Very scarce studies investigated the prevalence of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and its correlates in the Middle East, particularly in college students. We aimed to investigate the prevalence of IBS and its associated factors among Jordanian medical students. We conducted a cross-sectional study at 2 medical facilities in northern Jordan. We recruited 1135 medical students. Participants completed an anonymous questionnaire addressing sociodemographic, lifestyle, and clinical characteristics. An interview questionnaire was used to diagnose IBS according to the Rome III criteria. GKT137831 Comorbid anxiety and depression were diagnosed by using the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale. Of the 1135 completed questionnaires, 1094 (94%) had complete data. The prevalence of IBS in our sample was 30.9%. Binary logistic regression analysis of factors associated with IBS indicated having a family history of IBS as a strong predictor of the disease (odds ratio [OR] 8.09; 95% confidence interval [CI] 5.84-11.19). Students in the second and third years of their study had ORs of approximately 4 (95% CI 2.20-6.54) and 3 (95% CI 1.70-5.30) for suffering from IBS, respectively, compared with those in the first year (P = .001). Increased anxiety score (OR 1.88; 95% CI 1.30-2.71), poor sleep quality (OR 1.76; 95% CI 1.13-2.76), female sex (OR 1.59; 95% CI 1.14-2.20), and living in a school dormitory (OR 1.35; 95% CI 1.00-1.84) were significantly associated with IBS (P less then .05). IBS is a highly prevalent disorder among Jordanian medical students, with several factors associated with its occurrence.Changes in the ST-segment in aVR of electrocardiogram have been used to predict the morbidity of left main and/or 3-vessel disease (LM/3-VD) in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). However, the association with patient prognosis has rarely been reported. A total of 274 patients diagnosed with ACS were retrospectively evaluated following allocation into 1 of 3 groups the ST-segment elevation (STE) group ≥ 0.05 mV, ST-segment depression (STD) group ≥ 0.05 mV, and the Isoelectric group in aVR. A comparison of clinical characteristics, coronary angiography results, major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE), and GRACE risk score was made. Patients in the STE and STD groups were older and had a lower LVEF, a greater number of MACE and higher GRACE risk score, compared with patients in the isoelectric group. Patients in the STE group had significantly greater morbidity due to LM/3-VD than did the non-STE groups. In addition, as the amplitude of STE in aVR increased, the number of MACE, GRACE risk score, and the incidence of LM/3-VD increased. Furthermore, after adjusting for other clinical factors, multivariate statistical results indicated that STE ≥ 0.05 mV in aVR was the only predictor of LM/3-VD, whereas STD ≥ 0.05 mV was not. It was found that STE or STD ≥ 0.05 mV in aVR was an independent predictor of MACE. STE ≥ 0.05 mV in aVR is associated with LM/3-VD. Furthermore, ST-segment deviation in aVR may have prognostic value of MACE and associated with higher GRACE risk scores in patients with ACS.This study aimed to analyze trends in the prevalence, awareness, treatment, and control of hypertension and associated factors in persons 15 years and older from 2005 to 2019 in Mongolia. National data were analyzed from 21,342 people (≥15 years) who participated in 4 cross-sectional STEPwise Approach to NCD Risk Factor Surveillance surveys in Mongolia (2005, 2009, 2013, or 2019) and had complete blood pressure measurements. The prevalence, awareness, treatment, and control of hypertension were calculated using sociodemographic factors within each study year. Logistic regression was employed to assess the associations between sociodemographic and health factors and status of hypertension, awareness, treatment, and control by study year and pooled sample. Trend analyzes showed that the prevalence of hypertension decreased significantly from 28.4% in 2005 to 23.2% in 2019 (P less then .001). The prevalence of awareness among hypertensives remained unchanged, the treatment among aware decreased, and the control rate increased. In adjusted logistic regression analysis with the pooled sample, male sex (adjusted odds ratio [AOR] 1.49, 95% confidence intervals [CI] 1.32-1.68), older age (≥45 years) (AOR 5.90, 95% CI 4.90-7.10), obesity (AOR 4.29, 95% CI 3.77-4.88), more frequent alcohol use (≥1-2 days/week) (AOR 1.69, 95% CI 1.39-2.05) were positively, and higher educational level (≥12 years) (AOR 0.77, 95% CI 0.68-0.87) and urban residence (AOR 0.84, 95% CI 0.74-0.97) were negatively associated with hypertension prevalence. The prevalence of hypertension among Mongolian adults has decreased in recent years. Levels of hypertension awareness were unchanged, treatment decreased, and control increased. Increased health promotion, detection, and treatment of hypertension in Mongolia are indicated.Oxycodone hydrochloride injection could be safely and effectively applied to negative pressure aspiration, and a 0.08 mg/kg dose could significantly reduce postoperative uterine contraction pain of patients with dysmenorrhea.
