262 OD•mL/ng) and 25-fold decrease in the LOD for sEH (0.03 ng/mL). The streptavidin bridged double nanobody ELISA was then applied successfully to tests for recovery, cross-reactivity, and real samples. Meanwhile, we accidentally found that blocking with skim milk could severely damage the performance of the capture nanobody by an order of magnitude, compared to BSA. This work provides guideline to retain the high effectiveness of capture nanobody and thus to further develop double nanobody ELISA for various analytes.Plasmonic nanoparticles exhibit excellent light-harvesting properties in the visible spectral range, which makes them a convenient material for the conversion of light into useful chemical fuel. However, the need for using surface ligands to ensure colloidal stability of nanoparticles inhibits their photochemical performance due to the insulating molecular shell hindering the carrier transport. We show that cellulose fibers, abundant in chemical functional groups, can serve as a robust substrate for the immobilization of gold nanorods, thus also providing a facile way to remove the surfactant molecules. The resulting functional composite was implemented in a bioinspired photocatalytic process involving dehydrogenation of sodium formate and simultaneous photoregeneration of cofactor molecules (NADH, nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) using visible light as an energy source. By systematic screening of experimental parameters, we compare photocatalytic and thermocatalytic properties of the composite and evaluate the role of palladium cocatalyst. The nonuniform nucleation of lithium (Li) leads to dendritic behavior and formation of dead Li, which seriously hinders the practical application of Li metal batteries. Here, atomic layer deposition (ALD) is used to deposit uniform and conformal ZnO coating (at a low content of 5.96%) on carbon fibers to form a free-standing framework Li host material without uncontrollable dendrites. Compared with the liquid deposition process, the ALD method can achieve homogeneous and conformal ZnO coating and excellent lithiophilicity of the carbon fiber, guiding molten Li infusion into the carbon fiber skeleton to obtain the Li/C composite electrode with a flat surface, thereby minimizing the effective current density. More importantly, the converted LiZn alloy will serve as uniform and numerous nucleation sites for Li and guide synchronous growth of the Li metal along carbon fibers, displaying a dendrite-free morphology after large-current and long-term deposition/dissolution cycling. Therefore, the ALD ZnO-modified carbon fiber/Li exhibits significantly better cycle and rate performances than the liquid deposition ZnO-modified carbon fiber/Li composite anode. The electrodes display an ultralong lifespan up to 400 cycles at 3.0 mA/cm2, as well as a high rate performance (with a deposition overpotential of 338 mV at 25.0 mA/cm2) at a high Li deposition areal capacity of 5.0 mA h cm-2.Crystallization of Al3+-bearing solid phases from highly alkaline Na2OAl2O3H2O solutions commonly necessitates an Al3+ coordination change from tetrahedral to octahedral, but intermediate coordination states are often difficult to isolate. Here, a similar Al3+ coordination change process is examined during the solid-state recrystallization of monosodium aluminate hydrate (MSA) to nonasodium bis(hexahydroxyaluminate) trihydroxide hexahydrate (NSA) at ambient temperature. While the MSA structure contains solely oxolated tetrahedral Al3+, the NSA structure is a molecular aluminate salt solely based upon monomeric octahedral Al3+. Spontaneous recrystallization of MSA and excess sodium hydroxide hydrate into NSA over 3 days of reaction time was clearly evident in X-ray diffractograms and in Raman spectra. In situ single-pulse 27Al magic angle spinning (MAS) nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy and 27Al multiple quantum (MQ) MAS NMR spectroscopy showed no evidence of intermediate aluminates, suggesting that transitional states, such as pentacoordinate Al3+, are short-lived and require spectroscopy with greater time resolution to detect. Such research is advancing upon a detailed mechanistic understanding of Al3+ coordination change mechanisms in these highly alkaline systems, with relevance to aluminum refining, corrosion sciences, and nuclear waste processing.Aim To investigate CD133 expression and its relationship to clinicopathological profile in colorectal cancer (CRC) patients. Methods This cross-sectional study was performed at the Internal Medicine Department, School of Medicine, Adam Malik General Hospital. The colorectal cancer