The connection of Hg with neurodegeneration and autoimmunity has been highlighted. We have also discussed the role of chelating agents and the preventive strategies to combat the neurotoxic effects of Hg in the modern world.Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) is a rare immune deregulatory disorder that predominantly presents in children. Here we describe three patients with adult-onset primary HLH whose initial presentations were characterized by neurological features, and we review the literature of published cases. These cases ranged in age from 17 to 30 and presented with a variety of neurological symptoms. One of our cases demonstrated numerous microhemorrhages on MR brain. This is the first published case of adult-onset HLH presenting with cerebral microhemorrhages. In addition, literature review identified five additional patients with isolated central nervous system presentation of primary HLH.The objective of the present study was to evaluate whether declarative memory deficits are related to executive function deficits (EF), since they could be a consequence of a poor organization of the material to memorize. This interaction between both cognitive processes can be studied simultaneously in a single task such as the Test of Memory Strategies (TSM). 23 patients with paranoid schizophrenic disorder, 11 with bipolar disorder with psychotic symptoms, 13 with bipolar disorder without psychotic symptoms and 15 healthy subjects were evaluated with the TSM; with the memory test Texts A and B (subtest of the Barcelona neuropsychological assessment battery), which assesses short-term and immediate recall without the influence of EF; and with the Trail Making Test (TMT) Part A (sustained attention) and Part B (executive control). The patients groups and the control group showed an improvement in memory performance across each of the TSM conditions. However, this facilitating effect of the strategies differed among the groups (the patients with higher EF deficits showed less improvement). Regarding these results, we conclude that this cognitive process cannot be independent of EF. However, due to the pilot nature of this study, it would be recommended to replicate these findings in new studies.Accumulating evidence indicates that INHBA (Inhibin β-A, a member of the TGF-β superfamily) functions as an oncogene in cancer progression. However, little is known as to how INHBA regulates the progression and aggressiveness of breast cancer (BC). This study explored the function and underlying mechanism of INHBA in epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) of BC cells. INHBA expression in BC cell lines was measured using RT-qPCR and Western blot. The would-healing and transwell migration assays were used to investigate the effect of INHBA overexpression or silencing on BC cell motility. Dibutyryl-cAMP solubility dmso Moreover, the expression levels of EMT-related genes were quantified after overexpressing or silencing of INHBA. Based on published dataset, INHBA was significantly upregulated in BC tissues compared to the adjacent normal tissues. A higher level of INHBA expression was also correlated with a poor survival in BC patients. In addition, in vitro study showed that INHBA played an indispensable role in promoting BC cell proliferation and invasion. Mechanistically, INHBA induced epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and accelerated the motility of BC cells by activating TGF-β-regulated genes. In conclusion, INHBA plays a functional role in supporting EMT phenotype of BC cells, and it may serve as a diagnostic biomarker and a potential therapeutic target for BC treatment. We aim to determine the effect of antenatal education on the attitudes of expectant mothers toward birth, maternal role attainment and self-confidence levels. We carried out this quasi-experimental, non-randomized, prospective study in a hospital located in Istanbul, in the pre- and post-education model. Women in the education group (EG = 60) attended 6 weeks of education. Women in the control group (CG = 60) participated in a periodic follow-up visit. We collected the data using Childbirth Attitudes Questionnaire (CAQ), Pharis Self-Confidence Scale (PSCS), and Semantic Differential Scale-Myself as Mother (MMS). We made three measures in total in the first visit, after six weeks and in the sixth week postpartum. We found the mean scores of second measurement of CAQ, PSCS, third measurement of MMS statistically significant in favor of EG (p  less then  0.05). Antenatal educations positively affect childbirth attitude, maternal role attainment and self-confidence levels.Supplemental data for this article is available online at https//doi.org/10.1080/07399332.2021.1935959 .

We analyzed the association between individual frailty-related factors and depression in older adults.

A total of 796 older adults who underwent geriatric assessments were included in this cross-sectional study. The frailty-related factors studied were grip strength, physical activity, walking speed, weight loss, and recurrent falls. Depression was based on the Geriatric Depression Scale.

After adjustment for covariates, recurrent falls were associated with depression in males (OR 3.84, 95% CI 1.30-11.35). Among females, weakest grip strength, slow walking speed, and weight loss were associated with depression (OR 2.61, 95% CI 1.52-4.49; OR 1.78, 95% CI 1.02-3.11; and OR 2.52, 95% CI 1.17-5.44, respectively). Having more frailty-related factors was also associated with higher odds of depression.

The associations between individual frailty-related factors and depression differed among males and females. link2 Further prospective studies on depression and individual frailty-related factors by sex may help elucidate specific targets to be prioritized for clinical assessment and intervention.

