Background Mental health promotion and prevention with expecting and new fathers has historically been challenging. Approximately 10% of this population report experiencing depression in the post-partum period and 18% report experiencing anxiety. This population may be further at risk if their partner has a mental illness. Objective To assess if information provided by SMS may be a way to reach a vulnerable population of new fathers with partners who have a mental illness.Method Twenty-three new and expecting fathers who have partners with a mental illness were engaged in a qualitative assessment of their experience with the SMS4Dads programme. Results This analysis showed that at risk new fathers appreciated the information received during the programme and reported acting on this, making changes in the way they interact with their children. Conclusion The combination of timely, accurate and practical information delivered in a novel way, likely contributed to the reports of improved interactions within the family unit. Key Words Fathers, infant, SMS, depression, mental health.

In a study from our institution, ultrasonic percutaneous tenotomy of the brevis and the common extensor tendon for recalcitrant lateral elbow tendinopathy showed excellent safety profiles, high tolerability, efficiency, sustained pain relief, functional improvement, and sonographic evidence of tissue healing in 20 patients at 3 years' follow-up.

To explore the long-term clinical and sonographic results of ultrasonic percutaneous tenotomy of the brevis and the common extensor tendon.

Case series; Level of evidence, 4.

The same cohort of 20 patients was recalled after 7 years, and visual analog scale (VAS) for pain and Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand (DASH) scores, need for secondary intervention, and overall satisfaction were assessed. They were also reassessed using ultrasound imaging of the brevis and the common extensor tendon to evaluate tendon hypervascularity, tendon thickness, and the progress or the recurrence of the hypoechoic scar tissue.

We successfully scored 19 patients and pehad reduced tendon swelling and sustained resolution or reduction of the hypoechoic lesion.

At the long-term follow-up of 90 months, ultrasonic percutaneous tenotomy of the brevis and the common extensor tendon, previously shown to enhance recovery of lateral elbow tendinopathy, demonstrated good durability of pain relief and functional recovery that was previously achieved. This was accompanied by sustained sonographic tissue healing with no significant deterioration.

This study aimed to assess the relationship between excessive social media use, sociodemographics, and psychosocial constructs in a Hispanic college student sample. College students (n = 621; n = 456 females; n = 160 males) from a university located on the U.S./Mexico border completed a survey assessing sociodemographics, social media addiction, social media use, and psychosocial constructs (e.g., Internet motives, sensation seeking, and need for drama [NFD]). Descriptive analyses were conducted, as were two linear regressions assessing weekly social media use and social media addiction. Participants reported using social media an average of 20 hours a week (SD = 19.47). In addition, 57.9 percent of participants reported using social media once a day or more, whereas 15.1 percent met the social media addiction threshold. Weekly social media use was positively associated with NFD, socialization, and coping as motives while being negatively associated with age. Social media addiction was positively associated with NFD and coping while being negatively associated with age. Findings suggest that Hispanic college students evidence high social media use rates and may be using social media as an unhealthy strategy to deal with negative mood and daily problems. Furthermore, college students may be using social media as an avenue to engage in attention-seeking behaviors and manipulation of others. Prospective studies are warranted to assess these relationships temporally, as are intervention efforts aimed at reducing excessive social media use.In this study, we report a high incidence of New Delhi metallo-β-lactamase (NDM)-producing and ampicillin-catabolizing bacteria within carbapenem-resistant bacterial populations in the waters of two important rivers, Mahananda and Karala, bisecting two most populous towns, Siliguri and Jalpaiguri, respectively, in the northern West Bengal, India. Isolates producing NDM belonged to four genera, Acinetobacter, Escherichia, Proteus, and Pseudomonas; among which few were phylogenetically determined as putatively novel species. Class 1 integrons with the frequent presence of aadA and aac(6')-Ib gene cassettes in 50% of NDM-bearing isolates are indicative of possible selective pressures generated out of unregulated use of streptomycin, in agriculture practiced by the cultivators and tea planters living in locales drained by these two rivers, in their up- and downstream, and amikacin in the most crowded government-sponsored "sadar" and district hospitals of Siliguri and Jalpaiguri. Gusacitinib chemical structure NDM-delivering bacteria in rivers have genuine consequences for city inhabitants who are dependent on public water and sanitation facilities. Standard reconnaissance of antibiotic resistance, consolidating ecological sampling just as the assessment of clinical isolates, should be set up as a need. The current study examined the role of White emotional responses (White empathy, guilt, and fear of other races) to (a) witnessing racism online (seeing racial/ethnic minorities discriminated in online interactions) and (b) exposure to online content on the group- and systemic-level racism against racial/ethnic minorities on White individuals' individual and institutional advocacy behaviors. Path analysis using data from 227 White adults revealed that White empathy explained significant indirect relations of witnessing online content on systemic- and group-level racism in society on individual and institutional advocacy behaviors. No significant indirect relations were found regarding witnessing racial/ethnic minorities being discriminated online interactions, but a significant direct link was observed on individual advocacy. In response to witnessing racism online, White empathy appeared to be promotive for advocacy engagement, whereas guilt and fear of other races seemed to be barriers. Limitations and implications for research are discussed.Introduction TP53 (tumor protein p53) is one of the most commonly mutanted genes in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD). Materials and Methods In this study, we used data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) to evaluate the importance of TP53 mutations in cellular processes, disease progression, the prognosis in LUAD, and to identify critical hub genes and pathways associated with oncogenesis. Results Analysis of the TCGA data showed TP53 mutations in 22% of LUAD patients. Clinicopathological analyses demonstrated that TP53 mutation was correlated with the disease progression but not prognosis. We identified 1935 differentially expressed genes (DEGs). Functional enrichment analysis showed that the DEGs were mainly concentrated in metabolism, cell differentiation, and cancer-related pathways. The top hub genes were identified and disease analysis revealed the most critical genes related to disease progression and prognosis. The expression levels of several of these genes were then tested in tumor tissues. Conclusion Our results showed that TP53 mutation plays a critical role in cellular process and the clinicopathological findings in LUAD. We also identified potential key genes, which could provide novel evidence for individualized treatment.

