Nanoporous metals (NPMs) can be readily fabricated via chemical or electrochemical dealloying of monolithic alloys with diversified shapes and compositions. Benefited from their high surface area, high density of steps and kinks on the ligament surface, and unsupported character, NPMs have attracted increasing attentions as a new class of heterogeneous catalysts with high reactivity, selectivity and long-term stability. This animal model is designed to fill a critical void to study immunologic aspects related to reconstructive transplantation of male genitalia. A rat penile graft dissection was designed based on the internal pudendal arteries and dorsal penile vein and includes the skin of the prepuce. A non-suture cuff technique was used to anastomose the graft vessels to the recipient superficial epigastric and femoral vessels. 77 penile transplantations were performed. Graft design yields suitable caliber and length of vessels at the radix of the penis. Anastomosis of the dorsal penile vein and the internal pudendal arteries insures optimal graft perfusion. The non-suture cuff technique allows for successful microvascular anastomosis by a single surgeon with an average overall operative time of 2.5 hours. Long-term graft survival (>30 days) was observed in syngeneic transplants. We have established a robust murine model with ideal vascular perfusion of penile tissue to study the unique immunobiology of male genitourinary allotransplantation. All rights reserved.INTRODUCTION Clinical response and chemo-sensitivity of relapse or refractory AML patients were evaluated after rescue and bridge-to-transplant MEC regimen. METHODS AND PATIENTS consecutive AML patients were treated with MEC from 2009 to 2018. Chemo-sensitivity was evaluated by WT1 quantification. RESULTS 27/55 patients (49.1%) had AML resistant to induction and 28/55 patients (50.9%) had AML relapse. 25/55 patients (45.5%) achieved a CR after one course of MEC; 12 patients (21.8%) achieved WT1 negativity. In 12 patients, a second MEC was administered. 4 out of 12 patients improved significantly their response with the 2nd MEC. MEC was an effective bridge to transplant, 32/55 patients (58.2%), received an allogenic stem cell transplant. Median overall survival (OS) from MEC was 455 days (95% C.I. 307-602 days.); Patient with WT1 negative CR had the best OS (p less then .000) CONCLUSION WT1 is a useful marker of chemo-sensitivity after MEC as rescue and bridge-to-transplant therapy. However, as endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) applications have expanded, there have emerged various EUS-guided interventions for liver disease, a space we call "Endo-Hepatology". EUS-guided liver biopsy can be considered the "forerunner" of Endo-Hepatology, and has become a clinical option for patients requiring histologic diagnosis and staging of their liver disease. EUS also enables direct access to the portal vein. Subsequently, many procedures are being explored, such as angiography, measurement of the portosystemic pressure gradient, portal vein sampling to detect cancer cell or DNA, and EUS-guided transhepatic intrahepatic portosystemic shunt creation. Veterinarians need accurate, efficient tools and straightforward assessments to evaluate the health status of fish, like the Rainbow Trout, that are cultivated on farms. In this study, two genetically distinct broodstock lines of rainbow trout originally obtained from two different U.S. States but propagated at Rushing Waters Trout Farm in Palmyra, Wisconsin were evaluated. One group of Rainbow Trout originated from State A (n=20) and one group from State B (n=20), and they were both surveyed with a modified health assessment in a prospective, randomized, single-blind study. The adapted health assessment included external and internal gross evaluations, skin scrapes, gill clips, intestinal scrapes, and calculated indices including condition factor and the hepatosomatic index. Generally, there were few significant differences in health assessment values between State A fish and State B fish. When this information was presented to the producer, it was discovered that perceived differences between groups were due to management errors in calculated growth rates. BACKGROUND Transformational leadership is known to have a significant positive effect on work environment and job satisfaction. Additionally, promoting spiritual climate amongst staff can benefit workers by increasing self-worth. The relationship between the two is unknown. METHODS Nurse clinicians from 2 sites in the Jiangsu province of China completed self-report questionnaires based on spiritual