Our result showed dramatic downregulation of TCF7, MAP3K1, ENTPD1, and NT5E genes during human Th17 differentiation. Polarization also had a significant inducible effect on the expression of miR-9 and miR-193b over differentiation of human Th17 cells. According to our results, miR-9-5p and miR-193b-3p may contribute to Th17 differentiation probably by inhibiting the expression of negative regulators of Th17 differentiation.

Plant extracts and isolated compounds are known for their insecticidal activity. The Aedes aegypti mosquito has a significant medical impact as it transmits a number of arboviruses and is able to develop resistance to the commercially available insecticides. This study investigates larvicidal compounds isolated from Machaerium acutifolium, designated by the Brazilian Forest Service as a sustainable species.
A M. acutifolium trunk ethyl acetate extract was fractionated using chromatographic methods with full structural elucidation by mass spectrometry (MS), nuclear magnetic resonance and specific rotation analyses revealing one new 3-arylcoumarin derivative 1; two flavonoids 2 and 3; a trans-stilbene 4, and an unprecedented natural indene 5. A M. acutifolium extract showed larvicidal activity, which increased with prolonged exposurability to cause 65% Ae. aegypti larvae mortality, suggesting they could contribute to the larvicidal activity. Compound 5, identified by liquid chromatography-MS, was over eight-fold more toxic to larvae than the crude extract after 24 h. Therefore, 5 constitutes a structural model for new prototypes to control Ae. aegypti. Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) is the most common cause of hair loss affecting both men and women. There are many conflicting results about the relationship between AGA and metabolic syndrome, (MetS) and the pathogenesis of the metabolic disorders in AGA patients is not completely elucidated.
Evaluation of the prevalence of MetS and the possible role of RANTES in pathogenesis of the MS among AGA patients.
A total of 160 subjects were enrolled in this work; included 100 patients clinically diagnosed with AGA and 60 apparently healthy control subjects. They were evaluated for MS components according to National Cholesterol Education Program (NCEP) adult treatment panel 3 (ATP3) and measurement of serum RANTES level using ELISA kits.
Metabolic syndrome was present in 30.0% of AGA patients and in 10.0% of the control group (P=.038), Studied AGA patients showed significantly higher serum RANTES when compared to control group (P value<.001). Moreover, serum RANTES levels were significantly positively correlated with BMI, FBG, TC, and LDL-c levels in AGA patients with MetS.

The influence of hyperinsulinemia and insulin resistance on arrhythmias and cardiac autonomic tone is also of ongoing interest in these subjects. We prospectively studied 81 selected patients with body mass index >40 kg/m2 , aged 34 (18-65) years. Among other examinations all subjects underwent electrocardiography and Holter monitoring with heart rate variability (HRV) and turbulence (HRT) evaluation. Controls consisted of 45 healthy, sex- and aged-matched lean volunteers. In patients median BMI was 44.5 kg/m2 (40.1-58.1), benign arterial hypertension was present in 43.2% and dysglycemia in 27.2% of cases. In the group with obesity longer PR interval (P less then .001) and corrected QT interval (P less then .001) were observed, while in Holter monitoring no significant differences in supraventricular or ventricular arrhythmias and also bradyarrhythmias prevalence were observed in comparison to controls.
