject to real-time quantitative reverse transcription PCR (real-time qRT-PCR) for validation. The results indicated that these genes were highly expressed during N. ceranae infection. Among nine N. ceranae genes, one N. ceranae gene (AAJ76_1600052943) showed the highest expression level after infection. These identified differentially expressed genes from this SSH could provide information about the pathological effects of N. ceranae. Validation of nine up-regulated N. ceranae genes reveal high potential for the detection of early nosemosis in the field and provide insight for further applications. Here, we report the synthesis and thermophysical properties of seven primarily aromatic, imidazolium-based polyamide ionenes. The effects of varied para-, meta-, and ortho-connectivity, and spacing of ionic and amide functional groups, on structural and thermophysical properties were analyzed. Suitable, robust derivatives were cast into thin films, neat, or with stoichiometric equivalents of the ionic liquid (IL) 1-benzy-3-methylimidazolium bistriflimide ([Bnmim][Tf2N]), and the gas transport properties of these membranes were measured. Pure gas permeabilities and permselectivities for N2, CH4, and CO2 are reported. Consistent para-connectivity in the backbone was shown to yield the highest CO2 permeability and suitability for casting as a very thin, flexible film. Derivatives containing terephthalamide segments exhibited the highest CO2/CH4 and CO2/N2 selectivities, yet CO2 permeability decreased with further deviation from consistent para-linkages.A type lamins are fundamental components of the nuclear lamina. Changes in lamin A expression correlate with malignant transformation in several cancers. However, the role of lamin A has not been explored in osteosarcoma (OS). Here, we wanted to investigate the role of lamin A in normal osteoblasts (OBs) and OS cells. Thus, we studied the expression of lamin A/C in OS cells compared to OBs and evaluated the effects of lamin A overexpression in OS cell lines. We show that, while lamin A expression increases during osteoblast differentiation, all examined OS cell lines express lower lamin A levels relative to differentiated OBs. The condition of low LMNA expression confers to OS cells a significant increase in migration potential, while overexpression of lamin A reduces migration ability of OS cells. Moreover, overexpression of unprocessable prelamin A also reduces cell migration. In agreement with the latter finding, OS cells which accumulate the highest prelamin A levels upon inhibition of lamin A maturation by statins, had significantly reduced migration ability. Importantly, OS cells subjected to statin treatment underwent apoptotic cell death in a RAS-independent, lamin A-dependent manner. Our results show that pro-apoptotic effects of statins and statin inhibitory effect on OS cell migration are comparable to those obtained by prelamin A accumulation and further suggest that modulation of lamin A expression and post-translational processing can be a tool to decrease migration potential in OS cells.Maintaining environmental conditions for proper plant growth in greenhouses requires managing a variety of factors; ventilation is particularly important because inside temperatures can rise rapidly in warm climates. The structure of the window installed in a greenhouse is very diverse, and it is difficult to identify the characteristics that affect the temperature inside the greenhouse when multiple windows are driven, respectively. In this study, a new ventilation control logic using an output feedback neural-network (OFNN) prediction and optimization method was developed, and this approach was tested in multi-window greenhouses used for strawberry production. The developed prediction model used 15 inputs and achieved a highly accurate performance (R2 of 0.94). In addition, the method using an algorithm based on an OFNN was proposed for optimizing considered six window-opening behavior. Three case studies confirmed the optimization performance of OFNN in the nonlinear model and verified the performance through simulations. Ruboxistaurin supplier Finally, a control system based on this logic was used in a field experiment for six days by comparing two greenhouses driven by conventional control logic and the developed control logic; a comparison of the results showed RMSEs of 3.01 °C and 2.45 °C, respectively. It confirmed the improved control performance in comparison to a conventional ventilation control system.
