Twilight Princess Game Review

Twilight Princess is the darkest, most serious and serious Nintendo 3D Zelda game. It pushes graphical presentation on the Wii to its limits. It's more frightening and mysterious than The Wind Waker, with no bug-eyed pig guards, or even effeminate pirates.

Link is drawn to a parallel dimension referred to as Twilight Realm where he takes on the form of both the form of a Hylian Wolf and the form of a Hylian while being guided Midna.

Gameplay

The thirteenth installment in The Legend of Zelda is Twilight Princess. It was released in 2006 for the Nintendo GameCube system and Wii. The game was highly acclaimed by critics and received top scores from several publications including 1UP, CVG, EGM and GamesRadar. Many consider it to be the best game in the franchise and the most viewed Zelda title on the PAL market.

Twilight Princess features a naturalistic, stylized graphic style that is reminiscent of Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask and Ocarina of Time, but with a more sophisticated graphic engine. Twilight princess is the first game in the series with a fully directional movement control scheme, rather than a fixed viewpoint like previous games. This modification was made to work with the Wii console, which features a pointing-based user interface. The GameCube version of the game comes with an area in the back with mirror-image maps for those who prefer the traditional fixed view.

When entering the Twilight Realm, Link is transformed into a wolf and meets Midna, a mysterious creature. She informs Link that the kingdom of Hyrule is now under the control of a group shadow beasts led the evil sorcerer Zant. She also explains she is the true ruler of Twili but was taken over by Zant and cursed to her current form.

When Link and Midna arrive at Hyrule Castle, a short cut scene shows the soldiers being killed by the shadow beasts. Link and Midna then escape from the castle by an escape tunnel that leads to the Twilight Realm.

Link can move more freely in the Twilight Realm by using his Wolf form. Link can also use his senses to navigate around the world. He can hear the ghosts of soldiers and animals in the distance. He can also whistle and pull grass from specific patches to summon an animal like a Hawk, Epona or other. Alternatively, Link can howl near these patches to summon the same animal.

Twilight Princess is no different from other Zelda titles in that music plays a significant role. Link can use a musical instrument like the flute or harp, to attract and summon various animals. Link can also command the form of a wolf using his voice. He can also use his compass as a way to help him navigate through the world.

Characters

The Legend of Zelda is full of colorful and unique characters that will leave an unforgettable impression. From hands that come out of toilets to pirate sailors traveling across vast oceans these wacky and unique characters are the essence of the game. Twilight Princess continues in the tradition of the previous games, introducing an array of memorable characters.

In the course of the story, Link meets new NPCs who are not just interesting, but also believable. It's a huge improvement that so many of these NPCs don't exist solely as victims they actually have a role to play in the story. NPCs such as Rusl who explains that the forest is risky now and kidnaps children as well as the Ordon villager who disguises himself as a wolf to hide his identity when the kids are kidnapped all have distinct personalities.

Other notable characters include Iza who runs the Boat Rental Cabin as well as Iza's Rapid Ride in the Lanayru Province, Louise, Telma's cat, who assists Wolf Link locate a secret passageway through her bar as well as sewer system to the castle, and Faron, whose spirit guides Link and Midna to the Forest Temple in the Eldin Province. The two team members defeat Diababa's Fused Shadow and obtains the first Tear Of Light.

Midna is the princess of the Twilight Realm and one of the most interesting characters in the game. She can change between her wolf and human forms and is a part of the Triforce of Wisdom. She is friends with Link and tells him about her experience in the twilight realm and how she defeated Zant, the king of Twilight.

Zant is the evil sorcerer that rules the Twilight Realm. He possesses the second part of the Triforce of Wisdom. The goddesses banished him to Twilight Realm for enslaving their people and taking over their territory. Midna dispels Zant's power, which allows him to change into his human form when needed.

The game also includes an upgraded horse, called Epona, which is ridden in Hylian and wolf versions. Link can whistle near specific grass patches to summon the animal. (similar to Majora's Mask). Twilight Princess is the first game in the series in which the player can identify their horse.

Theme

Music is among the most important parts of any Zelda game and it can make the world feel expansive exciting, epic, and thrilling. However, Twilight Princess is criticized for its erratic and sporadic soundtrack that doesn't capture the emotional impact of certain moments. In contrast, Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask have captivating music that bloom at the right time to create a sense of grandness and eerie.

Twilight Princess was composed by Asuka Ohta and Toru Minegishi. Koji Kondo, the series' composer for the first since Wind Waker was in charge of overseeing the composers. The soundtrack for Twilight Princess is a bold departure from the usual approach to the franchise, with a minimalist approach to music and arrangement. Most field and dungeon themes start with a single instrument, creating an eerie and mysterious ambiance for the player. For example, the haunting music in Midna's Lament utilizes an ordinary piano to create an overwhelming feeling of sadness for the player.

The most well-known examples are dungeon themes, with a dull atmosphere. This is particularly evident in Twilight Realm, which has an dark soundscape that could be heard in a David Lynch movie. The absence of melody and the traditional arrangement of this track enhances its dark, eerie nature. Drones and strange patterns intertwine to create a dark and eerie sound.

A more uplifting and joyous track is Link's hometown theme, "Faron Woods." This tune uses various soft tones and stringed instruments to evoke an idyllic feeling of security and peace for the player. The song also has subtle references to the franchise's most infamous scene, since it has an riff that is similar to the iconic tune that plays at the beginning of Ocarina of Time.

There are also some exciting songs in Twilight Princess that change depending on where the player is in the game, what they're doing, and what's going on. For example, the Hyrule Castle Town theme has different versions for each section of the town and Central Square being the most popular. Central Square having a more lively and full version of the tune. These variations add a wonderful touch to the world of Hyrule that adds a sense of deepness and immersion.
