OBJECTIVES The aim was to measure the effective dose of flat-detector CT (FDCT) whole-brain imaging, biphasic FDCT angiography (FDCT-A), and FDCT perfusion (FDCT-P) protocols and compare it to previously reported effective dose values of multidetector CT (MDCT) applications. MATERIALS We measured effective dose according to the IRCP 103 using an anthropomorphic phantom equipped with thermoluminescent dosimeters (TLDs). Placement was according to anatomical positions of each organ. In total, 60 TLDs (≥ 4 TLDs/organ) were placed into and onto the phantom to account for all relevant organs. Organs within the primary beam were covered with more TLDs. Additionally, we measured dose to the eye lens with two TLDs per eye. Protocols which we routinely use in clinical practice were measured on a biplane angiography system. RESULTS The effective dose of the 20-s protocol/7-s protocol for whole-brain imaging was 2.6 mSv/2.4 mSv. The radiation dose to the eye lens was 24/23 mGy. For the biphasic high-/low-dose FDCT-A pron younger patients should be evaluated in the future.OBJECTIVES To identify quantitative imaging features of contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CE-CT) that may be prognostically favorable after resection of smaller (≤ 30 mm) pancreatic ductal adenocarcinomas (PDACs) located at head. METHODS This retrospective study included two independent cohorts (discovery cohort, n = 212; test cohort, n = 100) of patients who underwent resection of head PDACs ≤ 30 mm and preoperative CE-CT. We examined tumor and surrounding parenchymal attenuation differences (deltas), and tumor attenuation changes across phases (ratios). Semantic features of PDACs were evaluated by two radiologists. Clinicopathologic and imaging features for predicting disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS) were analyzed via multivariate Lasso-penalized Cox proportional-hazards models. Survival rates were derived by Kaplan-Meier method. RESULTS Imaging features achieved C-indices of 0.766 (discovery cohort) and 0.739 (test cohort) for DFS, and 0.790 (discovery cohort) and 0.772 (test cohoing results for the prognosis of resected PDAC (≤ 30 mm) at head location, through incorporation of clinicopathologic features. • Attenuation difference at tumor-parenchyma interface (delta 3) emerged as the most decisive imaging feature, enabling further stratification of patients into distinct prognostic subtypes by tumor size. • High delta 3 signifies sharper contrast between tumor and surrounding pancreas, correlating with more aggressive histologic grades and less extensive tumor fibrous stromal fractions.OBJECTIVES To assess the intraoperative neuroimaging findings in patients treated with transcranial MR-guided focused ultrasound (tcMRgFUS) thalamotomy using 1.5T equipment in comparison with the 48-h follow-up. METHODS Fifty prospectively enrolled patients undergoing unilateral tcMRgFUS thalamotomy for either medication-refractory essential tremor (n = 39) or Parkinson tremor (n = 11) were included. Two radiologists evaluated the presence and size of concentric lesional zones (zone I, zone II, and zone III) on 2D T2-weighted sequences acquired intraoperatively after the last high-energy sonication and at 48 h. Sonication parameters including number of sonications, delivered energy, and treatment temperatures were also recorded. Differences in lesion pattern and size were assessed using the McNemar test and paired t test, respectively. RESULTS Zones I, II, and III were visualized in 34 (68%), 50 (100%), and 44 (88%) patients, and 31 (62%), 50 (100%), and 45 (90%) patients after the last high-energy sonication for R1 and R2, respectively. All three concentric zones were visualized intraoperatively in 56-58% of cases. Zone I was significantly more commonly visualized at 48 h (p  6 mm at 48 h. CONCLUSIONS Intraoperative imaging may accurately detect typical lesional findings, before completing the treatment. These imaging characteristics significantly correlate with sonication parameters and 48-h follow-up. KEY POINTS • Intraoperative T2-weighted images allow the visualization of the zone I (coagulation necrosis) in most of the treated patients, while zone II (cytotoxic edema) is always detected. • Lesion size depicted with intraoperative transcranial MRgFUS imaging correlates well with procedure parameters. • Intraoperative transcranial MRgFUS imaging may have a significant added value for treating physicians.BACKGROUND In the vast majority of the laboratory-confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients, computed tomography (CT) examinations yield a typical pattern and the sensitivity of this modality has been reported to be 97% in a large-scale study. Structured reporting systems simplify the interpretation and reporting of imaging examinations, serve as a framework for consistent generation of recommendations, and improve the quality of patient care. Navitoclax cost PURPOSE To compose a comprehensive lexicon for description of the imaging findings and propose a grading system and structured reporting format for CT findings in COVID-19. MATERIAL AND METHODS We updated our published systematic review on imaging findings in COVID-19 to include 37 published studies pertaining to diagnostic features of COVID-19 in chest CT. Using the reported imaging findings of 3647 patients, we summarized the typical chest CT findings, atypical features, and temporal changes of COVID-19 in chest CT. Subsequently, we extracted a list of deunication of findings to other healthcare providers, thus facilitating the diagnosis and management of COVID-19 patients.BACKGROUND Styloidogenic jugular venous compression syndrome (SJVCS) has been shown to present with a similar symptomatology to idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) and is caused by compression of the internal jugular vein (IJV) between the lateral tubercle of C1 and the styloid process. Treatments including venous stenting and styloidectomy have been reported with good outcomes; however, treatment of a pediatric patient with SJVCS with styloidectomy has not previously been reported in the literature. CASE REPORT A 12-year-old male presented with refractory positional headaches, nausea, and vomiting, and after, workup including lumbar puncture (LP) and intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring was found to have intracranial hypertension associated with contralateral neck turning. Computed tomography venogram (CTV) revealed severe bilateral compression of the IJV's between the styloid processes and C1 tubercle. The patient was successfully treated with unilateral right-sided styloidectomy with symptomatic relief.
