This paper discusses and presents an improved form of DWT for feature extraction, called Slantlet transform (SLT) along with neutrosophy, a generalization of fuzzy logic, which is a relatively new logic. Thus, a novel composite NS-SLT model has been suggested as a source to derive statistical texture features that used to identify the malignancy of brain tumor. The MR images in the neutrosophic domain are defined using three membership sets, true (T), false (F), and indeterminate (I); then, SLT was applied to each membership set. Three statistical measurement-based methods are used to extract texture features from images of brain MRI. One-way ANOVA has been applied as a method of reducing the number of extracted features for the classifiers; then, the extracted features are subsequently provided to the four neural network classification techniques, Support Vector Machine Neural Network (SVM-NN), Decision Tree Neural Network (DT-NN), K-Nearest Neighbor Neural Network (KNN-NN), and Naive Bayes Neural Networks (NB-NN), to predict the type of the brain tumor. Meanwhile, the performance of the proposed model is assessed by calculating average accuracy, precision, sensitivity, specificity, and Area Under the Curve (AUC) of the Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curve. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed approach is quite accurate and efficient for diagnosing brain tumors when the Gray Level Run Length Matrix (GLRLM) features derived from the composite NS-SLT technique is used.The global incidence of sepsis is increasing, and mortality remains high. The mortality is even higher in resource-poor countries where facilities and equipment are limited. The Surviving Sepsis Campaign (SSC) recommends an updated hour-1 bundle based on the evidence from the International Guidelines for Management of Sepsis and Septic Shock 2018. To reduce mortality from sepsis, compliance with the "bundle" is essential. Data from developing countries like Sri Lanka on the management of sepsis according to the SSC guidelines are not available. Hence, this study looks at the patient characteristics and management of septic patients at a tertiary care hospital in Sri Lanka. Patients admitted to the University Medical Unit of Colombo South Teaching Hospital from January to August 2019 fulfilling the inclusion criteria were included. The hour-1 sepsis bundle adherence, demographic data, and management were recorded. There were 387 patients 163 males and 224 females. The age range was 15-95 with a mean age of 63. care hospital. Education and training of staff are needed to boost adherence. Oxidative stress plays a pathogenic role in many diseases and enables further injuries. The objective of this study was to compare the levels of enzymatic and nonenzymatic oxidative stress markers in Hucul horses living in seminatural conditions and in commercially handled Arabian horses. We tested the serum samples for total superoxide dismutase (total SOD), Cu-Zn-superoxide dismutase (CuZnSOD), and Mn-dependent superoxide dismutase (MnSOD) activity; for lipofuscin (LPS), ceruloplasmin (CER) and malondialdehyde (MDA) concentration; and for total antioxidant capacity (TAC) and total oxidant status (TOS). Total SOD (p less then 0.001), MnSOD (p less then 0.001), and CuZnSOD (p less then 0.001) activities were significantly higher whereas LPS (p less then 0.05), TAC (p less then 0.001), TOS (p less then 0.001), and MDA (p less then 0.001) concentrations were significantly lower in the serum samples collected from Huculs vs. Arabian horses, regardless of the gender. This study was firstly conducted to investigate whether resveratrol could alleviate IUGR-induced hepatic lipid accumulation, alteration of redox and immune status in a sucking piglet model and explore the possible mechanisms at transcriptional levels. A total of 36 pairs of 7 d old male normal birth weight (NBW) and IUGR piglets were orally fed with either 80 mg resveratrol/kg body weight/d or 0.5% carboxymethylcellulose sodium for a period of 14 days, respectively. Compared with the NBW piglets, the IUGR piglets displayed compromised growth performance and liver weight, reduced plasma free fatty acid (FFA) level, increased hepatic OS, abnormal hepatic lipid accumulation and weakened hepatic immune function, and hepatic aberrant transcriptional expression of some genes such as heme oxygenase 1, superoxide dismutase 1, sterol regulatory element-binding protein 1c, stearoyl-CoA desaturase 1, liver fatty acid-binding proteins 1, toll-like receptor 4, and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α).
