NF-κB inhibition decreased proliferation and inflammation in BC cells. Additionally, PRKCQ was identified as a potential target of crocin according to PharmMapper database. Crocin treatment inhibited the activation of NF-κB in BC cells by reducing PRKCQ expression. Among the detected mycotoxins in barley, Fusarium and Alternaria toxins represent severe food safety issues due to their widespread prevalence and strong synergistic toxicity. In this study, the effects of Fusarium and Alternaria fungi and their related toxins were investigated using simulated malting process conditions for contaminated barley samples. The dynamic changes of the fungal community and their associated mycotoxins were analyzed via high-throughput sequencing and UHPLC-q-trap-MS/MS, respectively. The results showed significant differences in the fungal communities between barley grains and their associated malt samples. These differences were noted for the following fungal community diversity, dominant flora and the fungal structures at phylum, genus, and family level. Additionally, significant changes in the levels of alternariol monomethyl ether, tentoxin, zearalenone, and 15Acetyl-Deoxynivelenone were observed (p less then 0.05) during the malting process. These results provide valuable information for strategies aimed at controlling fungal infections and the presence of mycotoxins in malt, so as to ensure food safety and human health.Worldwide, fungal contamination of water resources has become a major threat to both human health and the environment. The adaptation of nanotechnology in conventional water processes is significant to offer new breakthroughs in water treatment, especially fungal contaminants. Chitosan conjugated metal oxide nanoparticles can affect the antimicrobial properties of cellulosic foam. In the present study, three different types of biocompatible nanoconjugates (i.e., ZnO/chitosan, CuO/chitosan, and Ag2O/chitosan) were synthesized for functionalization of five differently processed cellulose foam filters for resisting fungal spores during water treatment. To evaluate the antifungal effect of these nanoconjugates against prevalent strains of Aspergillus niger (A. niger), Aspergillus flavus (A. flavus), and Rhizopus oryzae (R. oryzae), the stable coating was introduced on different cellulose filter papers through impregnation. The statistical analysis of antifungal experiment was carried out by two-way factorial ANOVA test. Cellulose filter containing ZnO/chitosan displayed a stronger antifungal behavior in disc diffusion method than those impregnated with CuO/chitosan, and Ag2O/chitosan nanoconjugates. Besides the choice of nanoconjugates, the variation in cellulose foam filters (in terms of concentration of their raw materials and/or processing methodology) can also affect their antifungal performance. Further, the assessment of cytotoxic nature of such nanocomposites-modified cellulose foam filters is a fundamental step towards their real field applications.Benzoyl urea insecticides are a class of pesticides used in agriculture for the inhibition of chitin synthesis in pests. These compounds are persistent in environmental samples, and thus their monitoring is necessary to avoid detrimental effects to human health and the environment. Magnet integrated fabric phase sorptive extraction (MI-FPSE) is a recently introduced sample preparation technique that combines sample stirring and analyte extraction into one stand-alone device. However, the applicability and the potential benefits of this technique in environmental analysis remain unexplored. In the present study, MI-FPSE was employed for the first time for the extraction and preconcentration of benzoyl urea insecticides (i.e., diflubenzuron, triflumuron, hexaflumuron, lufenuron and chlorfluazuron) from environmental water samples prior to their determination by high performance liquid chromatography-diode array detection (HPLC-DAD). The main factors affecting the performance of the proposed methodology were thoroughly investigated and optimized and the MI-FPSE-HPLC-DAD method was validated. The proposed method enabled the handling of relatively high sample quantity resulting in high preconcentration factors (501 and 731) and good sensitivity. Under optimum conditions, the limits of detection and the limits of quantification for the benzoyl urea insecticides were 0.06 ng mL-1 and 0.20 ng mL-1, respectively. Moreover, the relative standard deviations were less than 6.1% for intra-day study and less than 8.2% for inter-day study showing good method precision. After its validation, the herein developed method was successfully employed for the analysis of tap, mineral, river, and lake water samples. In addition, the ComplexGAPI index was used to present the green potential of developed method from the step of MI-FPSE device preparation to final determination. All things considered, MI-FPSE could potentially serve as an efficient tool for the monitoring of pollutants in environmental analysis.Few studies have investigated stress in association with social and process smartphone use and how these types of use influence problematic smartphone use during the COVID-19 pandemic; furthermore, the moderation effects of resilience have been rarely tested in this model. For these, a cross-sectional survey was conducted involving 766 Chinese undergraduate students (74.4% female; M = 20.1 years, SD = 1.15) who were measured with their levels of stress, academic burnout, smartphone use types (social/process