tissue was taken from surgical resection and colonoscopy biopsy from CRC patients. Clinical profile was obtained by a questionnaire. Histopathology examination was done using hematoxylin and eosin staining. Immunohistochemistry (distribution score and intensity score) combined with ROC analysis were conducted to determine CD133 expression. An association between CD133 expression and clinicopathological profile was then analyzed. Results Out of 118 patients, 690 (58.5%) were male. The high and low level of CD133 expression were found in 44 (37.3%) and 74 (62.7%) patients, respectively. No difference between gender, age, body mass index, hemoglobin, leucocytes, platelets, and histopathology with CD133 expression was found. There was a significant difference between CD133 and different CRC locations (p=0.002). CD133 expression was higher in the proximal colon than the rectum (p=0.002), and it was higher in the distal colon than the rectum (p=0.008), especially in terms of percentages of stained cancer cells (distribution score). Conclusion CD133 expression was associated with the tumour location, but not with other clinicopathological factors. Methods A 55-year-old woman suffering from peritoneal metastases from gastric cancer needed to have a port-a-cath implanted for infection removed and to have a central venous catheter (CVC) implanted in the homolateral axillary vein due to patient's history of deep vein thrombosis of the right upper limb. We used PECS 1 block for perioperative analgesia. Results Compared to the traditional catheter implantation technique, reduction in the doses of local anaesthetics, shortening in the execution time, less intra-procedural bleeding, better patient's compliance, and no need for a rescue dose of local anaesthetic were observed. Conclusion The PEC1 block was effectively and safely used to remove an infected port-a-cath and to place a CVC on the same side. We hypothesize that it may be useful also for simple port-acath positioning. Cytokines have the potential to affect cognitive function. The study aimed to find a correlation of TNF-α level with the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) score in patients with schizophrenia (PwS), and comparing the level of TNF-α levels between PwS and healthy controls. Methods We conducted a cross-sectional analytic study and the study designs were correlation and comparative analysis, i.e. using a Mann-Whitney U test. A total number of 100 subjects were collected, and they were divided into two groups of PwS and control group, respectively. Results The results found that most of the PwS subjects were 39 men (78.0%), while the control group were 28 men (56.%). The differences in TNF-α levels between PwS and control groups were found to be significant p less then 0.001, there was no significant correlation between TNF-α level and the score of MMSE of the PwS with p = 0.938, with a very weak correlation that was r = -0.011, and a negative correlation direction. Conclusion There was a significant difference between TNF-α level of PwS and control group, i.e. PwS group had lower TNF-α level compared to the control group. find more The TNF-α level of PwS group had a very weak effect on the cause of cognitive dysfunction in PwS group, yet the higher level of it could reduce MMSE score in PwS group. Methods This cross sectional study included 30 PHN patients attended to the Dermatology and Venereology Department of the School of Medicine of Universitas Sumatera Utara during the period between April 2019 and October 2019. Zoster Brief Pain Inventory questionnaire including the worst pain in 24 hours and the level of interference with seven domains of quality of life (QoL) (general activity, mood, walking ability, working, relationship with other people, sleep and enjoyment of life) were used. Pearson's correlation (r) was categorized as very weak (0.0- less then 0.2), weak (0.2- less then 0.4), moderate (0.4- less then 0.6), strong (0.6- less then 0.8), and very strong (0.8-1.0). Results There was a very strong correlation between worst pain intensity and mood disturbance (r=0.846) and working status (r=0.818). Worst pain intensity had a strong correlation with general activity (r=0.673), relationship with other people (r=0.653), sleep (r=0.774) and disturbance of enjoyment of life (r=0.783). Therefore, the correlation between worst pain intensity and walking ability was moderate (r=0.475). The worst pain intensity had a significant correlation with all seven domains of QoL (p less then 0.05). Conclusion Pain intensity influences the QoL with directly proportional correlation between pain intensity and disturbance of QoL.
