This highlights the higher reactivity of the K system. With KFSI, the reactivity was driven by the FSI- anion degradation, leading to an inorganic-rich SEI. These results thus explain the better electrochemical performance often reported in half-cells with KFSI compared to that with KPF6. Finally, the understanding of these chemically driven electrolyte degradation mechanisms should help researchers to design robust carbonate-based electrolyte formulations for KIBs.Discharging of aprotic sodium-oxygen (Na-O2) batteries is driven by the cathodic oxygen reduction reaction in the presence of sodium cations (Na+-ORR). However, the mechanism of aprotic Na+-ORR remains ambiguous and is system dependent. In-situ electrochemical Raman spectroscopy has been employed to study the aprotic Na+-ORR processes at three atomically ordered Au(hkl) single-crystal surfaces for the first time, and the structure-intermediates/mechanism relationship has been identified at a molecular level. Direct spectroscopic evidence of superoxide on Au(110) and peroxide on Au(100) and Au(111) as intermediates/products has been obtained. Combining these experimental results with theoretical simulation has revealed that the surface effect of Au(hkl) electrodes on aprotic Na+-ORR activity is mainly caused by the different adsorption of Na+ and O2. This work enhances our understanding of aprotic Na+-ORR on Au(hkl) surfaces and provides further guidance for the design of improved Na-O2 batteries.Although pyroelectric photodetectors have been intensively studied, the transient temperature change rate of pyroelectric materials is a main restrictive factor for improving the performance. In this work, we fabricate an ultrafast response self-powered near-infrared (NIR) photodetector (PD) based on Au nanoparticles (NPs) coated an n-ZnO nanowires (NWs)/p-Si heterojunction. The local surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) effect generated at the local contacts of Au NPs/ZnO NWs can significantly enhance the transient temperature change rate of the ZnO material to improve the photoresponse performances of the NIR PD. Compared with that in the pristine ZnO-based PD, the response time of the Au-coated NIR PD is decreased from 113 to 50 μs at the rising edge and 200 to 70 μs at the falling edge. Optical responsivity and detectivity of the Au-coated ZnO-based PD are increased by 212 and 266%, respectively. The pyroelectric current gain is produced by injecting hot electrons from the LSPR effect of Au NPs into the ZnO material and the thermal energy transfer caused by the photothermal effect of plasmonic Au nanostructure. This work provides an in-depth understanding of plasmonic effect-enhanced pyroelectric effect and presents a unique strategy for developing high-performance NIR photodetectors.New membrane materials with excellent water permeability and high ion rejection are needed. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are promising candidates by virtue of their diversity in chemistry and topology. In this work, continuous aluminum MOF-303 membranes were prepared on α-Al2O3 substrates via an in situ hydrothermal synthesis method. The membranes exhibit satisfying rejection of divalent ions (e.g., 93.5% for MgCl2 and 96.0% for Na2SO4) on the basis of a size-sieving and electrostatic-repulsion mechanism and unprecedented permeability (3.0 L·m-2·h-1·bar-1·μm). The water permeability outperforms typical zirconium MOF, zeolite, and commercial polymeric reverse osmosis and nanofiltration membranes. Additionally, the membrane material exhibits good stability and low production costs. These merits recommend MOF-303 as a next-generation membrane material for water softening.Mitochondrial dysfunction has been indicated in neurodegenerative and other disorders. The mitochondrial complex I (MC-I) of the electron transport chain (ETC) on the inner membrane is the electron entry point of the ETC and is essential for the production of reactive oxygen species. Based on a recently identified β-keto-amide type MC-I modulator from our laboratory, an 18F-labeled positron emission tomography (PET) tracer, 18F-2, was prepared. PET/CT imaging studies demonstrated that 18F-2 exhibited rapid brain uptake without significant wash out during the 60 min scanning time. In addition, the binding of 18F-2 was higher in the regions of the brain stem, cerebellum, and midbrain. The uptake of 18F-2 can be significantly blocked by its parent compound. Collectively, the results strongly suggest successful development of MC-I PET tracers from this chemical scaffold that can be used in future mitochondrial dysfunction studies of the central nervous system. The integration of microfluidics and electrochemical cells is at the forefront of emerging sensors and energy systems; however, a fabrication scheme that can create both the microfluidics and electrochemical cells in a scalable fashion is still lacking. We present a one-step, mask-free process to create, pattern, and tune laser-induced graphene (LIG) with a ubiquitous CO2 laser. The laser parameters are adjusted to create LIG with different electrical conductivity, surface morphology, and surface wettability without the need for postchemical modification. Such definitive control over material properties enables the creation of LIG-based integrated open microfluidics and electrochemical sensors that are capable of dividing a single water sample along four multifurcating paths to three ion selective electrodes (ISEs) for potassium (K+), nitrate (NO3-), and ammonium (NH4+) monitoring and to an enzymatic pesticide sensor for organophosphate pesticide (parathion) monitoring. The ISEs