Diaporthe spp. are critical plant pathogens that cause wood cankers, wilt, dieback, and fruit rot in a wide variety of economic plant hosts and are regarded as one of the most acute threats faced by the kiwifruit industry worldwide. Diaporthe phragmitis NJD1 is a highly pathogenic isolate of soft rot of kiwifruit. Here, we present a high-quality genome-wide sequence of D. phragmitis NJD1 that was assembled into 28 contigs containing a total size of 58.33 Mb and N50 length of 3.55 Mb. This is an open access article distributed under the CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 International license.The genetic mechanisms associated with acquisition of linezolid (LZD) resistance are diverse, including point mutations in the V domain of the 23S rRNA and the 50S ribosomal proteins as well as cfr, optrA, and/or poxtA genes, which may be plasmid- or chromosomally encoded. The aim of this study was to investigate through Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS)-based typing the presence and location of genes and point mutations associated with LZD resistance in two Enterococcus faecalis isolates from Upper Austrian patients. The isolates were retrieved during screening by LZD disk diffusion test of a total of 911 clinical E. faecalis isolates in 2017. The two E. faecalis isolates had LZD minimum inhibitory concentrations of 8 and 32 mg/L and were optrA-positive (ST476 and ST585). Bioinformatic analysis revealed the presence of optrA located in the chromosome of both isolates. One isolate carried the optrA gene in the transposon 6674, previously reported as chromosomally encoded, and the second isolate in fragments originating from the integrative plasmid pEF10748. Additional mechanisms of LZD resistance on the 23S rRNA and the 50S ribosomal proteins were detected. None of the patients reported travels to geographical areas with high LZD resistance or previous LZD treatments. This is the first report of optrA carrying E. faecalis, including characterization by WGS from Austria. LZD resistance in a low-prevalence setting is of concern and should be further monitored.Hospitals are an integral part of community resiliency during and after a disaster or emergency event. In addition to community-level planning through healthcare coalitions, hospitals are required to test and update emergency plans to comply with accreditation standards at their own expense. Justifying costs related to investments in emergency preparedness can be a barrier, as these events are relatively rare. Little is known about the crosscutting benefits of investments in daily operations including patient care. This study investigated whether hospital investments in emergency preparedness had a perceived impact on daily operations from a senior leadership perspective. Using a cross-sectional study design, a 39-item survey was emailed and mailed to chief executive officers of all 105 Nebraska hospitals. Most respondents indicated that drills and exercises, staff training, and updating emergency plans had a positive impact on daily operations. A relatively small proportion (≤11%) of respondents indicated that costs of buying decontamination equipment, personal protective equipment, and costs associated with staff training and drills/exercises had a negative impact on daily operations. No differences were noted between rural and urban locations or between hospitals that allocate funds in the budget versus those that do not. The majority of hospitals in our study are likely to continue to invest over the next 3 years, inferring a sincere commitment by hospital senior leadership to continue to invest in emergency preparedness. Future research using longitudinal design and objective measures of investments and daily benefits is needed to support a business case for hospital preparedness.Aim To improve the diagnostic accuracy of immuno-PCR (I-PCR) in tuberculosis (TB) patients by using functionalized gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) coupled with detection antibodies and oligonucleotides, and magnetic beads (MBs) conjugated with capture antibodies in the liquid phase. Materials & methods MB-coupled AuNP-based I-PCR (MB-AuNP-I-PCR) assay was designed to detect a cocktail of Mycobacterium tuberculosis MPT64 and CFP-10 proteins in bodily fluids of TB patients. Results The sensitivities of 89.3 (n = 94) and 78.1% (n = 73) were observed in pulmonary TB and extrapulmonary TB patients, respectively, with specificities of 97.9-98.3%. Notably, the sensitivities attained by MB-AuNP-I-PCR in smear-negative pulmonary TB and extrapulmonary TB patients were significantly higher (p less then 0.05-0.001) than Magneto-ELISA and GeneXpert assay. To identify patterns ("classes") of outcomes for adults with and without childhood ADHD.

Subjects were 232 childhood ADHD cases and 335 non-ADHD referents from a 1976 to 1982 birth cohort. We used latent class analyses to identify classes based on a broad array of adult psychosocial outcomes and determined the proportion of subjects with childhood ADHD within each class.

A three class solution provided optimal model fit; classes were termed "good," "intermediate," and "poor" functioning. Subjects with childhood ADHD comprised 62.8% of the "poor," 53.5% of the "intermediate," and 24.9% of the "good" functioning class. The "poor" functioning class was distinguished by increased likelihood of legal trouble and substance use disorders and included more individuals with childhood ADHD and psychiatric disorder than the "intermediate" class (45.5% vs. 30.6%).
