Tick-borne encephalitis virus (TBEV), a member of the family Flaviviridae, is one of the most important tick-transmitted viruses in Europe and Asia. Being a neurotropic virus, TBEV causes infection of the central nervous system, leading to various (permanent) neurological disorders summarized as tick-borne encephalitis (TBE). The incidence of TBE cases has increased due to the expansion of TBEV and its vectors. Since antiviral treatment is lacking, vaccination against TBEV is the most important protective measure. However, vaccination coverage is relatively low and immunogenicity of the currently available vaccines is limited, which may account for the vaccine failures that are observed. Understanding the TBEV-specific correlates of protection is of pivotal importance for developing novel and improved TBEV vaccines. For affording robust protection against infection and development of TBE, vaccines should induce both humoral and cellular immunity. In this review, the adaptive immunity induced upon TBEV infection and vaccination as well as novel approaches to produce improved TBEV vaccines are discussed.This study tested the effect of person-organization fit (P-O fit) in mediating the link between job satisfaction and hospital performance with income as a moderator. A questionnaire survey was conducted on 301 physicians from two public hospitals in Zhejiang province of China. Respondents were asked to rate their job satisfaction, value congruence (P-O fit) with the hospital, and the hospital's performance. The mediating effect of P-O fit on the link between job satisfaction and hospital performance was tested through partial least squares-structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). Income was introduced to the model as a moderator on the "P-O fit → hospital performance" and "job satisfaction → hospital performance" path, respectively. Higher job satisfaction and P-O fit were associated with higher ratings on hospital performance (p less then 0.01). P-O fit had a partial mediating effect on the association between job satisfaction and hospital performance, accounting for 73% of the total effect. The effects of P-O fit and job satisfaction on hospital performance were stronger in the respondents with higher income. Overall, high job satisfaction is associated with high ratings on hospital performance, which is partially mediated through P-O fit. Value congruence is particularly important when financial tools are used to incentivize hospital physicians.In this study, the preparation of a milk whey-based beverage with the addition of different concentrations of hydrolyzed collagen (0.3%, 0.5%, 0.75%, and 1%) was carried out. The control was considered at a concentration of 0%. Physicochemical properties, viscosity, antioxidant activity, and microbiological parameters were evaluated. The 1% collagen treatment showed the highest protein content (9.75 ± 0.20 g/L), as well as radical inhibition for ATBS (48.30%) and DPPH (30.06%). There were no significant differences (p ≥ 0.05) in the fat and lactose parameters. However, the pH in the control treatment was lower compared to beverages treated with hydrolyzed collagen. Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy showed spectra characteristic of lactose and collagen amides. The viscosity increased significantly as the concentration of hydrolyzed collagen increased. The addition of hydrolyzed collagen increased the bioavailability, nutritional value, and the antioxidant activity of the beverage. Hydrolyzed collagen acted as an antimicrobial agent, as there was no presence of microorganism pathogens observed in the treated beverages.In this work, the metabolic elicitors extracted from the beneficial rhizobacterium Pseudomonas fluorescens N 21.4 were sequentially fragmented by vacuum liquid chromatography to isolate, purify and identify the compounds responsible for the extraordinary capacities of this strain to induce systemic resistance and to elicit secondary defensive metabolism in diverse plant species. To check if the fractions sequentially obtained were able to increase the synthesis of isoflavones and if, therefore, they still maintained the eliciting capacity of the live strain, rapid and controlled experiments were done with soybean seeds. The optimal action concentration of the fractions was established and all of them elicited isoflavone secondary metabolism-the fractions that had been extracted with n-hexane being more effective. The purest fraction was the one with the highest eliciting capacity and was also tested in Arabidopsis thaliana seedlings to induce systemic resistance against the pathogen Pseudomonas syringae pv. tomato DC 3000. This fraction was then analyzed by UHPLC/ESI-QTOF-MS, and an alkaloid, two amino lipids, three arylalkylamines and a terpenoid were tentatively identified. Use of anti-glycation natural products may reduce age-related pathophysiological changes.