displayed near-Nernstian sensitivities and low limits of detection (LODs) (10-5.01 M, 10-5.07 M, and 10-4.89 M for the K+, NO3-, and NH4+ ISEs, respectively) while the pesticide sensor exhibited the lowest LOD (15.4 pM) for an electrochemical parathion sensor to date. LIG was also specifically patterned and tuned to create a high-performance electrochemical micro supercapacitor (MSC) capable of improving the power density by 2 orders of magnitude compared to a Li-based thin-film battery and the energy density by 3 orders of magnitude compared to a commercial electrolytic capacitor. Hence, this tunable fabrication approach to LIG is expected to enable a wide range of real-time, point-of-use health and environmental sensors as well as energy storage/harvesting modules. The dramatic growth of the sodium-ion battery market evokes a high demand for high-performance cathodes. In this work, a nanosized amorphous FePO4@rGO composite is developed using coprecipitation combined with low-temperature hydrothermal synthesis, which registered a surface area of 179.43 m2 g-1. The composites maintain three-dimensional mesoporous morphology with a pore size in the range of 3-4 nm. Uniform distribution of amorphous FePO4 allows a reversible capacity of 175.4 mA h g-1 at 50 mA g-1 while maintaining a stable cycle life of 500 cycles at 200 mA g-1. The amorphous FePO4@rGO, obtained by energy-efficient synthesis, significantly improved the rate performance compared to the crystalline material prepared at high temperatures. Cyclic voltammetry tests reveal that the fast reaction kinetics can be attributed to the pseudocapacitive behavior of the electrode. In addition, we demonstrated the promise of FePO4@rGO cathodes for low-temperature sodium-ion batteries.Precisely tuning emission spectra through the component control of mixed halides has been proved to be an efficient method for procuring deep-blue perovskite LEDs (PeLEDs). However, the inferior color instability and lifetime attenuation, originated from vacancy- and trap-mediated mechanisms under an external field, remain an uninterruptedly formidable challenge for the commercial development of PeLEDs. Here, an ultrafast thermodynamics-induced injection enhancement strategy was employed to promote efficient carrier recombination within perovskite quantum dots (QDs), accompanied by less inefficient charge accumulation and trap generation, enabling deep-blue PeLEDs with improved thermal and spectral stability. The resultant PeLEDs feature an external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 3.66%, a max luminance of 2100 cd/m2 at the electroluminescence (EL) of 460 nm, and a halftime of 288 s. This work provides a general platform for promoting the EL performances and a deep insight into unraveling the degradation mechanism of blue PeLEDs.Ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) absorption spectra are routinely collected as part of high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis systems and can be used to identify chemical reaction products by comparison to the reference spectra. Here, we present UV-adVISor as a new computational tool for predicting the UV-Vis spectra from a molecule's structure alone. UV-Vis prediction was approached as a sequence-to-sequence problem. We utilized Long-Short Term Memory and attention-based neural networks with Extended Connectivity Fingerprint Diameter 6 or molecule SMILES to generate predictive models for the UV spectra. We have produced two spectrum datasets (dataset I, N = 949, and dataset II, N = 2222) using different compound collections and spectrum acquisition methods to train, validate, and test our models. We evaluated the prediction accuracy of the complete spectra by the correspondence of wavelengths of absorbance maxima and with a series of statistical measures (the best test set median model parameters are in parentheses for model II), including RMSE (0.064), R2 (0.71), and dynamic time warping (DTW, 0.194) of the entire spectrum curve. Scrambling molecule structures with the experimental spectra during training resulted in a degraded R2, confirming the utility of the approaches for prediction. UV-adVISor is able to provide fast and accurate predictions for libraries of compounds.

To analyze the results of the preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidy at the Instituto de Fertilidad Humana - Inser Bogotá, Colombia, from 2016 to 2020.

This study is an observational, retrospective, and correlative analysis of biopsies from 319 embryos (from 54 patients) submitted to preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidy by different molecular techniques.

Of the 54 patients included in the study, 42 provided their own oocytes, and 12 used donated oocytes. check details The main indication to perform the preimplantation genetic testing was advanced maternal age. We obtained 319 embryos Ninety-one (28.5%) euploid, 197 (61.8%) aneuploid and 31 (9.7%) with no detectable DNA. The highest rate of aneuploid embryos was found in patients over 40 years (72.7%), and the euploidy rate in patients under 35 years was 37.1%. After the transfer of euploid embryos, the rates for implantation, ongoing pregnancy, live birth, and miscarriage were 40%, 50%, 40.6%, and 0%, respectively. Older maternal age correlated with higher numbers of aneuploid embryos and lower numbers of both euploid and 5-day embryos.

There was a positive correlation between maternal age and aneuploidy rate. Complex chromosomal abnormalities were the most frequent aneuploidies, followed by mosaicism and double aneuploidies. The miscarriage rate after the transfer of euploid embryos was 0 %.
