Tumor vasculature is structurally abnormal, with anatomical deformities, reduced pericyte coverage and low tissue perfusion. As a result of this vascular dysfunction, tumors are often hypoxic, which is associated with an aggressive tumor phenotype, and reduced delivery of therapeutic compounds to the tumor. We have previously shown that a peptide containing the thrombospondin-1 type I repeats (3TSR) specifically targets tumor vessels and induces vascular normalization in a mouse model of epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC). However, due to its small size, 3TSR is rapidly cleared from circulation. We now introduce a novel construct with the 3TSR peptide fused to the C-terminus of each of the two heavy chains of the Fc region of human IgG1 (Fc3TSR). We hypothesize that Fc3TSR will have greater anti-tumor activity in vitro and in vivo compared to the native compound.
Fc3TSR was evaluated in vitro using proliferation and apoptosis assays to investigate differences in efficacy compared to native 3TSR. In light of itates its translational potential as a therapy in the treatment of metastatic advanced stage ovarian cancer.

This study aimed to evaluate the most updated worldwide distribution, risk factors, and temporal trends of cervical cancer for different countries and age groups.
The Global Cancer Observatory database was retrieved for the age-standardized rates (ASRs, per 100,000 persons) for incidence and mortality of cervical cancer in 2018. The associations with risk factors were examined by multivariable regression analysis, adjusting for human development index (HDI) and gross domestic products (GDP) per capita. Joinpoint regression analysis was used to calculate the 10-year annual average percent change (AAPC) for incidence and mortality.
A total of 568,847 new cases (ASR, 13.1) and 311,365 deaths (ASR, 6.9) of cervical cancer were reported globally in 2018. The highest incidence and mortality were observed in Southern Africa (ASRs, 43.1 and 20.0) and countries with low HDI (ASRs, 29.8 and 23.0). Countries with higher incidence and mortality had lower HDI (β=-8.19, 95% CI -11.32 to -5.06, p<0.001; β=-7.66, CIions.
Feminization of medicine is a worldwide phenomenon. Countries must consider feminization of medical specializations in the planning of health public politics.

We analyzed the electronic repositories of students and hired physicians at IMSS from 2006-2020.
42,647 specialists graduated in the period. The percentage of women increased 3% in medical specializations and 9% in surgical ones. Women significatively predominate in first entry and controllable lifestyle specialization. The percentage of hired women physicians increased 14 and 17% in leadership positions.

