With development and the reorganization of the CC region, they progressively become more distant from the CC, suggesting some migratory capabilities. These neurons share functional and phenotypical properties with CSF-cNs but appear subdivided in two groups. One group, present along the midline, has a bipolar morphology and extends a long dendrite along ependymal fibers and towards the CC. The second group, localized in more ventro-lateral regions, has a multipolar morphology and no apparent projection to the CC. Altogether, we describe a novel population of PKD2L1+ neurons distant from the CC but with properties similar to CSF-cNs that might serve to sense modification in the composition of either CSF or interstitial liquid, a function that will need to be confirmed.

The acute effects of alcohol consumption are a major risk factor for suicide. Positive blood alcohol concentrations are present in almost one-third of all suicides at time of death. These suicides are defined as alcohol-related suicides. This cross-sectional study examines the geospatial distribution/clustering of high proportions of alcohol-related suicides and reports on socioeconomic and demographic risk factors.

National Coronial Information System (NCIS) data were used to calculate proportions of suicides with alcohol present at the time of death for each level 3 statistical areas (SA3) in Australia. A density analysis and hotspot cluster analysis were used to visualise and establish statistically significant clustering of areas with higher (hotspots) and lower (coldspots) proportions. Subsequently, socioeconomic and demographic risk factors for alcohol use and suicide were reported on for hot and cold spots.

Significant clustering of areas with higher proportions of alcohol-related suicide occurredentify areas in which prevention strategies should target alcohol use and can be used to inform prevention strategy design. Additionally, hotspots and coldspots identified in this study can be used for further analysis to better understand contextual risk factors for alcohol-related suicide.

Heterotaxy or isomerism of the atrial appendages, is defined as an abnormal arrangement of inner organs across the left-right axis of the heart. Left-atrial isomerism (LAI) is frequently associated with fetal arrhythmia and two-ventricle congenital heart disease (CHD), whereas right-atrial isomerism (RAI) is typically associated with more complex CHD. Both LAI and RAI can exhibit various non-cardiac anomalies with serious impact on fetal outcome. The aim of this exploratory study was to describe the morphologic spectrum encountered in heterotaxy by combining prenatal ultrasound (US), fetal echocardiography (FE) with fetal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

This retrospective study included 27 fetuses who underwent a fetal MRI following the prenatal suspicion of heterotaxy on US from 1998 to 2019 in a tertiary referral center. Type of heterotaxy was defined by FE. In addition to routine prenatal US a fetal MRI was offered routinely to enhance the diagnosis of non-cardiac anomalies which might have been missed on US.
