COVID-19 vaccines are critical tools to manage the current pandemic. The objective of this study is to assess determinants of COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy among parents in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

A cross-sectional study of parents were performed, who had at least one child aged 5-17years. The data were collected by a self-report questionnaire, which was based, predominately, on the Health Belief Model (HBM), between January 21 and 20 April 2021. The main outcome of this study aims to investigate the self-reported parental COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy for their children that has been approved by health authorities in Vietnam.

A total of 1,015 parents completed the survey. Parental COVID-19 Vaccine Hesitancy for their children (26.2%) was decreased with blue-collar workers, intended to get vaccinated themselves, indicated sufficient knowledge toward COVID-19, and their older children reported having comorbidities. In the HBM structure, the barriers were positively related to parents' hesitancy to vaccinateociated with parental vaccination hesitancy for their children include sufficient knowledge of the COVID-19, older children and those with chronic conditions, and domains of HBM like the perception of susceptibility and severity to illness, benefit and barriers of vaccination, and cues to action. These will contribute to make planning in health communication strategies for the upcoming vaccination campaigns, as well as managing the pandemic.Serum ferritin (SF) is frequently elevated in classical Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL). We report on its prognostic significance in an unselected series of 529 cHL patients treated with state-of-the-art therapy. Higher baseline levels correlated with markers of advanced/aggressive disease. SF levels were significantly higher in male and older patients, those with high body mass index and mixed cellularity histology. The strongest correlation was recorded between SF and complement reactive protein (CRP) levels. Gender-specific SF cutoffs which provided the best discrimination in terms of freedom from progression (FFP) were identified. In multivariate analysis elevated SF levels, advanced stage and high lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) were independent prognostic factors of inferior FFP. SF also appears to retain independent prognostic significance for progression-free survival (PFS) but not for overall survival (OS). In conclusion, SF levels in cHL reflect disease activity and are associated with adverse patient outcomes. Background Botulinum Toxin A (BTX-A) has been found to improve blood flow perfusion. This study aimed to find in literature the use of BTX-A in Plastic Surgery and in particular its use to improve blood flow perfusion. Methods We read the article "Effects of Botulinum Toxin A on the blood flow in expanded rat skin" and starting from this article we searched in the literature all the articles talking about the use of BTX-A to improve blood flow perfusion. Results BTX-A increase the expression of VEGF, CD-31 and INOS. Moreover BTX-A selective suppress sympathetic neurons of the cutaneous microcirculation. We found 13 studies that confirm the effects of Botulinum Toxin A in improving blood flow perfusion of cutaneous and myocutaneous flaps. Conclusion We think that in the future we could start to use BTX-A in these fields of plastic surgery, but we really need to understand good dosages and standardize them, see which are the effects on long-term outcomes, and put on randomized trials providing high-level evidence about the range of dosages in which we are safe to use BTX-A and asses the risk-benefit ratio in humans and the cost-benefit ratio. Background and objectives Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) interacts with the gut immunity. However, the mechanisms underlying alternations of intestinal immune system in NAFLD remains unclear. To date, no effective medical interventions exist that completely reverse the disease. Cell Cycle inhibitor In this review, we mainly elaborates on the impact of NAFLD on intestinal immune cells and briefly summarize the new treatment methods for NAFLD targeting at intestinal immune cells. Methods We searched MEDLINE, EMBASE and Web of Science for English-language sources. The preferred citations were meta-analyses and systematic or narrative reviews. Citation tracking was completed for all identified studies included in the refined library, using Google Scholar. No restriction was placed on the year of publication for the included reports. Results The intestinal immune imbalance promotes liver inflammation and fibrosis in the process of NAFLD, and meanwhile, NAFLD influences disorders of immune cells in the liver and intestinal tract. Biological agents targeting at intestinal immunity has been shown in preclinical studies to be an effective method for systemic immune modulation and alleviates immune-mediated injury. Conclusions Intestinal immune disorder plays an important role in triggering and amplifying hepatic inflammation in NAFLD. Advances in knowledge of the gut-liver axis are driving the development of diagnostic, prognostic and therapeutic tools based on intestine immunity for the management of NAFLD.

Vitamin D deficiency is common during pregnancy and may cause complications such as preterm labor (PTL). This study was aimed to investigate the effect of the vitamin D-binding protein (VDBP) rs7041 genotype, which has a significant effect on vitamin D metabolism and PTL.