smartphone use), resilience, and problematic smartphone use. Based on the I-PACE theory, we built a structural equation model, and the results indicated that compared with social smartphone use, process smartphone use more related to problematic smartphone use; academic burnout fully mediated between stress and process smartphone use, and between stress and problematic smartphone use. Moreover, resilience moderated between stress and academic burnout, between academic burnout and process smartphone use, and between academic burnout and problematic smartphone use. We discuss the process smartphone use as a key indicator of problematic smartphone use and the role of academic burnout for linking stress and smartphone use behaviors. In addition, interventions for enhancing resilience should be launched in the future.The Frontal Systems Behavior Scale (FrSBe) is a self-report measure that assesses difficulties with cognitive and emotional control such as apathetic behavior, lack of inhibitory control, and executive dysfunction. Previous neuroimaging studies highlight the involvement of the anterior cingulate cortex (ACC), orbitofrontal cortex (OFC), and dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) in these processes. In this study, we investigated whether there was convergence across subjective and objective measures of apathy, disinhibition, and executive dysfunction. Specifically, we studied whether ACC, OFC, and DLPFC activation during a modified version of the Multi-Source Interference Task (MSIT), is associated with FrSBe apathy, disinhibition, and executive dysfunction scores, in healthy controls (HC) and individuals with Bipolar Disorder (BD), who commonly exhibit difficulties in these domains. Individuals with BD (n = 31) and HCs (n = 31) with no current or past psychiatric illness completed the FrSBe and the MSIT during fMRI scanning. We investigated task-specific changes in the ACC, DLPFC, and OFC and their correlations with FrSBe apathy, disinhibition, and executive dysfunction subscale scores, respectively. Individuals with BD and the HC group demonstrated greater ACC, DLPFC, and OFC activation during MSIT interference conditions compared with non-interference conditions. Furthermore, there was a significant negative correlation between OFC activation and disinhibition scores, which remained significant after accounting for medication load. Together, these results demonstrate the FrSBe disinhibition subscale, in particular, can be a self-report measure that converges with behavioral and neural markers of disinhibition in BD.The aim of the present study was to develop an abbreviated social cognition (SC) battery for individuals with schizophrenia spectrum disorders (SSD) to reduce the heterogeneity of and increase the frequency of assessment of SC impairment. To this end, the present study utilized Item Response Theory to develop brief versions of SC tasks administered to individuals with SSD (n = 386) and individuals without a psychiatric diagnosis (n = 292) during the Social Cognition Psychometric Evaluation (SCOPE) Study. Seven brief measures of SC were evaluated (i.e., Ambiguous Intentions and Hostility Questionnaire [AIHQ], Bell Lysaker Emotion Recognition Task [BLERT], Penn Emotion Recognition Task, Reading the Mind in the Eyes Task, Hinting Task, Intentionality Bias Task, Relationships Across Domains Task), and the existing brief version of The Awareness of Social Inference Test was reviewed. Psychometric properties for each brief SC measure were evaluated and compared to the original measures. Based on psychometric properties and relationships with other measures of SC, neurocognition, and functioning, two brief tasks (AIHQ, BLERT) and the full-length Hinting task were recommended for inclusion in a brief battery of SC tasks from the SCOPE Study (BB-SCOPE). The resulting BB-SCOPE is efficient, with an estimated administration time of 15 min, and comprehensively assesses three domains of SC (i.e., attributional bias, emotion processing, theory of mind) to identify severe SC impairment. Scoring of BB-SCOPE is also straightforward and includes a recommended cut-point of 60 for identifying SC impairment.

Nowadays surgery remains the gold standard of treatment for tongue cancer. Via a more clear and precise terminology, the glossectomy classification by Ansarin et al. facilitates shared communication between surgeons, allowing comparison between published research and improving surgical practice and patient care. To establish the association of glossectomies, according to their classification by Ansarin et al. Triapine with overall survival (OS), disease-free survival (DSF), and cause-specific survival (CSS) in tongue cancer, we conducted a systemic retrospective study on 300 consecutive patients affected by primary oral tongue cancer and treated with surgery at the European Institute of Oncology, IRCCS (IEO).

Three hundred patients with tongue squamous cell carcinoma and treated at the Division of Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery of the European Institute of Oncology, IRCCS were cataloged according to the glossectomy classification. OS, DFS, and CSS were compared by surgical treatments.

OS-5yrs was 80% for the type I glossectomy group, 75% for type II, 65% for type III, and 35% for type IV-V. DFS-5yrs was 74%, 60%, 55%, and 27%, respectively for I, II, III, and IV-V glossectomy group; CSS-5yrs was 82%, 80%, 72%, and 48%, respectively for I, II, III, and IV-V glossectomy group (p<0.01).
