Women subjected to fertility treatment present needs requiring medical attention and decision-making processes before and after delivery that might influence their behaviour in maternal breastfeeding. This review examined the effect of fertility treatments on the start, duration and exclusiveness of maternal lactation based on all the observational studies that compared some result of maternal lactation according to the form of conception. Two reviewers extracted the data and evaluated the risk of bias. The effect of fertility treatments on the results of maternal lactation was small or not significant, and on occasions contradictory. The evidence is limited due to the low number of articles of sufficient quality included. For the time being, fertility treatments do not seem to influence the start, duration and exclusiveness of maternal lactation, but until more and better studies are available, individualized support is recommended for each mother-child dyad according to its characteristics.Intravesical instillation of BCG (Bacille Calmette-Guerin) is a therapy prepared with weakened strains of Mycobacterium bovis and is an effective complementary treatment for high-risk (non-musculoinfiltrating or non-invasive) bladder cancer. Although its safety for clinical use is high, endovesical immunotherapy is not without complications. Arthralgia and arthritis are infrequent, but potentially severe, complications, the early diagnosis of which can allow adequate medical treatment and avoid chronification of the pathology. This case shows the therapeutic management of hip osteoarthritis in a 59-year-old woman, a rare and serious complication, secondary to a rare pathology such as reactive arthritis due to BCG instillation.Oral pathologies, in addition to being highly prevalent, have a systemic impact that can be prevented by regularly eliminating the dental biofilm. This population-based, cross-sectional study analysed the oral hygiene habits of 3,289 adults through community surveys in the four provincial capitals of Galicia between March 2015 and June 2016. Sex, level of periodontal awareness, education, tobacco habit, frequency of visits to the dentist and level of oral hygiene were registered according to the use of oral hygiene products and the frequency of their use. Oral hygiene was limited to brushing their teeth once a day in 86% of those surveyed, while regular interdental hygiene was a minority practice. The variables associated with good habits were periodontal awareness, frequent visits to the dentist, being a woman and a high educational level. Oral self-care is insufficient, especially in interdental hygiene, which justifies the need for educational interventions in the community. We report the case of a boy aged 13 years and 9 months, with predominantly right-sided spastic tetraparesis, who could walk with assistance, GMFCS III, phenotype consistent with adiposogenital syndrome. He presented a 4-week history of left-sided limp without pain, radiologically classified as a stable, chronic slipped capital femoral epiphysis (SCFE) with mild slippage ( less then 30º) on the Southwick classification. In situ fixation of the hip was performed using a full-headed screw, followed by six weeks of rest. Twelve years since the intervention, the patient remains asymptomatic with no clinical or radiological changes. SCFE in patients with cerebral palsy, while highly unusual, is possible. A high level of suspicion is required for diagnosing it. We would suggest ruling out the appearance of SCFE during surveillance screening of patients with cerebral palsy, =?10 years-old, particularly in obese individuals with or without adiposogenital phenotype and limited ability to communicate verbally.

Intensive Care Units (ICU) usually treat patients with pain. Being close to patients makes nurses key professionals for guaranteeing an optimal assessment and treatment of pain, which are crucial to ensure quality care. Therefore this study aims to describe the knowledge and attitudes of ICU nurses about pain management in their clinical practice, and its relationship with socio-demographic data.

Cross-sectional study carried out in a third level university teaching hospital ICU. The Knowledge and Attitudes Survey Regarding Pain (KARSP) translated into Spanish was used to obtain information about the knowledge and attitudes towards pain of nurses.

All nurses (n?=?37) working at the ICU answered the questionnaire. The mean score of the questionnaire was 5.87 over 10 (SD 0.98, range 7.89-3.68). see more There was not a statistically significant relationship among the questionnaire score and age, professional experience, time worked at the ICU, specialized training or pain training. However, nurses with a master's degree obtained significantly higher mean scores in the questionnaire (6.97; DE 0.75 vs. 5.73; DE 0.92; p?=?0.018).

ICU nurses show insufficient knowledge and attitudes towards pain. Having a master's degree improves the results obtained in the questionnaire about knowledge and attitudes towards pain.

The main clinical characteristics of COVID-19 patients are revised here as compared to other coronavirus infections, such as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS), emphasizing clinical, diagnostic and therapeutic aspects.

To analyze which foods and beverages, frequently included in advertising mail delivered by supermarkets in the Principality of Asturias, can be considered essential for consumption by the population, as well as to compare their price with that of essential products.

Cross-sectional, descriptive study of supermarket sales circulars delivered to seven homes in Asturias (Spain) by four supermarket chains from July to December 2018. Type of product, its classification as essential or non-essential and mean price of the advertised product were registered.

The study identified 14,314 products, mostly belonging to the categories "cakes, pastries, chocolate, sugar, and sweeteners" (15.3?%), "milk and milk derivatives" (9.7?%), "processed meats".and "alcoholic beverages" (8.9?% each) and "ready-made" (8.4?%). Products considered to be non-essential were found to predominate (61.9?%). Significant differences in product type were observed between supermarket chains. Essential products had a lower mean price than the non-essential products, both overall and for each supermarket chain, and was significantly lower for one of them.
