Piriformis syndrome (PS) is a condition in which the sciatic nerve is compressed when passing through the inferior mouth of the piriformis muscle, mainly caused by pain in one hip and leg. In severe cases, patients may experience severe buttock and lower limb pain, discomfort, difficulty walking, and claudication. It is estimated that the annual incidence of low back pain and sciatica is about 40 million cases, and the annual incidence of piriformis syndrome is about 2.4 million cases. The aim of this systematic review is to assess the effectiveness and safety of Little needle-scalpel therapy for Piriformis syndrome.

Two reviewers will electronically search the following databases the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL); PubMed; EMBASE; China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI); Chinese Biomedical Literature Database (CBM); Chinese Scientific Journal Database (VIP database); and Wan-Fang Database from the inception, without restriction of publication status and languages. Additioeview will be disseminated in a peer-reviewed journal or presented at relevant conferences. It is not necessary for a formal ethical approval because the data are not individualized.

There are no clinical trials evaluating the efficacy of combined music and Tai Chi therapy for patients with major depression. Therefore, the primary objective of the present study was to evaluate the efficacy of Tai Chi and music therapy on psychological status and quality of life among patients with major depressive disorder in China.

This work is a part of a comprehensive research project to assess and provide intervention that potentially improves psychological status and quality of life among patients with major depressive disorder. This research project has been received ethical approval from the Medical Research and Ethics Committee in Taizhou Second People's Hospital (no. tzey2020023). After the introductory briefing, the acceptance to take the presession questionnaire implied the participant's consent to participate in the study. Eligible participants are divided into 3 groups according to completely randomized design combined group (music therapy + Tai Chi), music therapy alone group, and Tai Chi alone group. The analyses will be performed using SPSS 22.0.0 (SPSS Inc, Chicago, IL).

This protocol will provide a reliable theoretical basis for the following research.

The sample came from a single health center. Therefore, the results cannot be generalized for the entire population.

This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of peri-induction forced air warming to prevent inadvertent perioperative hypothermia, defined as a reduction in body temperature to <36.0°C during the perioperative period, in intraoperatively warmed patients receiving major surgery lasting >120 minutes.

In total, 130 patients scheduled for elective surgery under general anesthesia lasting >120 minutes were divided into 2 groups peri-induction warming (n = 65) and control (n = 65). Patients in the peri-induction warming group were warmed during the anesthetic induction period using a forced-air warmer set at 47°C, whereas patients in the control group were covered passively with a cotton blanket. All patients were warmed with a forced-air warmer during surgery. The incidence rates of intraoperative and postoperative hypothermia were lower in the peri-induction warming group than in the control group (19.0% vs 57.1%, P < .001; 3.3% vs 16.9%, P = .013, respectively). Body temperature was higher in the peri-induction warming group (P < .001). However, intraoperative blood loss, as well as postoperative thermal comfort scale score, shivering scale score, and patient satisfaction score, were similar between groups. Post-anesthesia care unit duration was also similar between groups.

Peri-induction active forced air warming is an effective, simple, and convenient method to prevent inadvertent perioperative hypothermia in intraoperatively warmed patients undergoing major surgery lasting >120 minutes.

This study investigated the expression change, prognostic values, and potential regulatory mechanisms of mortality factor on chromosome 4 (MORF4)-related gene-binding protein (MRGBP) in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).MRGBP expression and clinical data from The Cancer Genome Atlas were used to evaluate the associations between MRGBP expression and clinicopathological characteristics. Kaplan-Meier and Cox regression analyses were performed to assess the factors contributing to prognosis. Gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) was used to identify pathways associated with MRGBP expression. Single-sample gene set enrichment analysis (ssGSEA) was used to comprehensively analyze the relative immune infiltration levels.High MRGBP expression was significantly associated with a higher T stage, pathologic stage, histologic grade, vascular invasion, tumor protein p53 status, and worse overall survival. MRGBP exhibited high diagnostic accuracy with an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve value of 0.980. t revealed significantly high T helper (Th), T follicular helper, CD56 bright natural killer, and Th2 cell enrichment scores in the high MRGBP expression group and significantly low neutrophil, Th17, dendritic cell (DC), gamma delta T, cytotoxic cell, regulatory T cell, plasmacytoid DC, and immature DC enrichment scores.MRGBP may be a novel prognostic biomarker and a therapeutic target correlated with immune infiltrates in HCC.

We aimed to investigate the relationship of radiological features and the corresponding pulmonary pathology of patients with Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) pneumonia.In this multicenter study, serial chest CT and radiographic images from 9 patients (51-85 years old, 56% male) were reviewed and analyzed. Postmortem lungs were sampled and studied from these autopsies, with a special focus on several corresponding sites based on imaging features.The predominant pattern of pulmonary injury in these 9 cases was diffuse alveolar damage (DAD) and interstitial inflammation. Moreover, acute fibrinous exudates, organization, inflammatory cell infiltration, hyaline membranes, pulmonary edema, pneumocyte hyperplasia, and fibrosis were all observed. The histopathology features varied according to the site and severity of each lesion. In most of the 9 cases, opacities started from a subpleural area and peripheral structures were more severely damaged based on gross views and pathological examinations. Fibrosis could occur in early stages of infection and this was supported by radiological and pathological findings.
