The groups did not differ in any of the effectiveness outcomes assessed. A 24-week duration corticosteroid treatment does not seem to provide significant therapeutic benefits in comparison with standard 12-week courses, especially considering the occurrence of complete clearance.Tin-based perovskite solar cells (PSCs) demonstrate a potential application in wearable electronics due to its hypotoxicity. However, poor crystal quality is still the bottleneck for achieving high-performance flexible devices. In this work, graphite phase-C3 N4 (g-C3 N4 ) is applied into tin-based perovskite as a crystalline template, which delays crystallization via a size-effect and passivates defects simultaneously. The double hydrogen bond between g-C3 N4 and formamidine cation can optimize lattice matching and passivation. Moreover, the two-dimensional network structure of g-C3 N4 can fit on the crystals, resulting an enhanced hydrophobicity and oxidation resistance. Therefore, the flexible tin-based PSCs with g-C3 N4 realize a stabilized power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 8.56 % with negligible hysteresis. In addition, the PSCs can maintain 91 % of the initial PCE after 1000 h under N2 environment and keep 92 % of their original PCE after 600 cycles at a curvature radius of 3 mm.
Narrative communication is often more persuasive for promoting health behaviour change than communication using facts and figures; the extent to which narrative persuasiveness is due to patients' identification with the storyteller vs engagement with the story is unclear.
To examine the relative impacts of patient engagement, age concordance and gender concordance on perceived persuasiveness of video-recorded narrative clips about opioid tapering.
Patient raters watched and rated 48 brief video-recorded clips featuring 1 of 7 different storytellers describing their experiences with opioid tapering. The dependent variable was clips' perceived persuasiveness for encouraging patients to consider opioid tapering. Independent variables were rater engagement with the clip, rater-storyteller gender concordance and rater-storyteller age concordance (<60 vs ≥60). Covariates were rater beliefs about opioids and opioid tapering, clip duration and clip theme. Mixed-effects models accounted for raters viewing multiple clips and clips nested within storytellers.
In multivariable models, higher rater engagement with the clip was associated with higher perceived persuasiveness (coefficient=0.46, 95% CI 0.39-0.53, P<.001). Neither age concordance nor gender concordance significantly predicted perceived persuasiveness. The theme Problems with opioids also predicted perceived persuasiveness.
Highly engaging, clinically relevant stories are likely persuasive to patients regardless of the match between patient and storyteller age and gender. When using patient stories in tools to promote health behaviour change, stories that are clinically relevant and engaging are likely to be persuasive regardless of storytellers' demographics.

They are intriguing candidates for the development of unprecedented organic-inorganic 2D van der Waals heterostructures (vdWHs) with exotic physicochemical properties. In this work, we demonstrate the on-water surface synthesis of large-area (cm2 ), monolayer 2D polyimide (2DPI) with 3.1-nm lattice. Such 2DPI comprises metal-free porphyrin and perylene units linked by imide bonds. We further achieve a scalable synthesis of 2DPI-graphene (2DPI-G) vdWHs via a face-to-face co-assembly of graphene and 2DPI on the water surface. Remarkably, femtosecond transient absorption spectroscopy reveals an ultra-fast interlayer charge transfer (ca. 60 fs) in the resultant 2DPI-G vdWH upon protonation by acid, which is equivalent to that of the fastest reports among inorganic 2D vdWHs. Such large interlayer electronic coupling is ascribed to the interlayer cation-π interaction between 2DP and graphene.Hepatic resection (HR) is considered a treatment of choice for a single hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) ≤5 cm in patients with preserved liver function. However, it is possible for these patients to develop a severe form of recurrence (beyond Milan recurrence [BMR] criteria). This recurrence could have been avoided if liver transplantation (LT) was performed primarily, as LT is believed to yield a more favorable oncological outcome compared with HR. The aim of this study is to determine the risk factors for BMR after HR and to verify whether primary LT can provide a more favorable outcome in patients with BMR risk factors. Data from 493 patients who underwent HR for HCC ≤5 cm between 1995 and 2016 were analyzed. Among them, 74 patients (15%) experienced BMR. The 10-year survival rate of patients with BMR was significantly low compared with that of patients without BMR (22.6% versus 79.8%; P less then 0.01). In multivariate analysis, calculated hepatic venous pressure gradient (cHVPG) ≥7 mm Hg and microvascular invasion (MVI) were identified as the risk factors for BMR (P less then 0.05). During the same period, 63 eligible patients underwent LT as a primary treatment for HCC ≤5 cm. No significant difference in long-term survival rate was observed when no risk factor for BMR was present in the HR and LT groups (85.5% versus 100%; P = 0.39). However, 10-year survival was poorer in the HR group in the presence of risk factors for BMR (60.6% versus 91.8%; P less then 0.001). Conclusion Among the patients with HCC ≤5 cm, which are resectable and transplantable, LT is indicated when cHVPG ≥7 mm Hg and/or MVI is present.
To examine heart failure (HF) and chronic kidney disease (CKD) risks reduction associated with sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors (SGLT-2i) compared to other glucose-lowering drugs (oGLD) in the early stage of type 2 diabetes patients without established cardiovascular or renal diseases (CVRD-free T2D).
We performed an observational cohort study using a Japanese hospital claims registry, Medical Data Vision. CVRD-free T2D patients were identified between 1 April 2014 and 30 September 2018. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/relacorilant.html SGLT-2i and oGLD new users (and dipeptidyl peptidase 4 inhibitors [DPP-4i] separately) were subjected to 11 propensity-score matching analysis. Hazard ratios (HRs) of cardiorenal disease (HF and/or CKD), HF, CKD, stroke, myocardial infarction (MI), and all-cause mortality, were estimated using unadjusted Cox regression.
A total of 108 362 CVRD-free patients including 54 181 SGLT-2i and 54 181 oGLD users were matched. Baseline characteristics were well balanced (mean age 59.1 years, 63% male, and follow-up 1.50 years [162 970 patient-years]).
