Unfortunately, biodiesel produced from many feedstocks does not comply with the specifications for all the properties. To utilize biodiesel with poor quality, biodiesels can be blended so that the properties of the blend comply with the specifications. Determining the optimal biodiesel blend ratio experimentally requires a lot of effort particularly when the number of parameters to be optimized is more and when the number of constituent biodiesels in the blend is more. In this work, the application of non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm to predict optimal blends for different scenarios is demonstrated.Vitamin C (VC)-loaded oleogel (VCOG) with corn oil and monoglyceride stearate was used to replace lipid phase of margarine completely. The oxidative stability of VCOG was evaluated at 60±1°C in a lightproof oven for 18 days and the result showed that VCOG peroxide (> 6 days) and p-anisidine value (> 4 days) was significantly lower than that of bulk oil and VC-free oleogel (p 0.05). These results implied that VC-loaded oleogel was an excellent alternative of lipid phase in margarine which confirmed by 55% "definitely buy" and 25% "try once-then decide".Muscle wasting is a complication in patients with diabetes and leads to a reduced quality of life. However, the detailed mechanisms of diabetes-induced muscle wasting remain unknown. Plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1), a serine protease inhibitor that suppresses plasminogen activator activity, is involved in the pathophysiology of various diseases, including diabetes. In the present study, we examined the role of endogenous PAI-1 in the decrease in muscle mass and the impaired grip strength induced by the diabetic state by employing streptozotocin (STZ)-treated PAI-1-deficient female mice. The analyses of skeletal muscles and grip strength were performed in PAI-1-deficient and wild-type mice 4 weeks after the induction of a diabetic state by STZ administration. PAI-1 deficiency did not affect muscle mass in the lower limbs measured by quantitative computed tomography or tissue weights of the tibialis anterior, gastrocnemius and soleus muscles of female mice with or without STZ treatment. On the other hand, PAI-1 deficiency significantly aggravated grip strength decreased by STZ in female mice. PAI-1 deficiency did not affect the mRNA levels of Pax7, MyoD, myogenin or myosin heavy chain in either the tibialis anterior or soleus muscles of female mice with or without STZ treatment. In conclusion, we revealed for the first time that PAI-1 deficiency aggravates grip strength impaired by the diabetic state in female mice, although it did not affect diabetes-decreased muscle mass.

The aim of this meta-analysis was to assess outcomes of short vs. control DAPT duration. In addition, the role of single antiplatelet therapy (SAPT) after DAPT with either aspirin or P2Y

monotherapy was analyzed.

The authors searched MEDLINE and Cochrane databases and proceedings of international meetings for randomized controlled trials (RCT) comparing ≤ 3 months with ≥ 6 months DAPT after DES implantation. The primary and co-primary outcomes of interest were definite or probable stent thrombosis (ST) and bleeding. In addition, we performed an analysis on studies who continued with either aspirin or P2Y

monotherapy after DAPT.

9 RCTs comprising 41,864 patients were included and we analyzed a short DAPT duration of median 1.5 months vs. 12.1 months in the control group. The risk for ST was similar with short vs. control DAPT duration (0.5 vs. 0.5%; hazard ratio 1.17[95% CI 0.89-1.54]; p=0.26). Bleeding was significantly reduced with short vs. control DAPT duration (1.9 vs. 3.0%; 0.65[0.54-0.77]; p<0.0001). ST was not different between short vs. control DAPT duration in the analysis of the 4 RCTs who continued with aspirin after DAPT and the 5 P2Y

RCTs, respectively, and no heterogeneity was detected (p=0.861). Bleeding was also reduced with short vs. control DAPT in both the aspirin (1.2 vs. 1.7%; 0.71[0.51-0.99]; p=0.04) and P2Y

inhibitor studies (2.1 vs. 3.4%; 0.62[0.47-0.80]; p=0.0003) and no heterogeneity was detected (p=0.515).

Our meta-analysis shows that short DAPT ≤ 3 months followed by SAPT reduces bleeding and is not associated with an increase in ST. The results were consistent within the aspirin and P2Y

SAPT studies.
