Our study confirms that ASCA IgA are elevated in SpA patients. Although there was no evidence of association with a particular disease phenotype, the existence of higher ASCA levels sustains a close relationship between gut and SpA.COVID-19 is a newly emerged disease that has become a global public health challenge. Due to a lack of knowledge about the virus, a significant number of potential targets for using a particular drug have been proposed. Five cases with a clinical history of biopolymers in the gluteal region that developed iatrogenic allogenosis (IA) are presented here. The 5 cases were put under colchicine treatment for IA crisis and had non-specific symptoms (headache, cough without dyspnea, and arthralgias) with a positive SARS-CoV-2 test. Their close contacts had mild to severe symptoms and three of them died. In the SARS-CoV-2 infection different inflammatory pathways are altered where colchicine reduces cytokine levels as well as the activation of macrophages, neutrophils, and the inflammasome. The possible mechanisms that colchicine may use to prevent acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) in patients with COVID-19 infection are also reviewed in this article.
Apical hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (AHCM) is a rare cardiomyopathy, in which hypertrophy occurs predominantly in the ventricular apex, and in some cases with a high risk of sudden cardiac death.
The aim of this paper is to present a case series of patients with AHCM and describe their main clinical, echocardiographic and electrocardiographic characteristics, the recommendation for an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) and the frequency of sudden cardiac death (SCD).
A retrospective case series was conducted at the referral center of a federal teaching hospital, between the years 2005 to 2020, involving patients with an echocardiographic diagnosis of AHCM. The parameters of the American College of Cardiology and the European Society of Cardiology were used to assess the risk of SCD.
A total of 11 individuals were assessed with a mean age of 55.3 years, mean follow-up of 41.2 months, most of whom were symptomatic at diagnosis (72.7%). The most frequent symptom was dyspnea (27.3%). A family history of SCD was described in 45.5% of cases. Due to a high risk of SCD, four patients received ICDs. One patient presented sudden cardiac death after having refused the ICD.
Symptoms and alterations in the imaging exams are significant factors in the clinical and prognostic assessment of patients with AHCM.

The response of the nuclear medicine community to the challenges imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic can be described in 3 phases accommodation, consolidation and optimization, and a return towards normalcy. Adoption of virtual communication platforms has emerged as the crucial interim tool for preservation of trainee supervision and diagnostic imaging education. Development of supplemental teaching materials, refocusing research interests, and relaxation of requirements have all contributed toward stabilization of the residency programs. As we embark on a gradual return to normalcy, many of the virtual solutions that were employed have gained a degree of enduring popularity and may find a place in the postpandemic period.
Ankyloglossia is characterized by an abnormally short lingual frenulum, which impairs tongue movement. Ankyloglossia has been related to craniofacial growth disturbances and dental malocclusion. But even though there is a clear biological plausibility for this hypothesis, available evidence is scarce.
A case-control design was followed. Patients between 4 and 14 years old were routinely screened for short lingual frenulum and recruited from the pediatric Otolaryngology consultation of 3 Spanish tertiary referral hospitals. Lingual frenulum was assessed with the Marchesan system. A cohort of cases with short lingual frenulum and a cohort of healthy controls matched for sex and age were included. Both cases and controls had pictures of occlusion. Occlusion was evaluated by an expert in orthodontics, blinded for the frenulum assessment.
A total of 100 participants were included, 70 males and 30 females. The proportion of malocclusion in the short lingual frenulum group was 48%, while it was 24% in the normal frenulum group. The odds ratio of malocclusion for the short lingual frenulum patients was 2.92 (CI 95% 1.15-7.56). The difference was statistically significant (p=.012). This difference was significant for patients with class III occlusion (p=.029). There was no difference for patients with class II (p=.317).
This work supports the hypothesis that relates class III malocclusion with a short lingual frenulum.

The most common cause of deep neck infections is dental infection. They are diagnosed with physical examination, imaging studies, ultrasound, or computed tomography. Surgical drainage of collections should always be performed early in a classical or percutaneous way, depending on the case. The aim of the study was to compare ultrasound-guided percutaneous drainage techniques vs. surgical drainage in deep cervical abscesses of odontogenic origin in a controlled and randomized trial.
A randomized controlled clinical trial was performed from January 2015 to December 2019. Hospital stay was evaluated as an efficiency variable. Epidemiological and secondary variable data (tumour, trismus, fever, pain), leukocytosis, cosmetic result comparing both techniques were analysed. Statistical analysis was carried out with STATA v 14.0.
128 patients were analysed, 51 women and 77 men. learn more Average age 27.3 (SD = 10.13). The percutaneous group had a mean hospital stay of 3.03 (SD = 2.86) days and the surgical group 5.46 (SD = 2.96). The p-value was <.001. Cosmetic results showed differences favouring the percutaneous drainage group. None of the other variables showed statistically significant results.
Surgical treatment (cervicotomy and debridement) should be undertaken early with evidence of extensive collection in deep spaces. Minimally invasive image-guided procedures are an alternative. These can be performed in well-located, unilocular collections, without compromising of the patient's airway. Percutaneous drainage and suction techniques if necessary, serially, or drainage placement may be performed.
Ultrasound-guided and serially guided percutaneous drainage is the best therapeutic option in patients with mild and/or moderate dental infections.