This cross-sectional study was conducted with 32 pregnant women who had spontaneous PTL and 54 pregnant women who had no specific findings as a control group. Serum total vitamin D 25-hydroxy vitamin D (25(OH)D) levels were measured using the Elecsys Vitamin D Total Kit. VDBP was measured using a VDBP Quantikine ELISA Kit. The levels of bioavailable 25(OH)D were calculated based on the total 25(OH)D and VDBP concentrations. DNA was extracted using the DNeasy Blood and Tissue Kit. Single nucleotide polymorphisms (rs7041) in GC were analyzed using a TaqMan SNP Genotyping Assay Kit. The unpaired

-test, Chi-squared, and ANCOVA tests were performed. Firth's penalized logistic regression was applied. The area under the curve (AUC) was calculH)D and VDBP levels for the diagnosis of PTL was calculated as 0.6 ng/mL and 523 µg/mL, respectively.

Pregnant women with the VDBP rs7041(c.1296 T > G) T allele genotype had reduced serum levels of bioavailable 25(OH)D and were more likely to develop PTL. Therefore, if the T allele is found in the VDBP rs7041 SNP genotyping test before or during pregnancy, more careful prenatal care may be required because of the increased risk of PTL.

With a focus on awareness programme, Indian artists designed comics to demonstrate their vital position in social engagement through this visual medium. Following impending threats and growing concerns, people of all ages glued themselves to social media, newspapers, and television to keep them updated on the impact of COVID-19. Indian comics e.g. Nagraj Strikes The Attack of Coronaman (2020), Priya's Mask (2020), Kids, Vaayu, and Corona Who Wins the Fight? (2020), and 'Be aware of Droplets & Bubbles!!' (2020) aimed to help children comprehend the precautionary steps to be taken to save themselves from getting infected with Coronavirus. While the first three comics showcase spit-bubbles primarily as the source of COVID-19, infusing the content with a tinge of superhero fantasy, 'Be aware of Droplets & Bubbles!!' (2020) unveils the microbiological evolution and mutation of the pathogen in comics format. The objective of the article is to show how Indian comics on COVID-19 can be an advantageous communicative medium to nurture knowledge and edutainment in post-infection India.

A 12-year-old boy with a history of decreased vision and photophobia since he was 1 year old. Comprehensive clinical and molecular approaches were applied to evaluate his condition by which a detailed ophthalmological examination revealed bilateral isolated foveal hypoplasia with the absence of the avascular zone. Novel homozygous aryl hydrocarbon receptor (

) splice site mutation NM_001621.4 c.899_908+15del (p.?) was identified and segregated within the family members.

This case represents the first report of autosomal recessive isolated foveal hypoplasia without infantile nystagmus in the literature and the second reported

mutation with autosomal recessive isolated foveal hypoplasia post the original cloning paper. Our identified novel splice site

mutation supports the pathogenicity of the

gene and expands its phenotypic spectrum.

Retinal and optic nerve damage in glaucoma involves excitotoxicity via N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptors. Since,

-resveratrol (TR) is known to provide neuroprotection, we investigated its protective effects against NMDA-induced retinal and optic nerve injury.

Sprague Dawley rats were divided into four groups which received vehicle (PBS), NMDA, and TR 0.4 or TR 4 nmol 24 h prior to NMDA, unilaterally and intravitreally. Seven days post-injection, rats were euthanized; eyeballs were enucleated and subjected to hematoxylin and eosin and terminal transferase dUTP nick end labeling staining while optic nerves were isolated for toluidine blue staining.

Retinal morphometry showed that ganglion cell layer (GCL) layer thickness within inner retina (IR), retinal cell count (RCC) per 100-µm length of GCL, RCC per 100-µm

area of GCL, and RCC per 100 µm

of IR were significantly higher in both TR-treated groups compared to the NMDA group. No differences were observed between the two dose groups. Optic nerve morphology was in accordance with the retinal morphology whereby TR-treated groups showed significantly lesser degenerative changes compared to NMDA-treated group.

TR protects against NMDA-induced changes in retinal and optic nerve morphology by preventing retinal cell apoptosis.

Coronary artery bypass grafting in patients with established liver cirrhosis is generally associated with poor outcomes. Avoiding cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) in these patients has not demonstrated any advantage over the use of CPB. We review the current available literature that compared the outcome of both on-pump (ONCABG) and off-pump (OPCAB) techniques in cirrhotic patients in terms of morbidity and mortality.

A comprehensive search was conducted in the PubMed/MEDLINE and EMBASE databases in January 2021. Articles that reported outcomes of OPCAB and/or ONCABG in cirrhotic patients with no concomitant surgical procedures were included. 829 unique abstracts were retrieved with title and abstract screening completed independently by two reviewers. Two case studies and six retrospective cohort studies were included. The largest study comprised more than 98% of the total population, showing some survival benefit for OPCAB over ONCABG. However, it was population-based and did not report the severity of liver.
