Overall, Hmc364-382 open perspectives to the development of new antichagasic agents.Foliar functional traits are widely used to characterize leaf and canopy properties that drive ecosystem processes and to infer physiological processes in Earth system models. Imaging spectroscopy provides great potential to map foliar traits to characterize continuous functional variation and diversity, but few studies have demonstrated consistent methods for mapping multiple traits across biomes. With airborne imaging spectroscopy data and field data from 19 sites, we developed trait models using partial least squares regression, and mapped 26 foliar traits in 7 NEON (National Ecological Observatory Network) ecoregions (domains) including temperate and subtropical forests and grasslands of eastern North America. Model validation accuracy varied among traits (normalized RMSE, 9.1-19.4%; R2 , 0.28-0.82), with phenolic concentration, leaf mass per area and equivalent water thickness performing best across domains. Across all trait maps, 90% of vegetated pixels had reasonable values for one trait, and 28-81% provided high confidence for multiple traits concurrently. Maps of 26 traits and their uncertainties for eastern U.S. NEON sites are available for download, and are being expanded to the western U.S. and tundra/boreal zone. These data enable better understanding of trait variations and relationships over large areas, calibration of ecosystem models, and assessment of continental-scale functional diversity.Objective This study aimed to clarify whether plasma acrolein level actually increases in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients, and to elucidate whether any relationship exists between the levels and the RA background variables.Methods Plasma levels of protein-conjugated acrolein (PC-Acro) in 84 patients (RA group) and 298 normal individuals (Control group) were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay procedures. The data were statistically analyzed with Wilcoxon rank-sum test, multiple logistic regression analyses and Spearman's rank correlation coefficient.Results The RA group showed significantly higher PC-Acro levels than the Control group (median [interquartile range] 80.5 [63.2-105.2] and 65.9 [58.9-78.1] nmol/ml, respectively). Of background factors giving influence to PC-Acro level in the combination of the two groups, "diagnosis of RA positive" indicated strong correlation to high PC-Acro level (odds ratio 2.96; 95% confidence interval 1.54-5.71). These increases of PC-Acro in the RA patients did not correlate to their disease duration and/or inflammatory variables PC-Acro level could elevate even in early RA patients showing negative inflammatory findings.Conclusion Plasma levels of PC-Acro increased with RA, but the levels did not correlate with RA background variables. This report provides the basis for further studies of early diagnosis of RA as well as its pathogenesis.Purpose A contour propagation study has been conducted to benchmark three algorithms for Deformable Image Registration (DIR) freely available online against well-established commercial solutions. Methods ElastiX, BRAINS and Plastimach, available as modules in the open source platform 3DSlicer, were tested as the recent AAPM Task group 132 guidelines proposes. To avoid bias every algorithm was left to run without any human interaction nor particular registration strategy. The accuracy of the algorithms was measured using the Dice Similarity Coefficient (DSC) and Mean Distance to Conformity (MDC) metrics. The registration quality was compared to the recommended geometrical accuracy suggested by AAPM TG132 and to the results of a large population-based study performed with commercial DIR solutions. Results The considered free-to-use DIR solutions generally meet acceptable accuracy and good overlap (DSC > 0.85). Mild failures (DSC 3 mm). The morphing capability of the tested algorithms equals those of commercial systems when the user interaction is avoided. Underperformances were detected only in cases where a specific registration strategy is mandatory to obtain a satisfying match. Conclusions All of the considered algorithms show performances not inferior to previously published data and have the potential to be good candidates for use in the clinical routine. The results and conclusions only apply to the considered phantoms and should not be considered to be generally applicable and extendable to patient cases.Purpose Decision making involves multiple cognitive and linguistic processes. The extent to which these processes are involved depends, in part, on the conditions under which decision making is assessed. Because people with aphasia (PWA) have impaired language abilities and may also present with cognitive deficits, they may have difficulty during decision-making tasks. Yet little research exists on the decision-making abilities of PWA. Thus, the purposes of this study were to investigate the performance of PWA on linguistic and nonlinguistic decision-making measures and to explore the relationship between decision making and cognitive test performance. Method A quasi-experimental design was used to compare the performance of PWA (n = 16) and age- and education-matched control participants (n = 16) on three decision-making tasks Making a Decision subtest from the Functional Assessment of Verbal Reasoning and Executive Strategies (linguistic decision-making task), Iowa Gambling Task (nonlinguistic decision-makion supports for people with acquired communication disorders; further investigation in the areas of decision making and aphasia is needed.A novel niobium nitride, U2S3-type Nb2N3, has been successfully synthesized by nitridation of δ-NbN above approximately 30 GPa in a laser-heated diamond anvil cell. Nb2N3 crystallizes in the same orthorhombic structure (space group Pnma) as η-Ta2N3. Nb2N3 consists of regular-shaped polyhedra, and the bulk modulus has been determined to K0 = 300(2) GPa. The low-temperature X-ray diffraction measurements have been successfully conducted for the tiny novel Nb2N3 between 297.7(5) and 106.3(3) K under ambient pressure. Nb2N3 shows no structural phase transition down to 106.3(3) K, and investigation of the linear thermal expansion coefficients yields αa = 3.36(9) × 10-6 K-1, αb = 5.39(10) × 10-6 K-1, αc = 6.77(15) × 10-6 K-1, respectively. Our study reveals that the incompressible novel nitride shows low thermal expansion behavior, which offers new insights for the development of functional nitrides and their crystal chemistry.
