Results The stroboscopic light altered the postural control. The swivel chair disturbed only with CE. Ice and alcohol increased the oscillation area. The alcohol test had a significant reduction in postural control with OE compared to CE. The rubber cushion increased the oscillation area in all OE tests and with CE in alcohol and ice tests. Conclusion The different agents did not trigger postural control deficits in the same way. A cold environment with psychedelic lights and the use of alcoholic beverages altered significantly the postural stability by influencing simultaneously all perceptions (visual, vestibular and somatosensory feedback).Aim To evaluate the case series of the patients operated with percutaneous fixation by the navigation system based on 3D fluoroscopic images, to assess the precision of a surgical implant and functional outcome of patients. Methods A retrospective study of pelvic ring fractures in a 2-year period included those treated with the use of the O-Arm 2 in combination with the Stealth Station 8. Pelvic fractures were classified according to the Tile and the Young-Burgess classification. All patients were examined before surgery, with X-rays and CT scans, and three days after surgery with additional CT scan. The positioning of the screws was evaluated according to the Smith score, the outcome with the SF-36. Results Among 24 patients 18 were with B and six with C type fracture according to Tile, while eight were with APC, 10 LC, and six with VS type according to Young-Burgess classification. All patients were treated in the supine position, except two. A total of 41 iliosacral or transsacral screws and five anterior pelvic ring screws were implanted. The medium surgical time per screw was 41 minutes. There was a perfect correspondence of screw scores value from post-operative CT and intraoperative fluoroscopy. The mean screw score value was 0.92. There were no cases of poor positioning. The median follow-up was 17.5 months. Kaempferide The patients were satisfied with their health condition on SF-36. Conclusion The use of the O-arm guarantees great precision in the positioning of the screws and reduced surgical times with excellent clinical results in patients.Aim To report clinical, functional and radiographic results of oneincision distal biceps tendon repair with Toggle Loc (Zimmer-Biomet, Warsaw, Indiana, USA) at an average 4-year follow-up and to assess posterior interosseous nerve injury complications after reconstruction. Methods We conducted a retrospective review of 58 consecutive distal biceps tendon repairs performed at our department between 2010 and 2018. Disabilities of Arm, Shoulder and Hand (DASH) score, Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) scale and elbow range of motion (ROM) were recorded at each follow-up and an ultrasound examination was also performed to assess the repaired biceps brachii tendon. Results Clinical evaluation showed good and excellent results at medium- and long-term follow-up. A temporary posterior interosseous nerve (PIN) palsy developed in four (6.81%) patients and always resolved in 8 weeks. PIN palsy prevalence is in accordance with the results of the previous studies. Conclusion Distal biceps tendon repair with Toggle Loc is an effective surgical procedure. PIN injury is a relatively rare complication after one-incision anterior repair. Our complication rate did not differ significantly from other studies that have used cortical button fixation, reported in current literature. Our results confirm that accidental injury of PIN may also happen to experienced surgeons and suggest extreme care and an appropriate surgical technique to reduce this iatrogenic risk. This study aimed to detect the expression of Wnt-induced secreted protein-1 (WISP-1) in renal fibrosis (RF) and to clarify the underlying mechanism. An in vivo mousee model of unilateral ureteral obstruction (UUO) and in vitro model of fibrosis on renal tubular epithelial NRK52E cells after transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1) stimulation were used. Quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR), Western blot (WB), and immunohistochemistry were used to detect WISP-1 and fibrosis markers, including the expression of fibronectin (FN), collagen I (Col I), collagen IV (Col IV), and α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA). In vitro experiments showed that the expression of WISP-1 and fibrosis markers FN, Col I, Col IV, and α-SMA in rat renal tubular epithelial cells were significantly higher than that in the control group after 48 h of TGF-β1 stimulation. In vivo experiments showed that the expressions of WISP-1 and fibrosis markers FN, Col I, Col IV, and α-SMA in the obstructed kidney of UUO animal models were significantly increased in mRNA and protein levels compared to normal mice. This study showed that WISP-1 may be an essential cytokine that promotes renal fibrosis, being involved in the development of renal fibrosis. This study aimed at probing into the function of muscone in ameliorating myocardial ischemiareperfusion (I/R) injury and exploring the underlying mechanism. To analyze the function of muscone, H9c2 cardiomyocytes were treated with hypoxia/reoxygenation (H/R) and Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were treated with left anterior descending (LAD) of the coronary artery ligation for 30 min and reperfusion for 2 h to induce myocardial I/R injury. Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) and Western blot were used to detect the expression of SIRT3. MTT assay and TUNEL assay were performed to investigate H9c2 viability and apoptosis, respectively. ELISA was employed to determine the expressions of inflammatory cytokines TNF-α, IL-6 and IL-1β, and myocardial injury markers CK and LDH. Oxidative stress markers MDA and SOD, and ROS expression levels were also detected. SIRT3 inhibitor 3-TYP was used to further confirm whether muscone worked via the augmentation of SIRT3. Herein, we found that muscone significantly inhibited inflammation and oxidative stress in H9c2 cardiomyocytes in a dose-dependent manner. H9c2 viability was promoted by muscone while apoptosis was inhibited. In SD rats, pre-treatment of muscone alleviated I/R injury-induced cardiac function dysregulation and left ventricle remolding. Furthermore, muscone increased SIRT3 expression at both mRNA and protein levels. With 3-TYP inhibiting SIRT3, the protective effects of muscone in H9c2 cardiomyocytes and SD rats were all significantly alleviated. In summary, muscone can attenuate inflammation, oxidative stress and cardiomyocytes injury in H9c2 cells treated with H/R and alleviate myocardial I/R injury of SD rats, which are dependent on SIRT3.
