The application of behavioral science theory is instrumental in advancing nursing research and practice. Nurses can benefit from a thorough understanding of theoretical perspectives related to health behavior change. Behavioral science theory can provide a conceptual context for understanding patient behavior, it can guide research on the determinants of health behavior and health service delivery, and it can offer alternative approaches to nursing practice that may improve the effectiveness of patient care. The aim of this paper is to provide some examples of behavioral theories that can be used in nursing research and practice, and provide an example of how one theory, Stages of Change (Transtheoretical Model), can be applied to older adult fall prevention. Given the critical role behavior plays in premature morbidity and mortality, public health nurses and researchers can benefit by broadening the use of theory in the design and implementation of interventions, using behavioral theory as their guide.Exciplex-forming hosts with thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) provide a viable opportunity to unlock the full potential of the yet-to-be improved power efficiencies (PEs) and stabilities of all-fluorescent white organic light-emitting diodes (WOLEDs), but this, however, is hindered by the lack of stable blue exciplexes. Here, an advanced exciplex system is proposed by incorporating bipolar charge-transport π-spacers into both the electron-donor (D) and the electron-accepter (A) to increase their distance for hypsochromic-shifted emission while maintaining the superior transporting ability. By using spirofluorene as the π-spacer, 3,3'-bicarbazole as the D-unit, and 2,4,6-triphenyl-1,3,5-triazine as the A-unit, a π-D and π-A exciplex with sky-blue emission and fast reverse intersystem crossing process is thereof constructed. Combining this exciplex-forming host, a blue TADF-sensitizer, and a yellow conventional fluorescent dopant in a single-emissive-layer, the fabricated warm-white-emissive device simultaneously exhibits a low driving voltage of 3.08 V, an external quantum efficiency of 21.4%, and a remarkable T80 (time to 80% of the initial luminance) of >8200 h at 1000 cd m-2 , accompanied by a new benchmark PE of 69.6 lm W-1 among all-fluorescent WOLEDs.Investigating instances where lexical selection fails can lead to deeper insights into the cognitive machinery and architecture supporting successful word retrieval and speech production. In this paper, we used a multiplex lexical network approach that combines semantic and phonological similarities among words to model the structure of the mental lexicon. Network measures at different levels of analysis (degree, network distance, and closeness centrality) were used to investigate the influence of network structure on picture naming accuracy and errors by people with Anomic, Broca's, Conduction, and Wernicke's aphasia. selleck Our results reveal that word retrieval is influenced by the multiplex lexical network structure in at least two ways-(a) the accuracy of production and error type on incorrect productions were influenced by the degree and closeness centrality of the target word, and (b) error type also varied in terms of network distance between the target word and produced error word. Taken together, the analyses demonstrate that network science techniques, particularly the use of the multiplex lexical network to simultaneously represent semantic and phonological relationships among words, reveal how the structure of the mental lexicon influences language processes beyond traditionally examined psycholinguistic variables. We propose a framework for how the multiplex lexical network approach allows for understanding the influence of mental lexicon structure on word retrieval processes, with an eye toward a better understanding of the nature of clinical impairments, like aphasia. The first example of highly enantioselective fluoroarylation of gem-difluoroalkenes with aryl halides is presented by using a new chiral sulfinamide phosphine (Sadphos) type ligand TY-Phos. N-Me-TY-Phos can be easily synthesized on a gram scale from readily available starting materials in three steps. Salient features of this work including readily available starting materials, good yields, high enantioselectivities as well as broad substrate scope make this approach very practical and attractive. Notably, the asymmetric synthesis of an analogue of a biologically active molecule is also reported.Although quantitative MRI can be instrumental in the diagnosis and assessment of disease progression in orbital diseases involving the extra-ocular muscles (EOM), acquisition can be challenging as EOM are small and prone to eye-motion artefacts. We explored the feasibility of assessing fat fractions (FF), muscle volumes and water T2 (T2water ) of EOM in healthy controls (HC), myasthenia gravis (MG) and Graves' orbitopathy (GO) patients. FF, EOM volumes and T2water values were determined in 12 HC (aged 22-65 years), 11 MG (aged 28-71 years) and six GO (aged 28-64 years) patients at 7 T using Dixon and multi-echo spin-echo sequences. The EOM were semi-automatically 3D-segmented by two independent observers. MANOVA and t-tests were used to assess differences in FF, T2water and volume of EOM between groups (P less then .05). Bland-Altman limits of agreement (LoA) were used to assess the reproducibility of segmentations and Dixon scans. The scans were well tolerated by all subjects. The bias in FF between the repeated Dixon scans was -0.7% (LoA ±2.1%) for the different observers; the bias in FF was -0.3% (LoA ±2.8%) and 0.03 cm3 (LoA ± 0.36 cm3 ) for volume. Mean FF of EOM in MG (14.1% ± 1.6%) was higher than in HC (10.4% ± 2.5%). Mean muscle volume was higher in both GO (1.2 ± 0.4 cm3 ) and MG (0.8 ± 0.2 cm3 ) compared with HC (0.6 ± 0.2 cm3 ). The average T2water for all EOM was 24.6 ± 4.0 ms for HC, 24.0 ± 4.7 ms for MG patients and 27.4 ± 4.2 ms for the GO patient. Quantitative MRI at 7 T is feasible for measuring FF and muscle volumes of EOM in HC, MG and GO patients. The measured T2water was on average comparable with skeletal muscle, although with higher variation between subjects. The increased FF in the EOM in MG patients suggests that EOM involvement in MG is accompanied by fat replacement. The unexpected EOM volume increase in MG may provide novel insights into underlying pathophysiological processes.