The advent of optogenetic methods in neuroscience offers previously unachievable insight into the mechanisms transforming brain activity into behaviour. With a view to aiding the design and interpretation of future studies in and outside AC, here we discuss the methodological challenges faced in manipulating neural activity. While considering AC's role in auditory behaviour through the prism of inactivation experiments, we consider the factors that confound the interpretation of the effects of inactivation on behaviour, including the species, the type of inactivation, the behavioural task employed, and the exact location of the inactivation.This study evaluated the feasibility of fabricating food-grade HIPEs using a dihydromyricetin and lysozyme mixture. The effects of the oil phase volume fraction (φ), composition (lysozymedihydromyricetin, k), and addition amount (w) of the mixture on the formation and properties of the HIPEs were analyzed. Then, the interactions of dihydromyricetin and lysozyme were investigated. The results indicated that when w was 0.4%, HIPEs with φ value of 90% could be obtained. Furthermore, the k also affected the microstructure, mechanical properties, oil oxidation, and lutein protection ability of the HIPEs. However, the presence of dihydromyricetin did not affect lysozyme activity. Both isothermal titration calorimetry and molecular simulations proved that they did not form a typical host-guest complex. But, dihydromyricetin could absorb on the lysozyme surface. Therefore, we speculated that lysozyme and dihydromyricetin particles could overlap and form a 3D network structure to stabilize the HIPEs, which was consistent with the microstructure observations.This study demonstrated the combination of black pepper and a canola oil-based emulsion synergistically enhanced carotenoid bioavailability of raw vegetables in humans. In a randomized crossover design, healthy young adults consumed (1) vegetable salad (control), (2) salad with canola oil emulsion (COE), (3) salad with black pepper (BP), and (4) salad with canola oil emulsion and black pepper (COE + BP). COE + BP led to a higher AUC0-10h of total plasma carotenoids (p less then 0.0005) than the control (6.1-fold), BP (2.1-fold), and COE (3.0-fold). COE + BP increased AUC0-10h of plasma lutein, α-carotene, β-carotene, and lycopene by 4.8, 9.7, 7.6, and 5.5-fold than the control, respectively (p less then 0.0001). COE + BP produced a significant synergy in increasing both Cmax and AUC0-10h of total carotenoids, α-carotene, β-carotene, and lycopene. Moreover, COE + BP produced a stronger enhancement on AUC0-10h of total carotenoids, α-carotene, β-carotene, and lycopene in females than in males.Soybean proteins are the main component of plant-based meat alternatives in the Chinese market. The effects of non-covalent interactions between polyphenols and proteins on the protein structures, the rest physicochemical properties, and formations of heterocyclic amines (HAs) were examined using a polyphenols-containing soybean protein isolate (SPI) complex as a model to dry heating at 170℃ for 10 min. The results showed that tetrahydro-curcumin had extensive inhibitory effects on the HA formation. In addition, tea polyphenols, grapeseed procyanidins, and dihydromyricetin were also found to have inhibitory effects only on some HAs. Correlation analysis showed that polyphenols altered the secondary structure and steric structure of the protein by interacting with the protein, which affects the HA formation. The results provided theoretical references and a basis for the formation mechanisms of HAs in polyphenol-inhibiting protein foods.This study reports a facile sonohydrolysis synthesis route to prepare the iron antimony oxide (FeSbO4) nanoparticles for the trace level electrochemical sensing of fungicide carbendazim (CRBZ). As prepared FeSbO4 nanoparticles show a nano-cubes-like morphology with uniform distributions that crystallized in the tetragonal phase. The diffraction studies reveal that the FeSbO4 nanoparticles have high crystallinity and high purity. Furthermore, the other structural properties and morphology are characterized by XRD, Raman, XPS, HRTEM, and FESEM analysis. The electrochemical characterizations of FeSbO4 modified GCE towards the detection of CRBZ are performed by cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry techniques. The FeSbO4/GCE exhibits a linear range from 0.01 µmol L-1 to 64.3 µmol L-1, the sensitivity of 0.68 µA cm-2 µM-1, and the LOD of 5.4 nmol L-1. Moreover, the FeSbO4/GCE delivered high selectivity among the possibly interfering compounds. Also, our projected FeSbO4/GCE electrode material shows good recoveries in apple juice and paddy water real samples.The influence of total concentration, biopolymer mixing ratio, and ionic strength on the association of tragacanth gum (TG) and gelatin (G) in the aqueous system during acidification was investigated. The onset of soluble complex formation appeared at pHc, where both biopolymers carried a negative charge. Insoluble complexes were formed at pHφ1 by a further pH decrease, owing to increased interactions between the polymers. The complexes formed at pHφ1 still had partly high negative surface charge. Complex coacervation was observed at pHopt due to the growing size and number of insoluble complexes. The ζ value of the G- TG significantly decreased at pHopt, which was subjected to phase separation. Turbidity decreased at pHφ2 as a result of complex decomposition. The maximum efficiency of complex formation was at the salt-free samples. NaCl reduced critical pHs and complex formation efficiency by screening the ionized groups on the biopolymers.The study of volatile compounds obtained by gas chromatography (GC) coupled to mass spectrometry (MS) or ion mobility spectrometry (IMS) may be very useful to protect food quality, especially when using a non-destructive sampling method. In this work, the authentication of the highly appreciated dry-cured Iberian ham by those techniques was studied and compared. The results obtained show the suitability of a non-destructive sampling method coupled to headspace sampling (HS)-GC-IMS or HS-GC-MS to determine volatile markers in the feeding Iberian pig regime. Although both methods were suitable to differentiate the ham categories, HS-GC-IMS was more sensitive detecting a higher number of compounds than HS-GC-MS, which provided accurate qualitative results. The results of principal component analysis showed that ethanol, 2-propanol and 3-methylbutanol, identified by HS-GC-IMS, and 3-methylbutanal and heptane, identified by HS-GC-MS, could be considered potential markers to identify ham from different feeding regimes.The sensory qualities, aroma profile, and microstructural features of instant Pu-erh teas (IPTs) produced by electrostatic spray drying (ESD) were evaluated by sensory and instrumental analyses and compared with those produced by other drying methods (freeze-drying [FD], vacuum drying [VD], and conventional spray drying [CSD]). The sensory qualities of ESDIPT were similar to those of FDIPT, and better than those of VDIPT and CSDIPT. Eighty-eight volatiles were detected in all IPTs, and 45 odor-active compounds were captured. Most of their OAVs were higher in ESDIPT than in VDIPT and CSDIPT but were lower than those in FDIPT. Dihydro-β-ionone had the highest OAV. Aroma recombination experiments were performed to verify the identification results. ESDIPT was present in the shape of microspheres with many regular concave surfaces, which was different from those treated by other drying methods. In terms of sensory quality and productivity, ESD would be a potential method for IPT production.
