To establish reference ranges of fetal facial profile markers and study their correlations with crown-rump length (CRL) during the first trimester (11 ~ 13

weeks' gestation) in a Chinese population.

Ultrasonographic images of measuring fetal nuchal translucency (NT) were retrospectively selected randomly in normal fetuses whose parents were both Chinese. The facial markers included inferior facial angle (IFA), maxilla-nasion-mandible (MNM) angle, facial maxillary angle (FMA) and profile line (PL) distance. These markers were measured through ViewPoint 6 software by two experienced sonographers.

Three hundred and eighty fetuses were selected. The ICCs (95 % CI) of intra-operator 1 reproducibility of IFA, MNM angle, FMA, PL distance were 0.944 (0.886 ~ 0.973), 0.804 (0.629 ~ 0.902), 0.834 (0.68 ~ 0.918) and 0.935 (0.868 ~ 0.969), respectively. Since 2014, over 1.6 million people have been forcibly displaced by the conflict in eastern Ukraine. In 2014, 8% of reproductive-aged women in Ukraine had ever experienced sexual violence, compared to 5% in 2007. This increase was driven by non-domestic sexual violence. Our study examined characteristics of women in eastern Ukraine receiving psychosocial services following sexual violence compared to survivors of other forms of gender-based violence.

We aimed to compare the outcomes of trabeculectomy combined with phacoemulsification and those of trabeculectomy followed by phacoemulsification.

A total of 141 patients with primary open-angle glaucoma, exfoliation glaucoma, and glaucoma secondary to uveitis glaucoma who underwent trabeculectomy followed by (n = 48) or combined with (n = 93) phacoemulsification were included. We analyzed data collected from the Collaborative Bleb-Related Infection Incidence and Treatment Study, a prospective cohort study conducted in 34 clinical centers that included 1249 eyes. The main outcome was the cumulative probability of success based on intraocular pressure (IOP) within 5 years. Surgical failure was defined as a case in which additional glaucoma surgery is required or one of the following criteria are met preoperative IOP > 21 (A), > 18 (B), or > 15 mmHg (C). The secondary outcomes were cumulative probability of success, risk factors of surgical failure, and Δ visual acuity. However, the data on phacoemution with trabeculectomy disappeared within 5 years.

For this pilot, we developed a pipeline that uses NLP on biological literature to produce knowledge networks. We focused on the flesh color of potato, a well-studied trait with known associations, and we investigated whether these knowledge networks can assist us in formulating new hypotheses on the underlying biological processes.

The Framingham hypertension risk score is a well-known and simple model for predicting hypertension in adults. In the current study, we aimed to assess the predictive ability of this model in a Middle Eastern population.

We studied 5423 participants, aged 20-69 years, without hypertension, who participated in two consecutive examination cycles of the Tehran Lipid and Glucose Study (TLGS). We assessed discrimination based on Harrell's concordance statistic (c-index) and calibration (graphical comparison of predicted vs. observed). We evaluated the original, recalibrated (for intercept and slope), and revised (for beta coefficients) models.

Over the 3-year follow-up period, 319 participants developed hypertension. The Framingham hypertension risk score performed well in discriminating between individuals who developed hypertension and those who did not (c-index = 0.81, 95% CI 0.79-0.83). Initially, there was a systematic underestimation of the original risk score (events predicted), which was readily corrected by a simple model revision.

Left ventricular geometry and left atrium (LA) enlargement are risk factors for cardiovascular disease. However, reports on the relationship between left ventricular geometry and LA volume yielded contradictory findings, and LA phasic function remains unclear. Hence, this study aimed to investigate the influence of left ventricular geometry on LA volume and phasic function in patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) via a multimodal echocardiographic approach.

In this cross-sectional study, 221 patients with OSAS (age 20-68years, mean age 45.27 ± 12.50years) underwent clinical evaluation, polysomnography, and multimodal echocardiographic examination with two-dimensional echocardiography (2DE), two-dimensional speckle-tracking echocardiography (2D-STE) and three-dimensional echocardiography (3DE). Sleep problems in preschool children can stunt their health and growth. However, the factors that cause sleep problems in children are not well understood. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between parents' health literacy (HL) and children's sleep problems. The study was conducted at two kindergartens, two nursery schools, and a center for early childhood education in Chitose-city, Hokkaido, Japan.

This study used a multicenter cross-sectional design. The sample comprised 354 preschoolers (aged 3-6 years) and their parents. In families with two or more children attending the same facility, only the oldest child was asked to participate in the study. Exclusion criteria included participants whose completed questionnaires had missing values. Children's sleep problems were assessed using the Japanese version of the Children's Sleep Habits Questionnaire (CSHQ-J). Parents' HL was assessed using the 14-item Health Literacy Scale (HLS-14). The parents were classified into two groups (high HL group and low HL group).
