The results have evidenced high levels of mercury (mean value 88.6 µg g-1), antimony (77.7 µg g-1), strontium (12,039 µg g-1) and zinc (103 µg g-1), whereas rare earth elements show levels similar to the literature data. Particular consideration is drawn for arsenic (414 µg g-1) the levels found in this paper (ranging between 1 and 5100 µg g-1) explain the high content of such element (as arsenates) in the aquifer, a big issue in this area.As part of COVID-19 consequences, it has been estimated that 5% of patients affected by this disease will require admission to the intensive care unit (ICU), and physical therapy techniques have been implemented in patients with other conditions admitted to ICU. The aim of the present study is to summarize all the available information about the implementation of physical therapy management in critically ill patients. From three clinical guidelines already published, we performed a search in PubMed, Scopus, ScienceDirect, and CINAHL, including systematic reviews, clinical guidelines, and randomized controlled trials, among others. Data extraction was performed independently by two reviewers. Quality assessment was developed through the AMSTAR-2 tool and PEDro Scale. A narrative synthesis was performed and 29 studies were included. The information extracted has been classified into four folders ICU environment in COVID-19 (security aspects and management of the patient), respiratory physiotherapy (general indications and contraindications, spontaneously breathing and mechanically ventilated patient approaches), positional treatment, and exercise therapy (safety aspects and progression). The implementation of physiotherapy in patients affected with COVID-19 admitted to the ICU is a necessary strategy that prevents complications and contributes to the stabilization of patients in critical periods, facilitating their recovery.Calprotectin (CLP) is a heterodimer formed by two S-100 calcium-binding cytosolic proteins, S100A8 and S100A9. It is a multifunctional protein expressed mainly by neutrophils and released extracellularly by activated or damaged cells mediating a broad range of physiological and pathological responses. It has been more than 20 years since the implication of S100A8/A9 in the inflammatory process was shown; however, the evaluation of its role in the pathogenesis of respiratory diseases or its usefulness as a biomarker for the appropriate diagnosis and prognosis of lung diseases have only gained attention in recent years. GLPG3970 This review aimed to provide current knowledge regarding the potential role of CLP in the pathophysiology of lung diseases and describe how this knowledge is, up until now, translated into daily clinical practice. CLP is involved in numerous cellular processes in lung health and disease. In addition to its anti-microbial functions, CLP also serves as a molecule with pro- and anti-tumor properties related to cell survival and growth, angiogenesis, DNA damage response, and the remodeling of the extracellular matrix. The findings of this review potentially introduce CLP in daily clinical practice within the spectrum of respiratory diseases.Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is a great threat to public health, being a causative pathogen of a deadly coronavirus disease (COVID-19). It has spread to more than 200 countries and infected millions of individuals globally. Although SARS-CoV-2 has structural/genomic similarities with the previously reported SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV, the specific mutations in its genome make it a novel virus. Available therapeutic strategies failed to control this virus. Despite strict standard operating procedures (SOPs), SARS-CoV-2 has spread globally and it is mutating gradually as well. Diligent efforts, special care, and awareness are needed to reduce transmission among susceptible masses particularly elder people, children, and health care workers. In this review, we highlighted the basic genome organization and structure of SARS-CoV-2. Its transmission dynamics, symptoms, and associated risk factors are discussed. This review also presents the latest mutations identified in its genome, the potential therapeutic options being used, and a brief explanation of vaccine development efforts against COVID-19. The effort will not only help readers to understand the deadly SARS-CoV-2 virus but also provide updated information to researchers for their research work.Breast cancer (BC) is a heterogenous disease encompassing tumors with different histomorphological phenotypes and transcriptionally defined subtypes. However, the non-mutational/epigenetic alterations that are associated with or causally involved in phenotype diversity or conversion remain to be elucidated. Data from the pancreatic cancer model have shown that the small GTPase RAC1 and its alternatively spliced isoform, RAC1B, antagonistically control epithelial-mesenchymal transition and cell motility induced by transforming growth factor β. Using a battery of established BC cell lines with either a well-differentiated epithelial or poorly differentiated mesenchymal phenotype, we observed subtype-specific protein expression of RAC1B and RAC1. While epithelial BC lines were RAC1Bhigh and RAC1low, mesenchymal lines exhibited the reverse expression pattern. High RAC1B and/or low RAC1 abundance also correlated closely with a poor invasion potential, and vice versa, as revealed by measuring random cell migration (chemokinesis), the preferred mode of cellular movement in cells that have undergone mesenchymal transdifferentiation. We propose that a high RAC1BRAC1 ratio in BC cells is predictive of an epithelial phenotype, while low RAC1B along with high RAC1 is a distinguishing feature of the mesenchymal state. The combined quantitative assessment of RAC1B and RAC1 in tumor biopsies of BC patients may represent a novel diagnostic tool for probing molecular subtype and eventually predict malignant potential of breast tumors. On the basis of the self-centeredness and selflessness model, a new instrument assessing two distinct dimensions of happiness, fluctuating and authentic-durable, was developed. The current research aimed at examining the factor structure of the Italian version of the instrument, its psychometric properties and construct validity. To this end, two studies were carried out. Study 1 (N = 544) examined different measurement models, from unidimensional to multidimensional, from a fully symmetrical bifactor solution to a bifactor (S-1) solution. Findings indicated better and adequate fit indices for the last model. Using various samples (n = 1274) Study 2 confirmed the bifactor (S-1) structure and analysed psychometric properties, convergent and divergent validity and temporal stability of the instrument. Findings generally gave evidence of the multidimensional conceptualization of the construct, good levels of reliability values and adequate convergent validity of both scales. Discriminant validity showed mixed results from no association of age with authentic-durable happiness to weak and negative association with fluctuating happiness.
