Emergency medicine (EM) is no exception. Since its origins over 50 year ago, EM has struggled to fulfill its research mission. EM ranks last among clinical specialties in the percent of medical school faculty who are NIH-funded principal investigators (PIs) (1.7%) and percent of medical school departments with NIH-funded PIs (33%). Although there has been a steady increase in the number of NIH-funded projects and total NIH dollars, the slowing growth in the number of NIH-funded PIs and lack of growth in the number of EM departments with NIH-funded PIs is cause for concern. In response, the AACEM Research Task Force proposes a set of 2030 strategic goals for the EM research enterprise that are based on sustaining historic growth rates in NIH-funding. These goals have been endorsed by the AACEM Executive committee and the Boards of SAEM, ACEP, and AAEM. The 2030 strategic goals include 200 NIH-funded projects led by 150 EM PIs in at least 50 EM Depts with over $100M in annual funding resulting in over 3% of EM faculty being NIH-funded PIs. Achieving these goals will require a targeted series of focused strategies to increase the number of EM faculty who are competitive for NIH funding. This requires a coordinated, intentional effort with investments at the national, departmental, and individual levels. These efforts are ideally led by medical school department chairs, who can create the culture and provide the resources needed to be successful. Based on the diameter values, the long/short diameter ratio was calculated and each root canal was classified regarding its shape. Oval-shaped canals were present in 45% at the apical, 50% at the medial and 56% at the coronal level of all teeth. The mandibular central incisors presented oval canals in 24%, long oval in 28% and flat in 2% at the apical level. Mandibular molars showed a statistically significant difference (P less then 0.05) in the distribution of oval-shaped canals between cross-sectional levels. An estimated 292 million people were living with chronic HBV globally in 2018 with approximately 2.4 million of those residing within the United States (US). This study is one of the first of its kind that aims to explore the treatment preferences for those living with chronic HBV through qualitative interviews. Participant data were collected by in-depth telephone interviews using a semi-structured discussion guide. A codebook guided the organization of data, and codes were developed by review of the literature (a priori) and through line-by-line reading of a subsample of queries. Here, we report a novel function of BIG3-PHB2 in OS malignancy. BIG3-PHB2 complexes were localized mainly in mitochondria in OS cells, unlike in estrogen-dependent breast cancer cells. Depletion of endogenous BIG3 expression by small interfering RNA (siRNA) treatment led to significant inhibition of OS cell growth. Disruption of BIG3-PHB2 complex formation by treatment with specific peptide inhibitor also resulted in significant dose-dependent suppression of OS cell growth, migration, and invasion resulting from G2/M-phase arrest and in PARP cleavage, ultimately leading to PARP-1/apoptosis-inducing factor (AIF) pathway activation-dependent apoptosis in OS cells. Subsequent proteomic and bioinformatic pathway analyses revealed that disruption of the BIG3-PHB2 complex might lead to downregulation of inner mitochondrial membrane protein complex activity. Alterations in edaphic properties and microbial attributes induced by land use change can individually/interactively contribute to GHG emissions, but how they predictably affect soil CO2 , CH4 , and N2 O emissions remain unclear. Here, we investigated the direct and indirect controls of edaphic properties (i.e., dissolved organic carbon [DOC], soil organic C, total nitrogen, CN ratio, NH 4 + -N, NO 3 - -N, soil temperature [ST], soil moisture [SM], pH, and bulk density [BD]) and microbial attributes (i.e., total phospholipid fatty acids [PLFAs], 181ω7c, nitrifying genes [ammonia-oxidizing archaea, ammonia-oxidizing bacteria], and denitrifying genes [nirS, nirK, and nosZ]) over the annual soil CO2 , CH4 , and N2 O emissions from the woodland, shrubland, and abandoned land in subtropical China. Soil CO2 and N2 O emissions were higher in the afforested lands (woodland and shrubland) than in the abandoned land, but the annual cumulative CH4 uptake did not significantly differ among all land use types. The CO2 emission was positively associated with microbial activities (e.g., total PLFAs), while the CH4 uptake was tightly correlated with soil environments (i.e., ST and SM) and chemical properties (i.e., DOC, CN ratio, and NH 4 + -N concentration), but not significantly related to the methanotrophic bacteria (i.e., 181ω7c). Whereas, soil N2 O emission was positively associated with nitrifying genes, but negatively correlated with denitrifying genes especially nosZ. Overall, our results suggested that soil CO2 and N2 O emissions were directly dependent on microbial attributes, and soil CH4 uptake was more directly related to edaphic properties rather than microbial attributes. Thus, different patterns of soil CO2 , CH4 , and N2 O emissions and associated controls following land use change provided novel insights into predicting the effects of afforestation on climate change mitigation outcomes.

COVID-19 has highlighted differences in our engagement in health prevention behaviors. The Health Belief Model (HBM), personality traits (conscientiousness, extraversion, and neuroticism), and sociodemographic variables were used to evaluate social distancing during the first month of a state-mandated Stay At Home (SAH) order.

A web-based convenience sample of 645 Ohioans was surveyed. Hierarchical linear regression and mediation analysis were used to examine predictors of social distancing attitudes and behaviors and whether health beliefs mediated the relationship between personality and social distancing.

Most respondents agreed with and adhered to social distancing guidelines. HBM constructs were strong predictors of SAH attitudes, while personality accounted for little additional variance. Anxiety was indirectly related to overall social distancing attitudes and behavior through its relationship with health beliefs. However, violations of social distancing were best explained by situational factors (e.g., being an essential worker).

The results demonstrate the power of components of the HBM to explain attitudes and behaviors regarding the SAH order beyond any contribution from personality. By examining the role of personality and health beliefs on social distancing attitudes and behaviors, this research will benefit public health nurses and others tasked with communicating and promoting preventative health behavior.

Erenumab is a human anti-calcitonin gene-related peptide receptor monoclonal antibody approved for migraine prevention. We sought to further assess the temporal patterns of response to erenumab in patients with chronic migraine (CM), specifically the onset and sustainability of monthly migraine day (MMD) response.

This is a post hoc analysis of a 12-week, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study of erenumab for migraine prevention in patients with CM (≥15headache days/month, including ≥8migraine days/month). Onset and sustainability were assessed according to MMD reduction from baseline, with the following response categories responders (≥50% reduction), partial responders (≥30% and <50%), or nonresponders (<30%).

Among the erenumab 140mg group (n=187), 54.0% (101/187) achieved a response at any month during the study with a median time to onset of monthly response of 1month. This improvement was maintained in most patients with continued treatment. An initial response was achieved at Month 1 by 28.3% (53/187) of patients; 69.8% (37/53) of whom maintained a response at Months 2 and 3. Although many patients responded early, some patients required longer treatment to achieve a response; 79.4% (27/34) of initial partial responders and 21.0% (21/100) of initial nonresponders subsequently achieved a response. Similar findings were observed for the erenumab 70mg group (n=188).

A majority of erenumab-treated patients with CM who achieved an initial response at Month 1 sustained this benefit. Many patients responded later with continued treatment. Our data support recommendations to assess outcomes after ≥3months of preventive treatment with erenumab in CM.
