Docking-based virtual screening workflows were used to generate lead compounds using HTVS, SP and XP based GLIDE G-score values. The candidate leads were filtered using ADMET pharmacological and physicochemical properties screening. Whole exome sequencing was performed and co-segregation analysis of the family was done by sanger sequencing. Also, review of 28 molecularly confirmed patients with BNHS from the literature was evaluated.Results We identified a missense homozygous variant (c.3524 C > G (p.Ser1175Cys)) in the PNPLA6 gene, which explains the phenotype of the patient and neurologic, ophthalmologic, endocrine, and genetic evaluations established a diagnosis of BNHS. Symptoms, ethnicity, clinical and genetic findings of 28 molecularly confirmed patients with BNHS from the literature were also presented.Conclusion We present the main findings of a Turkish family with BNHS together with detailed clinical and genetic profiles of patients diagnosed as BNHS that have been molecularly confirmed in the literature so far.Efficient isolation of genetically modified cells that are phenotypically indistinguishable from the unmodified cells remains a major technical barrier for the broader utilization of CRISPR/Cas9. Here, we report a novel enrichment approach to select the genome engineered cells by co-targeting a genomically integrated GFP gene along with the endogenous gene of interest (GOI). Using this co-targeting approach, multiple genomic loci were successfully targeted in chicken (DF1) and quail (CEC-32) fibroblast cell lines by transient transfection of Cas9 and guide RNAs (gRNAs). Suicide is a leading cause of death worldwide. Although inconsistent, impulsivity has been identified as a risk factor for suicidal thoughts and behaviors, and these inconsistent findings can largely be attributed to varying operationalizations of impulsivity. As such, the UPPS model of impulsivity provides a clear definition of impulsivity and its associated features that may provide utility in clarifying unreliable findings between impulsivity and suicide. This review aimed to summarize relevant information pertaining to the UPPS model of impulsivity and suicide.
This systematic review followed the
guide outlined by the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) statement. Articles were gathered from PsycINFO, PsycArticles, Scopus, and PubMed.
Twenty-eight articles were reviewed and analyzed. Most articles reviewed reported on indirect (i.e., through mediators and moderators) associations between the UPPS dimensions and suicidal behaviors. Additionally, results note based on impulsivity traits and suicide history.
The aim of the current study was to examine the social representation (SR) of hearing aids in people with hearing loss (PHL) in India, the Republic of Korea (ROK), the United Kingdom (UK), and the United States of America (US).
The study used a cross-sectional survey design. The data collected by using a free association task were analysed qualitatively (i.e. content analysis) and quantitatively (i.e. chi-square analysis, similarities analysis, prototypical analysis).
424 participants with hearing loss.
The most commonly reported categories across all countries were "beneficial," "cost and time," and "appearance and design." Approximately 50% of the associations reported were negative. There were variations in terms of the categories that were predominant in the SR of each country. "Others actions and attitude" category was predominantly reported by PHL in India. "Disturbance" and "dissatisfaction" of hearing aids and the "repairs and maintenance of hearing aids" categories were mainly reported from the ROK and the US, respectively.
The current results highlight the main aspects that PHL report spontaneously when they think about hearing aids. The findings will help to further inform public health campaigns and will contribute to develop culturally appropriate media materials regarding hearing aids.

The evidence pertaining to the effects of asthma on Coronavirus disease 2019 outcomes has been unclear. To improve our understanding of the clinically important association of asthma and Coronavirus disease 2019.
A matched cohort study was performed using data from the Mass General Brigham Health Care System (Boston, MA). Adult (age ≥18 years) patients with confirmed Coronavirus disease 2019 and without chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cystic fibrosis, or interstitial lung disease between March 4, 2020 and July 2, 2020 were analyzed. Up to five non-asthma comparators were matched to each asthma patient based on age (within 5 years), sex, and date of positive test (within 7 days). The primary outcomes were hospitalization, mechanical ventilation, and death, using multivariable Cox-proportional hazards models accounting for competing risk of death, when appropriate. Patients were followed for these outcomes from diagnosis of Coronavirus disease 2019 until July 2, 2020.
Among 562 asthma patients, 199 (21%) were hospitalized, 15 (3%) received mechanical ventilation, and 7 (1%) died.
