We treated small NET G1 (<10 mm) with endoscopic papillectomy and large NET G1 with pancreaticoduodenectomy. There were no cases of recurrence after resection. Body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) is severe, chronic, and undertreated. Apps could substantially improve treatment access.

We provide an initial test of the usability and efficacy of coach-supported app-based cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for BDD. The Perspectives app covers core treatment components psychoeducation, cognitive restructuring, exposure with response prevention, mindfulness, attention retraining, and relapse prevention.

A randomized waitlist-controlled trial was conducted. Adults (N = 80) with primary BDD were assigned to 12 weeks of Perspectives or waitlist. Coaches promoted engagement and answered questions via in-app messaging and phone calls. BDD severity was measured at baseline, mid-treatment, and end of treatment by blinded independent evaluators (Yale-Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale Modified for BDD; BDD-YBOCS). Secondary outcomes included BDD-related insight, depression, quality of life, and functioning.

App uptake and satisfaction were high. In intent-to-treat analyses, Perspectives app-based CBT was associated with significantly lower BDD-YBOCS severity at end of treatment (M [SD] 16.8 [7.5]) compared to the waitlist (26.7 [6.2]; p < 0.001, d = 1.44). App-based CBT was associated with greater improvements across all secondary measures, with medium to large effects.

The COVID-19 pandemic has been continuing its global spread ever since its onset, and efforts to curb the infection in multiple reports have contrasting effects on stroke severity, admissions, and outcomes. In the Philippines, where the COVID-19 pandemic shows no signs of slowing down and has been in the world's longest lockdown, we investigated the effect of the pandemic in the stroke admissions and outcomes in one of the largest tertiary hospitals in the Philippines.

This is a retrospective, comparative study of all adult stroke patients admitted between pre-COVID-19 (February 2019-January 2020) and COVID-19 periods (February 2020-January 2021). The differences of stroke types, severity, classification, and discharge outcomes between pre-COVID-19 and during COVID-19 were analyzed in the study.

There is a decrease in total number of stroke admissions from 597 in the pre-COVID-19 period to 487 during the pandemic. Stroke patients take significantly longer time to seek hospital consultation from the onset of stroke symptoms, and significantly higher proportion of patients have moderate and severe stroke. The discharge outcome showed significantly higher proportions of dependency upon discharge (13%) and higher proportion of death in stroke patients from 7% pre-CO-VID-19 pandemic to 13% during the pandemic.

In this study, we used pyrosequencing to analyze bacterial diversity and community structure at different growth stages in the jujube rhizosphere in Hetian, Kashi, and Aksu prefectures. These results revealed a greater bacterial diversity in the 8-year jujube rhizosphere as compared with the 3-year-old rhizosphere taken from the same sampling area. Moreover, samples obtained from Kashi prefecture showed the largest diversity among the different areas. The most abundant phyla across all soil samples were Proteobacteria, Actinobacteria, Acidobacteria, Bacteroidetes, and Firmicutes. Dominant phyla in the 8-year jujube rhizosphere accounted for the increased observed diversity. Furthermore, comparative analysis of the bacterial communities with respect to rhizosphere age and sampling areas revealed a significant correlation between soil properties and phyla diversity. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study of jujube rhizosphere bacterial diversity and community structure in the southern Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and we hope that our research provides a reference for future studies.

The objective of this study was to examine whether women's experiences of such events during pregnancy were associated with the development of allergic diseases in their offspring at 3 years old and whether social capital moderated this association.

We used data from 81,337 mother-child pairs who participated in the Japan Environment and Children's Study. This is a prospective birth cohort recruited between January 2011 and March 2014. We examined the associations between prenatal maternal negative life events (e.g., bereavement, financial, and marital problems) during pregnancy and allergic diseases (asthma, eczema, and food allergies) in children after adjustment for covariates using multivariate logistic regression. We also examined interactions between these life events and social capital, measured as two items, social cohesion and social support.

Prenatal negative life events were significantly associated with doctor-diagnosed asthma at 3 years old with a dose-response relationship (one life event vs. none adjusted odds ratio 1.13, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.07-1.20; two life events vs. none adjusted odds ratio 1.24, 95% CI 1.13-1.36; three or more life events vs. none adjusted odds ratio 1.26, 95% CI 1.10-1.46; p for trend <0.01). Similar results were observed for eczema and food allergies. There were no interactions between life events and social capital.

Novel targeted and tailored therapies can substantially improve the prognosis for optic pathway glioma (OPG), especially when implemented in a timely manner. However, their tremendous potential remains underestimated. Therefore, in this study, we provide an updated overview of the clinical trials, current trends, and future perspectives for OPG's novel therapeutic strategies.

We completed an extensive literature review using the PubMed, MEDLINE, and ClinicalTrials.gov databases. We analyzed and reported the data following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines.

Thioguanine, procarbazine, lomustine, and vincristine/vinblastine, as well as cisplatin-etoposide, provided excellent results in advanced-phase trials. Selumetinib and trametinib, two oral MEK inhibitors, have been approved for recurrent or refractory OPGs in association with the angiogenetic inhibitor bevacizumab. Among the mTOR inhibitors, everolimus and sirolimus showed the best results. Stereotactic radiosurgery and proton beam radiation therapy have advantages over conventional radiotherapy regimens. Timely treatment is imperative for acute visual symptoms with evidence of tumor progression. This latest evidence can help define a novel "T-Dimension" for pediatric OPG therapies.

However, lupus nephritis (LN) still represents a major life-threatening complication of the disease. Belimumab (BEL), a fully human monoclonal IgG1λ antibody neutralizing soluble B cell activating factor, was approved more than ten years ago as add-on therapy in adults and pediatric patients with a highly active, autoantibody-positive disease despite standard of care (SoC). Recently, the superiority of the addition of BEL to SoC was also demonstrated in LN. In this review, we provide a comprehensive overview of the study landscape, available therapeutic options for SLE (focusing on BEL in renal and non-renal SLE), and new perspectives in the treatment field of this disease. A personalized treatment approach will likely become available with the advent of novel therapeutic agents for SLE and LN.
