Sixty-five of eighty-eight patients (mean age, 33.8±12.8 years; 47.7% of females) were finally diagnosed as ITB (4-caseating granuloma on biopsy, 12-necrotic LNs on CT enterography, 1-both, and 48-response to anti-tubercular therapy) and 23 were diagnosed as Crohn's disease. Findings of active TB on CECT chest with or without necrotic abdominal LNs were demonstrated in 5 and 20 patients, respectively. No patient with Crohn's disease had necrotic abdominal LNs or active PTB. Addition of CECT chest in the diagnostic algorithm improved the sensitivity of ITB diagnosis from 26.2% to 56.9%.

Addition of CECT chest significantly improves the sensitivity for definite diagnosis in a patient with suspected ITB.

Symptomatic disk degeneration is characterized by early pathological changes in the morphological, biochemical, and biomechanical properties of the intervertebral disc (IVD). Several methods that can be used to resolve this condition are being researched.

The present study was designed to examine the preventive and restorative properties of broccoli sprouts extracts in an annular puncture rabbit model of IVD degeneration.

IVD degeneration is closely associated with low back pain. A degenerated IVD is cytoarchitecturally characterized by a reduction in cell number, morphological changes in the disk tissue, and changes in the extracellular matrix contents. Methods, such as imaging and biochemical characterization, have been used for distinguishing between degenerated disk and non-degenerated disk.

Twenty New Zealand white rabbits (weighing approximately 2.0-3.5 kg) were divided into four groups (n=5). Group 1 received 50 mg/kg of normal saline solution orally for 4 weeks; group 2 received 50 mg/kg of noroccoli sprouts exerts preventive and restorative effects in a rabbit model with disk degeneration.

To translate and culturally adapt the original English version of the 24-item Early-Onset Scoliosis Questionnaire (EOSQ-24) to the Persian language as well as assess its reliability and validity.

Early-onset scoliosis (EOS) patients with progressive curves require active treatments, such as serial elongation- derotation-flexion casting, bracing, and surgery, which are stressful and expensive. In order to evaluate the impact of EOS and its treatment strategies, it is important to consider the patients and their parents' quality of life as the clinical and radiological parameters. The EOSQ-24 is a parent-based measure that evaluates the health-related quality of life of patients with EOS and their caregivers/parents. Similar to other widely used questionnaires, EOSQ-24 needs to be translated into other languages to make it usable in populations from different cultures and societies.

We evaluated the translation and back translation of the EOSQ-24 and made the required revisions astries and regions of the world needs to be investigated further.

The Persian EOSQ-24 can serve as a disease-specific instrument with strong validity and reliability in the evaluation of EOS patients. Its applicability in other Persian-speaking countries and regions of the world needs to be investigated further.

Retrospective study.

The purpose of this study was to compare the accuracy of percutaneous pedicle screw (PPS) placement between prone and lateral decubitus positions during lateral lumbar interbody fusion (LLIF) and to evaluate the tendency of PPS positioning based on simple computed tomography measurements with patients in the lateral decubitus position.

There is insufficient information in the literature regarding the accuracy of inserting a PPS using fluoroscopy in patients in the lateral decubitus position.

We included 62 patients who underwent combined LLIF surgery and PPS fixation for degenerative lumbar spondylolisthesis with spinal canal stenosis. We compared the patient demographics and the accuracy of fluoroscopy-guided PPS placement between two groups patients who remained in the lateral decubitus position for the pedicle screw fixation (single-position surgery [SPS] group) and those who were turned to the prone position (dual-position surgery [DPS] group).

There were 40 patients in the a misplacement rate similar to that previously published.

The purpose of this paper is to argue for an improved conceptualisation of health service research, using Stengers' (2018) metaphor of "slow science" as a critical yardstick.

The paper is structured in three parts. It first reviews the field of health services research and the approaches that dominate it. It then considers the healthcare research approaches whose principles and methodologies are more aligned with "slow science" before presenting a description of a "slow science" project in which the authors are currently engaged.

Current approaches to health service research struggle to offer adequate resources for resolving frontline complexity, principally because they set more store by knowledge generalisation, disciplinary continuity and integrity and the consolidation of expertise, than by engaging with frontline complexity on its terms, negotiating issues with frontline staff and patients on their terms and framing findings and solutions in ways that key in to the

dynamics and complexities thatow research can be flexibly produced to improve health services.

Despite the increased popularity of endocrowns, there is no clear consensus considering their effectiveness to restore severely-destructed endodontically treated premolars. This study aimed to assess the biomechanical behavior of endodontically treated maxillary first premolars restored with a novel endocrown system compared to the conventional one.

Twenty sound human maxillary first premolars were collected. After endodontic treatment, they were divided into 2 groups (n=10) according to the system used for endocrown fabrication. Group C (Control) conventional monolithic IPS e.max CAD endocrowns. Group P novel bi-layered endocrowns (Pekkton ivory coping veneered with cemented IPS e.max CAD). All specimens were subjected to 10000 thermal cycles followed by 240000 dynamic load cycles. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/emd-1214063.html Surviving specimens were subjected to fracture resistance test followed by qualitative analysis using Stereomicroscopy and Scanning Electron Microscopy.

A significantly higher load was observed for Group P (1831.37 ± 240.69 N) than Group C (1433.
