Colony rooms provide cats with many opportunities to use enrichment, but animal shelters usually have finite resources to provision items. This study examined how cats select enrichment items when given a variety of options. Our goal was to identify whether certain enrichment might be particularly beneficial for different cats. Enrichment was categorized into three categories based on function (soft surfaces for resting, enclosed spaces for security, and vertical surfaces for vantage points). Demographic (sex, source of intake) and non-demographic (length of stay, floor space per cat, people present) features of the cats were entered into models as predictors. For all enrichment categories, the presence of people in the room significantly decreased item use, males used vertical surfaces more, all cats used vertical surfaces more the longer they were at the shelter, and cats that were seized or signed over from hoarding or cruelty cases used enclosed spaces more. Identifying patterns of enrichment use can allow shelters to more effectively distribute limited resources and maximize the welfare of individual cats during their stay at the shelter.

This study aims to describe the employment status and pattern among survivors of traumatic brain injury after motor vehicle accidents, and to explore the effects of demographic, injury variables and concomitant injuries on the employment status .

A retrospective analyses of 370 medical reports written for patients who sustained traumatic brain injury from motor vehicle accidents was conducted. To establish the employment pattern, the pre-injury employment history was compared to the latest employment status documented. Types and severity of concomitant injuries were rated according to Abbreviated Injury Scale criteria. All significant variables were further analyzed using logistic regression to explore predictors of employment.

Up to 87% of the patients sustained concomitant injuries, with more than two-thirds (72%) scoring ≤ 2 on the Abbreviated Injury Scale. One hundred and eighty-two patients (49.2%) successfully returned to work. Among those who returned to work, 34% returned to former employment with pre-injury job description. Severity of traumatic brain injury, length of acute hospital stay, ambulation status and cognitive status were found to be significant predictive factors for employment status post traumatic brain injury. Presence of concomitant extremity injuries was found to influence the employment pattern among traumatic brain injury survivors.

The return to work rate was somewhat low and was not influenced by presence of concomitant injuries. .

The return to work rate was somewhat low and was not influenced by presence of concomitant injuries. .Hypertension is a major risk factor for developing cardiovascular disease. Various factors such as occupational and environmental risk factors affect blood pressure. Shift work is considered to be an occupational stressor. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between rotating shift work and blood pressure among nurses working in hospitals associated with faculty of medical science. This cross-sectional and descriptive-analytic study was conducted on nurses who worked in three hospitals associated with faculty of medical science, located in Abadan, southwest of Iran from September until December 2019. The sample size was 120 participants and divided into 60 rotating shift workers and 60 day workers (non-shift workers). The nurses were selected through the stratified random sampling technique. Demographic data, smoking status, and medical and occupational history were collected through a check list and interviews. Blood pressure was measured using a digital sphygmomanometer. Data were analyzed by the Mann-Whitney U, chi-square, Pearson's correlation coefficient and logistic regression by using SPSS software version 22. There was statistically significant difference in blood pressure between day workers and rotating shift workers (p ≤ 0.001). By logistic regression analyses, and even after adjusting for confounding variables, rotating shift work was associated with a higher prevalence of hypertension (OR 1.76 [95%CI 1.11-2.80]). The findings of this study showed that rotating shift workers have a higher incidence of hypertension than day workers. Telaglenastat Therefore, a particular follow-up of rotating shift workers should be recommended to screen workers for hypertension.Cervical cancer, the third most common cancer in women, is caused in nearly all cases by a persistent infection with high-risk types of the human papillomavirus. Although human papillomavirus infections are 80%-90% transient and disappear spontaneously within 24 months, human papillomavirus infections that remain are at risk of developing cervical lesions. Different therapeutical approaches have been tested to promote the regression of low-grade lesions or prevent progression. They include the application of 5-fluorouracil, curcumin, imiquimod, interferons, Vitamin D, and others. Also, the effect of probiotics and vaginal therapy with carboxy-methyl-beta glucan was assessed. Review of the literature and presentation of the last study data are presented. Clearance of high-risk human papillomavirus seemed to be promoted by treatment with a new vaginal gel containing a highly disperse SiO2 and an anti-oxidative combination of citric acid and sodium. This gel showed, after 6 months, an improvement of cytological Pap findings (ASC-US, LSIL, ASC-H, or HSIL) in 80.9% of the participants. Similarly, there was a clearing of hr-human papillomavirus in 53% of cases after 3 months of gel administration. The percentage increased slightly in the non-treated control group from 78.3% at baseline to 83% after 3 months. The percentage of patients who were tested positive for p16/Ki67 reduced from 75% at baseline to 5.3% in the treatment group after 6 months, while the percentage decreased only slightly in the non-treated group (baseline 91.5%; 6 months 75.2%). The examined vaginal gel may support the healing of conspicuous cytological findings (ASC-US, LSIL, ASC-H, or HSIL) and clearance of hr-human papillomavirus positive results.
