Best All Terrain Stroller

All terrain strollers are the best option for those who enjoy running through rocky trails or strolling through parks with grassy areas. You'll need large, sturdy tires that have suspension to cope with the rough terrain.

All strollers with terrain are designed to help you to instill a love for the outdoors in your child at an early age. We look at the ease of use and maneuverability. This includes the ability to open the basket, engage the brakes, and insert and remove a baby seat (where applicable).

The Best Overall Stroller

If you are planning to use a stroller to carry your child for a long time, it should be more than just a means of getting them from A to B. Strollers multiply like rabbits, and having one that can manage all of your family's trips is a smart investment.

The Nuna MIXX Next can do all of that and more. It can be used from birth, thanks to its baby-friendly flat recline. It also comes with a compact fold-down for storage that is easy to carry and it rolls smoothly over sidewalks, grass and cobblestone. The light PIPA Urbn car seat is also available as a bundle for a complete travel solution. It's more expensive than our other picks but our test-driver said it was worth the price since it's sturdy and can easily take on even the most difficult of trips.

For a lightweight stroller that can handle more rugged terrain, look for a three-wheeler. The Thule Shine was a previous winner of this category. It's a bit more costly than our other choices, but it feels solid, and comes with a variety of features (car seat compatible! dual cup holders!) that makes it a worthy investment. Plus, it folds small enough to fit in an overhead bin of an airplane making it an ideal choice for families who do lots of traveling.

Senior Review Editor Wendy Schmitz has been reviewing strollers and other baby gear for over two years. She and the rest of our product testing team test each stroller by running, pushing forward, folding and lifting them to assess their efficiency, comfort and usefulness. They're all moms too, so they know how important a quality stroller is for everyday life and for family outings. This year we expanded our testing pool to include five parenting experts as well as stroller experts. They included Lisa Trofe (executive director of the Juvenile Product Manufacturers Association), Kyleyn Gosewisch (customer care specialist at the strolleria), Marielle Marquez (pediatric occupational therapist), Holly Choi (cofounder and coowner of Safe Beginnings First Aid), Holly Choi and Sarah Huff.

The BOB Sport Utility

The BOB Sport Utility is the ideal stroller for parents who want to step off the beaten track and get some exercise. This jogging stroller features pneumatic knobby tires that are great for trail runs, and a hand brake that lets you control the downhills. It also features a state-of the-art suspension system and a two-step folding design and a massive cargo basket. If you buy the correct adapters, you can use it with a child car seat.

The biggest drawback to this stroller for jogging is its weight and size when folded. It weighs 25lbs and folds down to 17,850 cubic inches, which is around average for this class of strollers. The size of its footprint makes it unsuitable for tight turns and small trunk space. However, it has a small handle on the back of the storage bin that can be pulled to collapse the stroller into a compact, flat position.

This stroller is easy to maneuver, despite its size. The front wheel features a locking mechanism that lets you change it from normal to locked running mode, and the handlebar is adjustable in height for different parent heights. It also has a wide seat that reclines to almost flat, and it has an enormous vinyl peek-aboo window that's easy to open and close.

The Sport Utility also scored a 9/10 for its exceptional quality. It is built with a strong aluminum frame that has tight connections and no rough edges or weak stitching. It also has adjustable dampers, which aid in smoothness of the rolling.

As with the other BOB strollers reviewed in this review the Sport Utility has optional car seat adapters that let you use it with a variety of infant car seats. In our tests, it took about 5:24 minutes to put together the stroller from packing it up to being ready to run. The assembly was simple however, you'll need a Philips screwdriver. The included manual is clear and well-organized. However, it's an excellent idea to have one on hand in the case.

The Baby Trend Expedition

This jogger was designed with safety, style and ease of use as its primary goals. It comes with a parent tray that includes two cup holders and covered storage, as well as an infant tray that can be swung away and has two cup holders. The adjustable canopy, with its peek-aboo windows and a wide ergonomically-designed handle, offer comfort to both parents. The lockable front swivel wheel can be locked for jogging and unlocked to stroll. The large storage basket is perfect to store the essential travel items.

In the Strollers test program from Consumer Reports, the Baby Trend Expedition jogger performs well overall for the price, and is rated higher than its competition in several categories. This includes the ease of using the 5-point harness folding and unfolding, adjusting the backrest, engaging the wheel brakes and removing the infant car seat and installation (only for compatible models). It's a basic design and a one-handed recline that is deep enough for napping. The canopy cover with the ratcheting mechanism can be difficult. It also takes nearly 8 minutes to set up and the directions are confusing, with several languages mashed together and hard-to-understand illustrations.

The only negative about this jogger is that it does not have suspension, so the ride may be bumpier than the other all-terrain strollers we've tested. This can be uncomfortable for children who are younger especially when their nap is about to begin. The air-filled wheels are nice however they don't offer as much cushioning as the rubber tires found on more expensive strollers.

This is an excellent option for those who don't run frequently but want to be able to easily move across grass or gravel without having to worry about obstacles like curbs or other obstructions. It's also a great option for families with limited space since it folds into a compact size. It's lighter than many of the other joggers we've tried and fits in places that other strollers don't.

Another benefit is that it's more easy to carry and lift than the bulkier joggers we've tried. This is particularly crucial if you need to lift it in and out of the trunk of your car regularly or if you're constantly on the go.

The Nipper Sport V4

Nipper Sport V4 is the best jogger on all terrain. The latest version of Out 'n' Around's 3-wheeled running stroller is specifically made for jogging and comes with large pneumatic alloy tyres with a 16-inch diameter capable of tackling even the roughest paths and tracks. The Nipper is lightweight and compact which makes it easy to transport and fold.

This pushchair is equipped with an adjustable handlebar and front suspension, which makes it suitable for all terrains. It has an adjustable quilted liner that can be removed and a multi-position recline, along with a 5-point safety harness that is padded and a hinged bar. It's also compatible with travel systems that allows you to use it with a Cybex Maxi-Cosi, Maxi-Cosi, or Be-Safe infant car seat.

The buggy also features an enormous front wheel that ensures an easy ride for the child. This is essential, especially when you're dealing with difficult terrain. It allows the buggy track better and glide easier over dips and bumps. Nipper Sport is easy to drive and comes with a single pedal brake. The handlebar is ergonomically designed and has one pedal that is easy-lock and a movable steering. The buggy folds up very easily, thanks to the clear instructions and illustrations in the user guide.

best all.terrain pram is suitable for children up to the age of six months. It can be used with a newborn thanks to its infant insert built-in. However, it is not recommended for use with infants under six months since the harness of the seat isn't tight enough to safely keep them.

Another problem with this pushchair is the lack of a storage basket under the seat. The small shopping bag that is located at the back of the seat is not large enough to hold a large changing pouch. It is easy to open and close. Only two hand-holds are required to release the plastic catch on either side of the lower frame. The red handlebar comes with another lock that can be opened by using only one hand.
