Rare genetic variants contribute to the etiology of both autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and schizophrenia (SCZ). Protein microarray is a well-established approach for characterizing activity levels of thousands of proteins in a parallel manner. Analysis of protein microarray data is complex and time-consuming, while existing solutions are either outdated or challenging to use without programming skills. The typical data analysis pipeline consists of a data preprocessing step, followed by differential expression analysis, which is then put into context via functional enrichment. Normally, biologists would need to assemble their own workflow by combining a set of unrelated tools to analyze experimental data. Provided that most of these tools are developed independently by various bioinformatics groups, making them work together could be a real challenge.

Here we present PAWER, the online web tool dedicated solely to protein microarray analysis. PAWER enables biologists to carry out all the necessary analysis steps in one go. The main difficulties in the treatment of onychomycosis refer to the duration of treatments and their side effects. Thus, it becomes relevant to look for new therapeutic alternatives in the treatment of such common diseases that are efficient without causing the undesirable side effects on the patient's body. In this way, the objective of this study was to develop an anthroposophical formula for the treatment of onychomycosis, based on Phosphorus and Formica rufa, from an extensive bibliographic survey on the functions of these components, evaluating within the principles of Anthroposophy. Considering the set of knowledge and practices on the use of these components, it was possible to arrive at a proposal therapy that can be effective for the treatment of onychomycosis. After an extensive review of several existing patents, it was observed that formulations containing Phosphorus and Formica rufa together have not been described in other studies. Subsequently, our research group published a patent of the anthroposophical formula using these two components, with the number BR1020180750755, which will be efficient to help the recovery of nails, and facilitate normal growth.

Drug- and multidrug-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates have been found worldwide. Treatment failures against carbapenems and extended-spectrum cephalosporins, the currently recommended drugs, contribute to consider K. pneumoniae infections as untreatable infections. The emergence and spread of oxacillinases (OXAs) with carbapenem-hydrolysing properties are a major concern and seriously become a public health problem worldwide. The present study was aimed to explore the blaOXA genes among clinical isolates of K. pneumoniae in some clinical settings in Tehran, Iran.

Ninety K. pneumoniae isolates were collected from different clinical samples at hospitals in Tehran during 2016 and 2018. Antimicrobial susceptibility testing was performed on bacterial isolates using the Kirby-Bauer disc diffusion method on Mueller Hinton agar plates. PCR experiments were carried out to detect the presence of the blaOXA genes, including blaOXA-1, blaOXA-2, blaOXA-4, blaOXA10, and blaOXA-48-like, using specific primers.

A 30-year-old Sudanese male patient presented to our hospital with a complaint of fever associated with confusion for three days. He had signs of meningeal irritation in the form of neck stiffness, positive Kernig's, and Lesage's sign. The computerized tomography of the brain was normal. The CSF analysis showed a clear colorless sample with normal tension, decreased glucose, and slightly increased CSF protein level. We reviewed his occupational history; the patient was a farmer with regular contact with cattle and camels. The patient had positive Brucella antibodies for both B.Abortus and B. melitensis with a high titer (1/640). As described in various patents, we administrated triple therapy for brucellosis for two weeks. A marked improvement of the conscious level was observed, and the patient was back to normal within a few days post-treatment.

In Latin America hypertension prevalence varies from 30 to 50%. Moreover, the proportion of awareness, treatment and control of hypertension is very low. The prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus varies from 8 to 13% and near to 40% are unaware of their condition. In addition, the prevalence of prediabetes varies from 6 to 14% and this condition has been also associated with increased risk of cardiovascular diseases. The principal factors linked to a higher risk of hypertension in Latin America are increased adiposity, low muscle strength, unhealthy diet, low physical activity and low education. Besides being chronic conditions, leading causes of cardiovascular mortality, both hypertension and type 2 diabetes mellitus represent a substantial cost for the weak health systems of Latin American countries. Therefore, is necessary to implement and reinforce public health programs to improve awareness, treatment and control of hypertension and type 2 diabetes mellitus, in order to reach the mandate of the Unit Nations of decrease the premature mortality for CVD.