Older adults affected by depression and frailty may present different clinical manifestations based on sex, and require different treatment approaches. Clinicians should assess both physical and psychological needs for integrated care in frail older adults.

We hypothesized that while under normal circumstances attention ensures an optimal control strategy that leads to accurate motor performance, during mind wandering the process becomes disrupted. In this study, we conducted a computer-based experiment with a tracking task. During mind wandering, motor movements were more erratic and less variable, indicative of reduced attentiveness to the continuous demands of the external task. Importantly, the deeper the reported mind wandering, the less accurate and less variable were the mouse movements, suggesting that perceptual decoupling may take place in a graded rather than in an all or nothing manner. Greater movement intermittency was associated with higher tracking accuracy, suggesting that more corrective movements toward a moving target were functional to task performance. Moreover, greater variance in velocity was negatively correlated with tracking accuracy. These findings suggest that periods of inattention to the task have a negative impact on fine motor movement control by making behavior unpredictable, providing support for the idea that there is a decoupling of sensory-motor processes during mind wandering.Intramuscular fat is positively related to meat quality including tenderness, flavor, and juiciness. Long noncoding RNA (LncRNA) plays a vital role in regulating adipogenesis. However, it is largely unknown about lncRNAs associated with porcine intramuscular adipocyte adipogenesis. In the present study, we focus on a novel LncRNA, which is named lncIMF2, associated with adipogenesis by our previous RNA-sequence analysis and bioinformatics analysis. We demonstrated LncIMF2 knockdown inhibited the proliferation of porcine intramuscular adipocytes while expression of cell cycle-related genes was decreased. link3 Besides, we found LncIMF2 knockdown inhibited expression of adipogenic differentiation marker genes including PPARγ (Peroxisome proliferator-activated reporter gamma) and ATGL (Adipose triglyceride lipase). Similarly, overexpression of LncIMF2 promotes proliferation and differentiation of porcine intramuscular preadipocytes. Moreover, we proved that IncIMF2 acts as a molecular sponge for MicroRNA-217 (miR-217), which has been found associated with adipogenesis, thereby affecting the expression of the miR-217 target gene. Collectively, our findings will contribute to a deeper understanding of the role of LncRNA in pig IMF deposition for the improvement of meat quality. This paper aims to investigate the influence of increasing chitosan doses on the relative proportion and abundance of cellulotytic, amylolytic bacteria, and Archaea transcripts for grazing cattle. Five rumen cannulated crossbread steers [3.6 months and 300 ± 25 kg body LW (live weight), mean ± standard deviation] were used in a 5 × 5 latin square design, randomly assigned to treatment sequence containing chitosan added to 0, 400, 800, 1200, or 1600 mg/kg concentrate. There was the effect of chitosan on the population of Fibrobacter succinogenes, Ruminococcus albus, and Archaea. The lowest population of these bacteria of 576.60 mg/kg DM (dry matter), 1010.40 mg/kg DM, and 634.80 mg/kg DM were noted when chitosan was added at levels of 3.87, 4.16, and 3.52. Except for Ruminococcus albus, which was not affected by increasing chitosan doses, supplementation of this additive in the concentrate quadratically increased the relative abundance of Fibrobacter succinogenes and Archaea Supplemental 740 mg CHI/kg concentrate for grazing steers receiving concentrate at 150 grams/100 kg LW is recommended to promote minimal effect on the relative population and abundance of cellulolytics and amylomatics and to restrict Archaea growth.Ras-related Protein Rap1b, a GTP-binding protein belonging to the proximal RAS, which affects tumor progression through regulating tumor cell proliferation, invasion and participates in the functions of various immune cells. However, the potential roles and mechanisms of Rap1b in tumor progression and immunology remains unclear. In this study, we systematically analyzed the pan-cancer expression and prognostic correlation of Rap1b based on GTEX, CCLE, Oncomine, PrognoScan, Kaplan-Meier plotters and TCGA databases. The potential correlations of Rap1b with immune infiltration were revealed via TIMER and TCGA database. SangerBox database was used to analyzed the correlations between Rap1b expression and immune checkpoint (ICP), tumor mutational burden (TMB), microsatellite instability (MSI), mismatch repairs (MMRs) and DNA methylation. The results indicated that the expression level of Rap1b varies in different tumors. Meanwhile, the expression level of Rap1b strongly correlated with prognosis in patients with tumors, higher expression of Rap1b usually was linked to poor prognosis in different datasets. Rap1b was correlated closely with tumor immunity and interacted with various immune cells in different types of cancers. In addition, there were significant positive correlations between Rap1b expression and ICP, TMB, MSI, MMRs and DNA methylation. In conclusion, the results of pan-cancer analysis showed that the abnormal Rap1b expression was related to poor prognosis and tumor immune infiltration in different cancers. Furthermore, Rap1b gene may be used as a potential biomarker of clinical tumor prognosis.
