We considered additional surgical treatment, but eventually selected chemotherapy. She died 4 years and 7 months after initial surgery.

Spindle cell sarcoma is a rare disease with a poor prognosis. Although no optimal treatment method has been established, in the present case, incomplete surgical resection and postoperative carbon-ion radiotherapy were performed, yielding a relatively long survival period.

To quantify the increasing variability of Pb and identify the specific origins and their corresponding magnitudes, Pb and Pb isotopes are investigated in a well-placed sediment core covering the period of 1928-2008 in the Central Yellow Sea Mud (CYSM). The concentration of Pb varied from 27.17 μg/g to 37.30 μg/g upwardly along the core, with pronounced anthropogenic disturbance since the late 1960s. The Pb input history of the CYSM experienced five stages according to industrialization levels and Pb contamination, with relative pristine stages from 1928 to 1969 and human activity-impacted stages from 1969 to 2008. The 206Pb/207Pb ratio demonstrated an overall decreasing profile while the 208Pb/206Pb ratio displayed the reverse trend upwardly along the core, possibly due to the atmospheric delivery of anthropogenic Pb emissions from northern China. Furthermore, 208Pb/206Pb vs. 206Pb/207P shift in energy consumption.Quantifying source apportionment of potentially toxic elements (PTEs) in soils and associated human health risk (HHR) is essential for soil environment regulation and pollution risk mitigation. For this purpose, an integrated method was proposed, and applied to a dataset consisting of As, Cd, Cr, Cu, Hg, Ni, Pb, Se, and Zn in 273 soil surface samples. Positive matrix factorization (PMF) was used to quantitatively examine sources contributions of PTEs in soils; and the HHR arising from the identified source was determined by combining source profiles and health risk assessment; at last, sequential Gaussian simulation (SGS) was used to identify the areas with high HHR. Four sources were identified by PMF. Natural and agricultural sources affected all 9 PTEs contents with contributions ranging from 19.2% to 62.9%. 41.9% of Cd, 40.8% of Pb, 58.6% of Se, and 29.8% of Zn were controlled by industrial and traffic emissions. Metals smelting and mining explained 35.5%, 30.5%, and 24.9% of Cr, Cu, and Ni variations, respectively. Hg was dominated by atmospheric deposition from coal combustion and coking (58.7%). The mean values of the total non-carcinogenic risks of PTEs were 1.55 × 10-1 and 9.40 × 10-1 for adults and children, and the total carcinogenic risk of PTEs had an average value of 8.86 × 10-5. Based on source-oriented HHR calculation, natural and agricultural sources were the most important factor influencing HHR, explaining 51.0% and 49.1% of non-carcinogenic risks for children and adults, and 44.2% of carcinogenic risk. SGS indicated that 1.1% of the total area was identified as hazardous areas with non-carcinogens risk for children. The effect of pyrolysis temperature on the generation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in sewage sludge biochar (SSB) and the removal of hazardous chemicals from esturine sediments by SSB and sodium percarbonate (SPC), exemplified by 4-nonylphenol (4-NP) were studied. DDD86481 SSB synthesized at 500 °C (SSB500) achieved the highest 4-NP degradation efficiency of 73%, at pH0 9.0 in 12 h of reaction time. The enhanced 4-NP degradation was attributed to the SSB500 activation activation of SPC that produced sufficient •OH and CO3-• due to electron-transfer interaction on the Fe-Mn redox pairs. The microbial community diversity and composition of the treated sediment were compared using high-throughput sequencing. Results showed SSB/SPC treatment increased the microbial diversity and richness in the sediments. Proteobacteria were the keystone phylum, while Thioalkalispira genera were responsible for 4-NP degradation in the SSB/SPC treatment. Over all, results revealed the change in the bacterial community during the environmental applications of SSB, which provided essential information for better understanding of the monitoring and improvement of sustainable sediment ecosystems.

The Embedded Healthcare Research Conference aimed to promote and enhance research-operations partnerships in diverse health care settings. Within this conference, the Priorities and Methods Workgroup set out to define a vision of embedded research that leverages diverse methods to address clearly articulated research questions of importance to health systems.

The Workgroup session involved a combination of small and large group discussions around three broadly focused topics the integration of embedded research within the existing quality improvement (QI) ecosystem; the identification, prioritization and formulation of embedded research questions; the creation of an embedded research "tool kit."

Workgroup participants envisioned a future for embedded research that is characterized by authentic engagement between researchers and health system leaders; seamless integration between research, QI and clinical operations; clear and explicit articulation of research questions; an appropriate balance between rilationships, discouraging silos, encouraging innovation and experimentation, and expanding opportunities for funding research in delivery systems.Color-motion asynchrony (CMA) refers to an apparent lag of direction of motion when a dynamic stimulus changes both color and direction at the same time. The subjective order of simultaneous events, however, is not only perceptual but also subject to illusions during voluntary actions. Self-initiated actions, for example, seem to precede their sensory outcomes following an adaptation to a delay between the action and the sensory feedback. Here, we demonstrate that the extent of the apparent asynchrony can be substantially reduced when direction change is induced by a voluntary key press following a delay adaptation regime. We also show that the reduced color-motion asynchrony effect size following a motor-sensory recalibration is not a result of a change in the onset of perceived direction change relative to that of the color. This is particularly important as it implies, for the first time in the literature, that voluntary action is not only important in forming action-sensory outcome associations but may also act as a binding factor between the two perceptual features of a sensory event.