Pertrochanteric calcifications can be found in patients with greater trochanteric pain syndrome (GTPS). A systematic description of the types and prevalence of these calcifications has not been undertaken. Furthermore, there is conflicting evidence regarding their association with abductor tendon injuries.

(1) To describe the various types and prevalence of pertrochanteric calcifications in patients presenting for the surgical management of recalcitrant GTPS. (2) To evaluate the association of the various calcifications with intraoperatively diagnosed hip abductor tendon injuries, including tendinosis, partial-thickness tears, and full-thickness tears.

Cross-sectional study; Level of evidence, 3.

Patients undergoing surgical management for GTPS, in isolation or as an ancillary procedure during hip arthroscopy for femoroacetabular impingement, between April 2008 and February 2020 were included. Of these, 85 procedures were isolated treatment of GTPS and the remaining 628 were ancillary to hip arthroscose patients. Proximally and distally directed enthesophytes were strong predictors for the presence of a hip abductor tendon tear, and specifically a full-thickness tear, and increasing size of the findings was associated with more severe tendon injuries.More than a century of research has shown that sociodemographic conditions affect infectious disease transmission. In the late spring and early summer of 2020, reports of the effects of sociodemographic variables on the spread of COVID-19 were used in the media with minimal scientific proof attached. With new cases of COVID-19 surging in the United States at that time, it became essential to better understand how the spread of COVID-19 was varying across all segments of the population. We used hierarchical exponential growth curve modeling techniques to examine whether community socioeconomic characteristics uniquely influence the incidence of reported COVID-19 cases in the urban built environment. We show that as of July 19, 2020, confirmed coronavirus infections in New York City and surrounding areas-one of the early epicenters of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States-were concentrated along demographic and socioeconomic lines. Furthermore, our data provides evidence that after the onset of the pandemic, timely enactment of physical distancing measures such as school closures was essential to limiting the extent of the coronavirus spread in the population. We conclude that in a pandemic, public health authorities must impose physical distancing measures early on as well as consider community-level factors that associate with a greater risk of viral transmission.Breast cancer is a serious threat to the physical and mental health of women all over the world. Our previous results have shown that Serine protease 50 (TSP50), an oncogene overexpressed in breast cancer, can promote proliferation, migration, and invasion of breast cancer cells. Mechanistic studies have revealed that TSP50 promoted tumorigenesis mainly by activating NF-kappa B (NF-κB) and inhibiting activin signaling pathway, indicating that TSP50 played a critical role in the occurrence and development of breast cancer. However, there are few reports on the regulation of TSP50 expression in breast cancer. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) have emerged as an essential posttranscriptional regulator in gene expression and they played a significant role in breast cancer regulation. In the present study, bioinformatics software miRBase and TargetScan were first used to predict and analyze miRNAs that could target TSP50 mRNA 3'UTR and six miRNAs were found. Results from quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) and western blot suggested that miR-4709-3p could bind to TSP50 mRNA 3'UTR and significantly inhibit the expression of TSP50 protein.