Endometrial scratching (ES) has demonstrated initial success in women with recurrent implantation failure, but the effect in women with 1 previous assisted reproductive technology (ART) failure is unknown. This meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the impact of ES as a treatment in clinical outcomes for women with at least 1 failed in vitro fertilization (IVF)/intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI)/Intrauterine Insemination (IUI).
PubMed, Medline, Embase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, CNKI, and EMCC databases were searched for randomized controlled trial studies utilizing endometrial scratching for infertility women with at least 1 failed assisted reproductive technology (ART) to collect pregnancy outcomes, including clinical pregnancy rate (CPR), embryo implantation rate (IR), miscarriage rate (MR), live birth rate (LBR), and multiple pregnancy rate (MPR).
Sixteen randomized controlled trial (RCT) studies were included in this meta-analysis, including 1770 women in the intervention group and 1934 womenhance the reproductive outcomes of embryo implantation. Additional randomized controlled studies are recommended to identify the appropriate time of invasion and the applicable population to confirm whether it can become a routine operation.3-dimention (3D) Cube isotropic volumetric magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) facilitates comprehensive recognition of microinfarcts while it takes long scanning time. HyperSense compressed sensing is an emerging technique for accelerating MRI acquisition to reduce scanning time, while its application along with 3D Cube MRI for microinfarcts is seldom reported. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the efficiency of 3D Cube FLAIR plus HyperSense compressed sensing technique versus conventional 2-dimention (2D) FLAIR scanning in the detection of cortical microinfarcts (CMIs). Totally 59 patients with cerebrovascular disease were enrolled then scanned by 3D Cube FLAIR plus HyperSense compressed sensing and 2D T2WI FLAIR sequences. The image quality scores, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) for gray matter (GM), SNR for white matter (WM), their contrast-to-noise ratio (WM-to-GM CNR), detected number of CMIs were evaluated. 3D Cube FLAIR plus HyperSense showed a dramatically increased scores of uniformity, artifact, degree of lesion displacement, and overall image quality compared to 2D T2WI FLAIR. Meanwhile, it exhibited similar SNRwm and SNRgm, but a higher WM-to-GM contrast-to-noise ratio compared with 2D T2WI FLAIR. Furthermore, the scanning time of 3D Cube FLAIR plus HyperSense and 2D T2WI FLAIR were both set as 2.5 minutes. Encouragingly, 244 CMIs were detected by 3D Cube FLAIR plus HyperSense, which was higher compared to 2D T2WI FLAIR (106 detected CMIs). 3D Cube FLAIR plus HyperSense compressed sensing is superior to 2D T2WI FLAIR scanning regarding image quality, spatial resolution, detection rate for CMIs; meanwhile, it does not increase the scanning time. These findings may contribute to early detection and treatment of stroke.During the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic, we considered the case of a child with developmental language disorder (DLD) who could not go to the hospital on time to receive timely rehabilitation treatment due to disrupted hospital operations. The application of cloud-based rehabilitation platforms has provided significant advantages and convenience for children with DLD in-home remote rehabilitation. Among them, the JingYun Rehab Cloud Platform is the most widely used in mainland China.
