Detailed imaging of the three-dimensionally complex architecture of xylary plants is important for studying biological and mechanical functions of woody plants. Apart from common two-dimensional microscopy, X-ray micro-computed tomography has been established as a three-dimensional (3D) imaging method for studying the hydraulic function of wooden plants. However, this X-ray imaging method can barely reach the resolution needed to see the minute structures (e.g. pit membrane). To complement the xylem structure with 3D views at the nanoscale level, X-ray near-field nano-holotomography (NFH) was applied to analyze the wood species Pinus sylvestris and Fagus sylvatica. The demanded small specimens required focused ion beam (FIB) application. The FIB milling, however, influenced the image quality through gallium implantation on the cell-wall surfaces. The measurements indicated that NFH is appropriate for imaging wood at nanometric resolution. With a 26 nm voxel pitch, the structure of the cell-wall surface in Pinus sylvestris could be visualized in genuine detail. In wood of Fagus sylvatica, the structure of a pit pair, including the pit membrane, between two neighboring fibrous cells could be traced tomographically.Insecticide resistant Aedes populations have recently been reported in Pakistan, imposing a threat to their control. We aimed to evaluate the susceptibility of Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus populations from Lahore to WHO-recommended insecticides and to investigate metabolic and target-site resistance mechanisms. For this purpose, we first carried out bioassays with the larvicides temephos and pyriproxyfen, and the adulticides malathion, permethrin, deltamethrin, alpha-cypermethrin, and etofenprox. We looked for Knockdown resistance mutations (kdr) by qPCR, High-Resolution Melt (HRM), and sequencing. In order to explore the role of detoxifying enzymes in resistance, we carried out synergist bioassay with both species and then checked the expression of CYP9M6, CYP9J10, CYP9J28, CYP6BB2, CCAe3a, and SAP2 genes in Ae. aegypti. Both species were susceptible to organophosphates and the insect growth regulator, however resistant to all pyrethroids. We are reporting the kdr haplotypes 1520Ile + 1534Cys and T1520 + 1534Cys in high frequencies in Ae. aegypti while Ae. AG-1024 chemical structure albopictus only exhibited the alteration L882M. PBO increased the sensitivity to permethrin in Ae. aegypti, suggesting the participation of P450 genes in conferring resistance, and indeed, CYP928 was highly expressed. We presume that dengue vectors in Lahore city are resistant to pyrethroids, probably due to multiple mechanisms, such as kdr mutations and P450 overexpression. To explore the individual effect and interaction of diabetes and family history and other risk factors on hypertension in Han in Shanghai China. The method of case-control study with ll matched pairs was used, 342 cases of hypertension and 342 controls were selected and investigate their exposed factors with face-to-face. The method of epidemiology research was used to explore the individual effect and interaction of diabetes and family history and other risk factors on hypertension. The individual effect of family history (OR = 4.103, 95%CI 2.660-6.330), diabetes (OR = 4.219, 95%CI 2.926-6.083), personal taste (OR = 1.256, 95%CI 1.091-1.593), drinking behavior (OR = 1.391, 95%CI 1.010-1.914) and smoking behavior (OR = 1.057, 95%CI 1.00-1.117) were significant (p  0.05). The OR of interaction between FH and DM to hypertension was 16.537 (95%CI 10.070-21.157), between FH and drinking behavior was 4.0 (95%CI 2.461-6.502), FH and sport habit was 7.668 (95%CI 3.598-16.344), FH and personal taste was 6.521 (95%CI 3.858-11.024), FH and smoking behavior was 5.526 (95%CI 3.404-8.972), FH and work/life pressure was 4.087 (95%CI 2.144-7.788). The SI of FH and DM was 2.27, RERI was 8.68, AP was 52.48% and PAP was 55.86%. FH and DM, personal taste, smoking behavior had positive interaction on hypertension, but FH and sport habits, drinking behavior, work/life pressure had reverse interaction on hypertension. FH and diabetes were very important risk factors with significant effect for hypertension. FH and diabetes, personal taste, smoking behavior had positive interaction on hypertension, but FH and sport habits, drinking behavior, work/life pressure had reverse interaction on hypertension.SmCo5 is one of the most promising candidates for achieving a hard magnet with a high coercivity. Usually, composition, morphology, and size determine the coercivity of a magnet, however, it is challenging to synthesize phase pure SmCo5 with optimal size and high coercivity. In this paper, we report on the successful synthesis of phase pure SmCo5 with spherical/prolate spheroids shape. Size control is obtained by utilizing colloidal SiO2 as a template preventing aggregation and growth of the precursor. The amount of SiO2 nanoparticles (NPs) in the precursor tunes the average particle size (APS) of the synthesized SmCo5 with particle dimension from 740 to 504 nm. As-prepared pure SmCo5 fine powder obtained from using 2 ml SiO2 suspension possesses an APS of 625 nm and exhibits an excellent coercivity of 2986 kA m-1 (37.5 kOe) without alignment of the particles prior to magnetisation measurements. Comparing with a reference sample prepared without adding any SiO2 NPs, an enhancement of 35% of the coercivity was achieved. The improvement is due to phase purity, stable single-domain (SSD) size, and shape anisotropy originating from the prolate spheroid particles.A growing body of evidence suggests a relationship between olfactory dysfunction and the pathogenesis of mental disorders. Our previous studies indicated that chronic nasal inflammation caused loss of olfactory sensory neurons and gross atrophy of the olfactory bulb, which may lead to olfactory dysfunction. Simultaneously, increasing numbers of reports have elucidated the importance of gut microbiota to maintain brain function and that dysbiosis may be associated with neuropsychiatric disorders. Here we examined whether chronic nasal inflammation perturbed gut microbiota and whether there were sex differences in this pattern. Eight-week-old C57BL/6 mice repeatedly received bilateral nasal administration of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) 3 times/week to cause chronic nasal inflammation or saline as a control. At 9 weeks, cecal feces were used for 16S metagenomic analysis and whole blood and fresh tissue of spleen were used for ELISA analyses. Microbiome analysis demonstrated a remarkable change of the gut microbiota in male mice with chronic nasal inflammation which was different from that in female mice.