climate, emotional exhaustion, clinical leadership and turnover intention scales. Mediation analysis was applied to evaluate impact of spiritual climate. RESULTS Perceived positive spirituality amongst nurse clinicians reinforces transformational leadership to reduce emotional exhaustion (indirect effect of -0.089, p less then 0.01). Burnout and intention to leave showed significantly positive correlation with lower levels of perceived spirituality (r=0.545, p less then 0.01). CONCLUSIONS Transformational leadership in the workplace can reduce nurses' burnout and a positive spiritual climate increases meaningfulness in their work. This may help in nurse retention. IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING MANAGEMENT Healthcare leaders must look beyond transformational leadership to maintain a positive and supportive clinical climate and this may involve acknowledgement of nurses's spiritual needs. Suture zones offer the opportunity to compare these processes across multiple species. In this paper we use reduced-complexity genomic data to compare the genetic and phenotypic structure and hybridization patterns of two mimetic butterfly species, Ithomia salapia and Oleria onega (Nymphalidae Ithomiini), each consisting of a pair of lineages differentiated for their wing colour pattern and that come into contact in the Andean foothills of Peru. Despite similarities in their life history, we highlight major differences, both at the genomic and phenotypic level, between the two species. These differences include the presence of hybrids, variations in wing phenotype, and genomic patterns of introgression and differentiation. In I. salapia, the two lineages appear to hybridize only rarely, whereas in O. onega the hybrids are not only more common, but also genetically and phenotypically more variable. We also detected loci statistically associated with wing colour pattern variation, but in both species these loci were not over-represented among the candidate barrier loci, suggesting that traits other than wing colour pattern may be important for reproductive isolation. Our results contrast with the genomic patterns observed between hybridizing lineages in the mimetic Heliconius butterflies, and call for a broader investigation into the genomics of speciation in Ithomiini - the largest radiation of mimetic butterflies. All rights reserved.OBJECTIVES In the TOURMALINE-MM1 phase 3 trial in relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma, ixazomib-lenalidomide-dexamethasone (IRd) showed different magnitudes of progression-free survival (PFS) benefit vs placebo-Rd according to number and type of prior therapies, with greater benefit seen in patients with >1 prior line of therapy or 1 prior line of therapy without stem cell transplantation (SCT). METHODS RNA sequencing data were used to investigate the basis of these differences. RESULTS The PFS benefit of IRd vs placebo-Rd was greater in patients with tumors expressing high c-MYC levels (median not reached vs 11.3 months; hazard ratio [HR] 0.42; 95% CI, 0.26, 0.66; P less then 0.001) compared with in those expressing low c-MYC levels (median 20.6 vs 16.6 months; HR 0.75; 95% CI, 0.42, 1.2). Expression of c-MYC in tumors varied based on the number and type of prior therapy received, with the lowest levels observed in tumors of patients who had received 1 prior line of therapy including SCT. These tumors also had higher expression levels of CD19 and CD81. CONCLUSIONS PFS analyses suggest that lenalidomide and ixazomib target tumors with different levels of c-MYC, CD19, and CD81 expression, thus providing a potential rationale for the differential benefits observed in the TOURMALINE-MM1 study. All rights reserved.OBJECTIVE This meta-analysis was performed to systematically evaluate the efficacy of hyaluronidase combined with corticosteroids compared with other drugs in improving maximum mouth opening and alleviating the burning sensation in patients with oral submucous fibrosis (OSF). METHODS PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library were searched. RevMan 5.3 software was used for the meta-analysis. RESULTS Six studies involving 244 patients with OSF were analysed. No significant difference in improvement of maximum mouth opening was found between the hyaluronidase and control groups (lycopene, pentoxifylline, aloe vera, dexamethasone, Turmix [curcumin + piperine], and isoxsuprine) at 1 month (mean difference [MD] 0.32, 95% confidence interval [CI] -0.92-1.56, P=0.61, I2 =57%), 2 months (MD 0.49, 95% CI -0.14-1.12, P=0.12, I2 =41%), or 3 months (MD 0.40, 95% CI -1.08-1.87, P=0.60, I2 =92%).
