Using a DOCA-salt-induced hypertensive mouse model, we investigated whether B1R deficiency reduces hypertensive renal injury and fibrosis. To further recognize the translational role of B1R, we examined the expression of B1R and its correlation with collagen deposition in renal biopsies from control and hypertensive kidney disease patients. Our data indicates that renal B1R expression was upregulated in the kidneys of DOCA-salt hypertensive mice. Genetic ablation of B1R protected the mice from DOCA-salt-induced renal injury and fibrosis by preventing inflammation and oxidative stress in the kidney. Cultured human proximal tubular epithelial cells expressed B1R and stimulation of B1R with an agonist resulted in increased oxidative stress. In human kidney biopsy samples, we found that the B1R immunoreactivity was not only significantly increased in hypertensive patients compared to normotensive patients, but also there is a positive correlation between B1R expression and renal fibrosis levels. Taken together, our results identify a critical role of B1R in the development of inflammation and fibrosis of the kidney in hypertension.

This study aimed to analyze the clinical features of anti-PM/Scl antibodies in Chinese patients.

We reviewed the clinical data of anti-PM/Scl antibody-positive patients, including their long-term follow-up.

A total of 30 patients carried anti-PM/Scl antibodies, 21 (70%) were females, and the mean age was 55.4 years, 15 (50%) and 10 (33.3%) patients were positive for anti-PM/Scl-75 and anti-PM/Scl-100, respectively. Fifteen cases (50%) were diagnosed as inflammatory myopathy, namely, 11 dermatomyositis (DM) and 4 polymyositis (PM). Five (16.7%) patients were diagnosed with overlap syndrome, and only one (3.3%) was diagnosed as systemic sclerosis. The other 9 (30%) patients were classified as undifferentiated connective tissue disease. Twenty-six (86.7%) had interstitial lung disease (ILD) and was the sole manifestation in 8 (26.7%) patients, 15 (58.0%) showed non-specific interstitial pneumonia based on high-resolution CT or lung biopsy. The majority of patients (95%) with mild and moderate groups on basients may complicate with ILD alone without extrapulmonary manifestations. Acceptance of disability (AOD) is a process that a patient must undergo to cope with altered abilities, but its effect in Parkinson's disease (PD) remains unclear. The present study aimed to determine the level of AOD, examine the influence of sociodemographic variables and disease characteristics on the AOD level, and evaluate the relation between AOD level and quality of life in a cohort of PD patients from Southwest of China.

A total of 336 PD patients were consecutively recruited from November 2018 to October 2020. At enrollment, demographic and clinical data were obtained using a questionnaire, and the Acceptance of Disability Scale-Revised (AODS-R) scale was used to measure the AOD level.

The mean total score of AOD is 87.28, indicating a moderate level of disability acceptance in PD patients. Statistical analysis showed that understanding of PD, family support, and UPDRS-II score were major factors affecting AOD level, and patients with low AOD levels were more likely to have poorer quality of life.

This study aimed to establish the best early gastric cancer lymph node metastasis (LNM) prediction model through machine learning (ML) to better guide clinical diagnosis and treatment decisions.

We screened gastric cancer patients with T1a and T1b stages from 2010 to 2015 in the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) database and collected the clinicopathological data of patients with early gastric cancer who were treated with surgery at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University from January 2014 to December 2016. At the same time, we applied 7 ML algorithms-the generalized linear model (GLM), RPART, random forest (RF), gradient boosting machine (GBM), support vector machine (SVM), regularized dual averaging (RDA), and the neural network (NNET)-and combined them with patient pathological information to develop the best prediction model for early gastric cancer lymph node metastasis. Among the SEER set, 80% were randomly selected to train the models, while the remaining 20% were used the RDA model had the best predictive performance and could better guide clinical diagnosis and treatment decisions.

The number of elderly patients with superficial esophageal cancer (SEC) is increasing. We aimed to evaluate the clinical outcomes and prognostic factors of overall survival (OS) in elderly patients undergoing endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) or surgical resection for SEC.
