Studies in the past have continuously presented and showed areas or groups of people affected by various inequality in accessing the health resources and services to help improve this matter. Alongside, disease prevention is as important to minimise the disease burden and improve health and quality of life. These aspects are interlinked and greatly contributes to one's health.

In this study, the Gini coefficient and Lorenz curve are used to give an indication of the overall health inequality. The impact of this inequality in granular level is demonstrated using Bayesian estimation for disease detection. The Bayesian estimation used a two-component modelling approach that separates the case detection process and incidence rate using a mixed Poisson distribution while capturing underlying spatio-temporal characteristics. Bayesian model averaging is used in conjunction with the two-component modelling appth potential under-reported cases and under-served health care. The proposed approach in this study provides insight into the impact of health inequality in disease detection without requiring costly and time-extensive surveys and relying mainly on the data at hand. Furthermore, the application of Bayesian model averaging provided a flexible modelling framework that allows covariates to move between case detection and incidence models.

Both hepatitis B virus (HBV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV) infections are important risk factors for hepatocellular carcinoma. However, their effect on other hepatobiliary cancers, such as biliary tract cancers (BTCs), is not well established. We searched PubMed to identify all relevant articles published before June 9, 2021. Meta-analysis was performed to calculate pooled odds ratios (ORs) and corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CIs). The meta-analysis was evaluated by heterogeneity testing, sensitivity analyses, and publication bias assessment.

In total, 48 articles involving 69,723 cases and 4,047,574 controls were obtained to calculate the associations between HBV or HCV infection and the risk of BTCs. We found that both HBV and HCV infections were associated with the risk of BTCs, with pooled ORs of 2.16 (95% CI 1.73-2.69) and 2.12 (95% CI 1.62-2.77), respectively. Subgroup analyses by ethnicity suggested that HBV infection could increase the risk of BTCs in both Asian (OR = 2.29, 95% CI 1.76-2.97) and Caucasian (OR = 1.80, 95% CI 1.18-2.75) populations. In addition, HCV infection resulted in a higher increased risk of BTCs in Caucasian populations than in Asian populations (OR = 3.93 vs. 1.51, P = 0.014). In particular, significantly increased risks of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) were identified in individuals with HBV (OR = 3.96, 95% CI 3.05-5.15) or HCV infection (OR = 2.90, 95% CI 2.07-4.08).

Antibodies against myelin-oligodendrocyte-glycoprotein (MOG-Abs) associated disease (MOGAD) has been recognized as a disease entity. Optic neuritis (ON) is the most common symptom in MOGAD. To demonstrate the differences in retinal microvascular characteristics between patients with MOGAD-ON and aquaporin-4 antibody (AQP4-Ab) positive ON.

In a prospective study, optical coherence tomography (OCT) and optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) were used to measure retinal and microvascular parameters.

Twenty-six MOGAD-ON eyes, 40 AQP4-ON eyes, and 60 control eyes were included in the study. The thickness of RNFL and GCC in MOGAD-ON eyes was significantly lower than that of HC (p < 0.001, respectively), but comparable to AQP4-ON eyes. The vessel density in retina capillary plexus (RCP) was reduced significantly in MOGAD-ON than that in AQP4-ON (p < 0.05, respectively). The visual accuracy was positively correlated with vessel density of superficial RCP in MOG-ON (p= 0.001) and positively correlated with the thickness of the inner retina layer in AQP4-ON (p< 0.001).

Eastern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is home to a vast range of medicinal and edible waterbird species due to its diverse geographical environment. Waterbird species have been used for various ailments and cultural practices since ancient times, while ethno-pharmacological applications and cultural uses of waterbird species in this area have seldom been documented. This study is the first ethnomedicinal and cultural assessment of waterbird species, and the first compilation and listing of all known data on these species in Eastern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan.

Interviews and questionnaires were used to collect data from native respondents (N = 100). To analyze the data, principal component analysis (PCA), relative frequency of citation (RFC), fidelity level (FL%), relative popularity level (RPL), rank order priority, and similarity index were used.

In total, 64 waterbird species were utilized in cultural practices, of which 40 species are used to cure different infectious and chronic diseases such as cold, cough,tant ethno-ornithological information about native people and their links with waterbird species, which might be helpful for the sustainable use of waterbird diversity in the research area.

Classification of specialised centres was based on the number of ILD patients managed and procedures performed, as defined by the European Network on Rare Lung Diseases.
