3 Mtce. On average, solid waste recycling during the period led to a 43.2% saving on electricity. Solid waste recycling avoided 4765.9 billion kg of carbon dioxide emission and 22.502 billion kg of methane emission. It was also found that the recycling of solid waste saved a total amount of 10,669.8 M kg of NOX emission but had a burden of -6263.2 M kg of VOCs emission on the environment. Solid waste recycling avoided the emission of CO2, CH4, NOX, and SOX, but the recycling of steel, plastics, and paper waste had negative impacts on the environment in terms of VOCs and PM emissions. Proper measures such as installing air pollution control devices should be put in place to minimize the emission of pollutants during the recycling of these solid wastes.Penicillium oxalicum has received increasing attention as a potential cellulase-producer. In this study, a copper-controlled flippase recombination enzyme/recognition target (FLP/FRT)-mediated recombination system was constructed in P. oxalicum, to overcome limited availability of antibiotic resistance markers. Using this system, two crucial transcription repressor genes atf1 and cxrC for the production of cellulase and xylanase under solid-state fermentation (SSF) were simultaneously deleted, thereby leading to 2.4- to 29.1-fold higher cellulase and 78.9% to 130.8% higher xylanase production than the parental strain under SSF, respectively. Glucose and xylose released from hydrolysis of pretreated sugarcane bagasse achieved 10.6%-13.5% improvement by using the crude enzymes from the engineered strain Δatf1ΔcxrCflp under SSF in comparison with that of the parental strain. Consequently, these results provide a feasible strategy for improved cellulase and xylanase production by filamentous fungi.
Although the breast cancer mortality has slowed down from 2008 to 2017, breast cancer incidence rate continues to rise and thus, new and/or improved treatments are highly needed. Among them, oncolytic virotherapy which has the ability of facilitating the antitumor adaptive immunity, appears as a promising anticancer therapy. Oncolytic measles virus (MV) is particularly suitable for targeting breast cancer due to the upregulation of MV's receptor nectin-4. Nonetheless, with limited clinical success currently, ways of boosting MV-induced breast cancer oncolysis are therefore necessary. Oncolytic virotherapy alone and combined with chemotherapeutic drugs are two strategic areas with intensive development for the search of anticancer drugs. Navitoclax Considering that baicalein (BAI) and cinnamaldehyde (CIN) have demonstrated antitumor properties against multiple cancers including breast cancer, they could be good partners for MV-based oncolytic virotherapy.
To assess the in vitro effect of BAI and CIN with MV and assestegies targeting nectin-4-marked breast cancer cells.
We demonstrated, for the first time, effective combination of oncolytic MV with BAI or CIN that could be further explored and potentially developed into novel therapeutic strategies targeting nectin-4-marked breast cancer cells.
Community and family violence are major global health problems. Approximately 1.3 million deaths around the world and 2.5% of global mortality are due to violence. In El Salvador, youth are exposed to multiple levels of physical and emotional violence, abuse, and crime.
The objective of this study was to investigate the various sources of violence against youth and determine the associations with mental distress symptoms, suicidal ideation, and alcohol use outcomes.
We use information gathered in 2017 from a representative sample of 13- to 24-year-old adolescents and young adults from El Salvador.
Data used in this analysis came from a nationally cross-sectional household survey called Violence Against Children Survey (VACS) in El Salvador. We used logistic regression models to determine the associations between lifetime witnessing violence, exposure to physical, sexual, emotional violence, and youth mental health outcomes.
Polyvictimization was associated with greater odds of each mental health outcome after adjusting for confounders. The strongest relative association was observed between emotional violence and mental distress. Sexual violence and emotional violence were predictors of suicidal ideation. Finally, physical violence and sexual violence were associated with alcohol use. The greatest associations were observed between sexual violence perpetrated by a parent, peer, or another adult in the community and suicidal ideation, at a magnitude of approximately six times higher odds.
Preventing violence against youth is likely to improve mental health and wellbeing in El Salvador and other similar contexts worldwide.

To explore family members' influences on mothers' feeding practices of preschoolers in Chilean families residing in vulnerable neighborhoods from the Metropolitan Region of Santiago, Chile.
Qualitative study.
Nine child care centers in Región Metropolitana, Santiago, Chile.
Twenty-four mothers and one father of preschool children.
Photo-elicitation techniques were applied to 25 semi-structured interviews and their subsequent inductive thematic analysis of family influences.
The participants described that the family influences on their feeding practices depended on the family structure and the interpersonal closeness between relatives. Some influences directly affected child eating behavior, especially in relatives who live together, while others were mediated by the relationships generated between parents and other members of the family. Fathers, in two-parent families, and grandparents are the most influential relatives on the participants' feeding practices. Generally, fathers participated and were in line with the mother's feeding practices of their children. Grandparents enriched their grandchildren's eating experiences by offering homemade preparations, expressing affection with food, including unhealthy options, and supporting parents to diversifying and structuring feeding practices.
According to their interpersonal closeness or cohabitation, parental feeding practices and child eating behaviors were impacted by family members and their dynamics. The development of strategies to prevent and treat childhood obesity should consider a family approach in vulnerable families.
