Previous research has found a relationship between problematic mobile phone use (PMPU) and suicidality. However, few studies have examined the interaction effects between low physical activity (PA) and PMPU on suicidality among college students. This study aimed to examine the interactions of PA and PMPU and their impact on suicidality in a school-based sample among Chinese college students.

Analysis is based on date from two university in China, which recruited 4787 participants. Binomial logistic regression models were used to explore the associations of PA, PMPU with suicidal ideation and suicide attempt, as well as the interaction of PA and PMPU with suicidality.

The prevalence of suicide attempt and suicidal ideation were 3.5 and 7.2%, respectively. Low PA was significantly associated with suicide attempt (OR = 3.48, 95%CI 2.52-4.81) and suicidal ideation (OR = 1.90, 95%CI 1.46-2.46). PMPU was significantly associated with suicide attempt (OR = 3.65, 95%CI 2.66-5.01) and suicidal ideation (OR = 2.83, 95%CI 2.25-3.54). Interaction analysis indicated that low PA and PMPU were interactively associated with suicide attempt (OR = 9.51, 95%CI 6.15-14.73, P < 0.001), RERI = 4.85(1.20-8.50), AP = 0.51(0.29-0.73), SI = 2.32(1.34-4.04). There was no additive interaction effects between PA and PMPU on suicidal ideation.

Perfluorocarbon liquid (PFCL) is an effective surgical adjuvant in performing vitrectomy for severe vitreoretinal pathologies such as proliferative vitreoretinopathy and giant retinal tears. However, subretinal retention of PFCL can occur postoperatively and retained PFCL causes severe visual disorders, particularly when PFCL was retained under the fovea. Although several procedures have been proposed for subfoveal PFCL removal, such as direct aspiration or submacular injection of balanced salt solution (BSS) to dislodge the subfoveal PFCL, the retinal damage associated with these procedures has been a major problem. Here, we report a case of subfoveal retention of PFCL for which we performed a novel surgical technique that attempts to minimize retinal damage.

A 69-year-old man presented with subfoveal retained PFCL after surgery for retinal detachment. During 2013 and 2016 the region of Skåne, Sweden started to analyse human papillomavirus (HPV) and cytology in postmenopausal women 60-65 years of age. Our aim was to evaluate high-risk (HR) HPV mRNA testing for the triage of HPV DNA-positive postmenopausal women with normal cytology.

A total of 271 women, 60-65 years of age, underwent liquid-based cytology (LBC) and HPV testing by using the HR-HPV DNA MGP-PCR-Luminex assay. HR-HPV DNA-positive women with normal cytology underwent complimentary HPV mRNA testing (Aptima, Hologic Inc.). Over a period of 49 months (SD 11.0) the women received regular follow-ups at intervals of 12-18 months. Women with abnormal cytology and/or a positive HR-HPV DNA and/or mRNA result at two subsequent visits were scheduled for colposcopy and clinical examination.

Over the surveillance period, 3.6% (10/271) of the HR-HPV DNA-positive women developed histologically confirmed high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (HSILs) or worse. Drought stress is the most harmful one among other abiotic stresses with negative impacts on crop growth and development. Drought-hardening is a feasible and widely used method in tobacco seedlings cultivation. It has gained extensive interests due to its role in improving drought tolerance. This research aimed to investigate the role of drought-hardening and to unravel the multiple mechanisms underlying tobacco drought tolerance and adaptation.

This study was designed in which various drought-hardening treatments (CK (no drought-hardening), T1 (drought-hardening for 24 h), T2 (drought-hardening for 48 h), and T3 (drought-hardening for 72 h)) were applied to two tobacco varieties namely HongHuaDaJinYuan (H) and Yun Yan-100 (Y). The findings presented a complete framework of drought-hardening effect at physiological, biochemical, and gene expression levels of the two tobacco varieties under drought stress. The results showed that T2 and T3 significantly reduced the growth of the two varieties under droughthanisms of other plant species. Drought-hardening improved drought tolerance and adaptation of the two tobacco varieties. T1 indicates drought-hardening for 24 h, T2 indicates drought-hardening for 48 h, T3 indicates drought-hardening for 72 h.

High throughput microfluidic protocols in single cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) collect mRNA counts from up to one million individual cells in a single experiment; this enables high resolution studies of rare cell types and cell development pathways. Determining small sets of genetic markers that can identify specific cell populations is thus one of the major objectives of computational analysis of mRNA counts data. Many tools have been developed for marker selection on single cell data; most of them, however, are based on complex statistical models and handle the multi-class case in an ad-hoc manner.

We introduce RANKCORR, a fast method with strong mathematical underpinnings that performs multi-class marker selection in an informed manner. RANKCORR proceeds by ranking the mRNA counts data before linearly separating the ranked data using a small number of genes. The step of ranking is intuitively natural for scRNA-seq data and provides a non-parametric method for analyzing count data. In addition, we present several performance measures for evaluating the quality of a set of markers when there is no known ground truth.
