Regulatory T (Treg) cells, a subtype of immunosuppressive CD4+ T cells, are vital for maintaining immune homeostasis in healthy people. Forkhead box protein P3 (FOXP3), a member of the forkhead-winged-helix family, is the pivotal transcriptional factor of Treg cells. The expression, post-translational modifications, and protein complex of FOXP3 present a great impact on the functional stability and immune plasticity of Treg cells in vivo. Here, we summarize some recent findings on FOXP3 regulation and Treg cell function. We also review the current knowledge about the underlying mechanism of FOXP3 mutant-induced IPEX syndrome and some latest clinical prospects. At last, this review offers a novel insight into the role played by the FOXP3 complex in potential therapeutic applications in IPEX syndrome. Noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs) play important roles in many biological processes and provide materials for evolutionary adaptations beyond protein-coding genes, such as in the arms race between the host and pathogen. However, currently, a comprehensive high-resolution analysis of primate genomes that includes the latest annotated ncRNAs is not available. BACKGROUND Data on real-world antiarrhythmic and anticoagulant therapy use in elderly atrial fibrillation (AF) patients are lacking; thus, we performed a subanalysis of data from the ANAFIE registry to clarify the current management of Japanese patients aged ≥75 years with non-valvular AF. METHODS The ANAFIE registry was a multicenter, prospective, observational study. Patients were stratified into three groups rhythm control group, rate control group, and no antiarrhythmic group. The CHADS2, CHA2DS2-VASc, and HAS-BLED scores were used to estimate embolic and bleeding risk. RESULTS Among 32,490 patients, the overall frequencies of AF by type were 42.0 % (paroxysmal), 30.1 % (persistent and long-standing persistent), and 27.9 % (permanent). Significant differences (p  less then  0.0001, each) in age were observed among the three groups; more patients aged 75-79 years received rhythm control (44.2 %) vs rate control (38.8 %). OBJECTIVES Ulnar-sided injuries of the non-dominant wrist are common in elite tennis players using a double-handed backhand technique. This study investigated the radiological changes of the non-dominant wrist in elite symptomatic and asymptomatic players using this technique as well as healthy controls. We compared clinical findings to radiological abnormalities. DESIGN Cross-sectional design with blinded radiological assessment, and contemporaneous clinical assessment of symptomatic players. METHODS Magnetic resonance images (MRI) of wrists related to non-dominant ulnar-sided pain, were taken in 14 symptomatic tennis players, 14 asymptomatic tennis players, and 12 healthy controls which were then independently reviewed for abnormalities by blinded radiologists. Total abnormalities and global between-group differences in the triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFC), ulnar collateral ligament (UCL), extensor carpi ulnaris (ECU) and supporting structures, osseous-articular lesions and ganglia were assessed. These were then compared to clinical examinations of the symptomatic players to assess agreement. RESULTS Symptomatic players reported a mean 3.64 abnormalities, being exactly 1 abnormality greater than asymptomatic players (2.64) and controls (2.50), suggesting similar asymptomatic lesions in all three groups. Players with pain reported significantly more osseous-articular lesions, ECU tendon and dorsal radio-ulnar ligament abnormalities, while changes to the UCL may reflect an isolated problem in specific wrists. There were no between-group differences in the presence of ganglia, most TFC structures nor ECU subsheath tear and subluxation. CONCLUSIONS Clinicians should carefully consider radiological changes alongside their clinical diagnosis of non-dominant wrist pain in tennis players due to possible tennis-related changes and/or asymptomatic findings. BACKGROUND Elevated serum lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] level is an independent risk factor for atherosclerotic diseases in the general population and hemodialysis patients. However, the association between Lp(a) levels and mortality has received little attention in peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients. OBJECTIVE The objective of the study was to evaluate the association of Lp(a) levels with all-cause and cardiovascular (CV) mortality in PD patients. METHODS This retrospective cohort study was conducted in PD patients enrolled from January 1, 2006 to December 31, 2015, and followed until December 31, 2018. Cox regression models were performed to assess the association of serum Lp(a) levels with all-cause and CV mortality in PD patients. RESULTS In total, 1492 incident PD patients were eligible for the study. During a median follow-up period of 45.1 months, 402 all-cause and 210 CV deaths occurred. Multivariate Cox regression analysis revealed that the first and third tertiles of Lp(a) levels were significantly associated with increased risk for all-cause mortality [hazard ratio (HR) = 1.
