Finally, the results obtained can be used for the design and development of new 3D-printed composite structures.Palms (Arecaceae) are substrates for a highly diverse range of fungi. Many species are known as saprobes and many are important plant pathogens. Over the course of our studies of micro-fungi from palms in Thailand, two new taxa were discovered. Morphological characteristics and phylogenetic analyses of combined ITS, LSU, SSU, and tef1-α sequence data revealed their taxonomic positions within Massarinaceae. There are currently ten genera identified and accepted in Massarinaceae, with the addition of the two new genera of Haplohelminthosporium and Helminthosporiella, that are introduced in this paper. Each new genus is provided with a full description and notes, and each new taxon is provided with an illustration for the holotype. A list of identified and accepted species of Helminthosporium with morphology, host information, locality, sequence data, and related references of Helminthosporium reported worldwide is provided based on records in Species Fungorum 2021. This work provides a micro-fungi database of Haplohelminthosporium, Helminthosporiella, and Helminthosporium which can be modified and validated as new data come to light.Alzheimer's disease (AD) affects tens of millions of people worldwide. Despite the advances in understanding the disease, there is an increased urgency for pharmacological approaches able of impacting its onset and progression. With a multifactorial nature, high incidence and prevalence in later years of life, there is growing evidence highlighting a relationship between metabolic dysfunction related to diabetes and subject's susceptibility to develop AD. The link seems so solid that sometimes AD and type 3 diabetes are used interchangeably. A candidate for a shared pathogenic mechanism linking these conditions is chronically-activated mechanistic target of rapamycin (mTOR). Chronic activation of unrestrained mTOR could be responsible for sustaining metabolic dysfunction that causes the breakdown of the blood-brain barrier, tau hyperphosphorylation and senile plaques formation in AD. It has been suggested that inhibition of sodium glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) mediated by constant glucose loss, may restore mTOR cycle via nutrient-driven, preventing or even decreasing the AD progression. Currently, there is an unmet need for further research insight into molecular mechanisms that drive the onset and AD advancement as well as an increase in efforts to expand the testing of potential therapeutic strategies aimed to counteract disease progression in order to structure effective therapies.Health promotion empowers people, communities, and societies to take charge of their own health and quality of life. To strengthen community-based support, increase resource accessibility, and achieve the ideal of aging, this study targets the question of maximum equity with minimum values, taking distances and spatial and non-spatial factors into consideration. To compare disparities in the accessibility of community care resources and the optimization of allocation, methods for community care resource capacity were examined. This study also investigates units based on basic statistical area (BSA) to improve the limitation of larger reference locations (administrative districts) that cannot reflect the exact locations of people. The results show the capacity redistribution of each service point within the same total capacity, and the proposed method brings the population distribution of each demand to the best accessibility. Finally, the grading system of assessing accessibility scarcity allows the government to effectively categorize the prior improvement areas to achieve maximum equity under the same amount of care resources. There are 2046 (47.26%) and 396 (9.15%) BSAs that should be improved before and after optimization, respectively. Therefore, integrating socioeconomic status and spatial factors to assess accessibility of community-based care resources could provide comprehensive consideration for equal allocation.Scientific interest in the positive aspects of aging and the development of healthy aging has increased, given the need to ensure older people well-being and quality of life. In this sense, social support and some sociodemographic variables may have a not yet entirely clear role. The main objective of this work was to analyze the predictive relationships of age, marital status, social support and subjective well-being on the general perception of the health of a group of elderly people. The participants were 137 people (77.4% women) between 61 and 91 years old (M = 73.11; SD = 6.22); 56.9% of them had a partner and 40.1% did not. The path analysis tested indicates that social support has an indirect predictive value on perceived overall health through its influence on subjective well-being. Age and life satisfaction are the most important direct predictors of perceived overall health. Conclusions highlight the need to delve into the study of explanatory factors of the general perception of the health of the elderly and promote interventions to facilitate the development of an appropriate social support network and increase the subjective well-being of this group. The difficulty of cultivation of Legionella spp. from water samples remains a strenuous task even for experienced laboratories. BMS-986165 The long incubation periods for Legionellae make isolation difficult. In addition, the water samples themselves are often contaminated with accompanying microbial flora, and therefore require complex cultivation methods from diagnostic laboratories. In addition to the recent update of the standard culture method ISO 117312017, new strategies such as quantitative PCR (qPCR) are often discussed as alternatives or additions to conventional Legionella culture approaches. In this study, we compared ISO 117312017 with qPCR assays targeting Legionella spp., Legionella pneumophila, and Legionella pneumophila serogroup 1. In samples with a high burden of accompanying microbial flora, qPCR shows an excellent negative predictive value for Legionella pneumophila, thus making qPCR an excellent tool for pre-selection of negative samples prior to work-intensive culture methods. This and its low limit of detection make qPCR a diagnostic asset in Legionellosis outbreak investigations, where quick-risk assessments are essential, and are a useful method for monitoring risk sites.
